ICC reaffirms the prioritization of women's health on Menstrual Hygiene Day
An infographic with more information is available at the Online Media Zone Watch the ICC's Menstrual Health awareness video here Visit the ICC's Women's Health webpage here The International Cricket Council (ICC) today reaffirmed its commitment to the health and welfare of female cricketers through its support of the Menstrual Hygiene Day. With women's cricket being one of the six strategic priorities identified by the ICC, the governing body has expanded its ongoing education and awareness initiatives around women's health, with the aim to normalize conversations around topics including menstruation in team environments. As part of the day's awareness plan, the ICC will host a webinar featuring India batter, Jemimah Rodrigues, England Women's U19 Performance Lead, Chris Guest and researcher, educator and advocate of women's health, Dr Sarah Zipp, focused on breaking barriers around periods in cricket. The webinar will be attended by more than 350 players, support staff and cricket administrators from around the world. With the aim to shed light on how female cricketers experience, manage and communicate around menstrual health, the ICC conducted a first-of-its-kind survey during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2023. The survey gathered insights from 133 athletes and 65 support staff members across 10 teams. Key findings highlighted communication gaps where 69 per cent of support staff thought players felt comfortable discussing periods with them, however, only 43 per cent of players agreed. Additionally, 33 per cent of players believed that periods negatively impacted their performance with 50 per cent of players having missed training due to symptoms. However, only 35 per cent of players reported being given the option to opt out of training when feeling unwell. Although half of all players had attended some form of menstrual health education (mostly at school), knowledge gaps remain significant. As a result, the ICC continues its efforts to educate players participating in ICC Events and raise awareness through resources such as the latest menstrual health video.

Women's ODI Tri-Series: India aim to put best foot forward in high-stakes final against Sri Lanka
Colombo: India will be determined to put their best foot forward in all departments when they meet host Sri Lanka in the Women's ODI Tri-Series final, to be held at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. For Sunday's final, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced fans will be able to watch the final in the stadium for free. It was against Sri Lanka in the league stage that India suffered their lone defeat of the tri-series and Sunday's clash gives them a chance to turn the tables on the Chamari Athapaththu-led side, as well as stand up to the pressure of playing a final – something which also aids them in their preparation for this year's ODI World Cup. From an Indian batting perspective, Jemimah Rodrigues has been their best batter with 201 runs at an average of 67 – including a fantastic 123 against South Africa after coming out to bat at number five. Deepti Sharma, Pratika Rawal and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana have been other batting contributors, but it would be great for India if skipper Harmanpreet Kaur converts a start into a big score. In terms of bowling, off-spin all-rounder Sneh Rana has been on a stellar run on return to international cricket – picking 11 wickets at an average of 15.63, including a five-wicket haul against South Africa. But to win a high-stakes final, India would need a collective bowling effort to upstage Sri Lanka's batters. On the other hand, Sri Lanka have shown that they are no pushovers, especially after beating India in the group stage. Apart from skipper Chamari, Harshitha Samawickrama shapes up as a pivotal batting figure – making a match-winning 53 in the tri-series league stage win over India and hitting a fine 69 not out against the same opposition to win the Women's T20 Asia Cup final in Dambulla last year. With the ball, young spinner Dewmi Vihanga has been impressive for Sri Lanka – taking nine wickets at an average of 15.33. How she and Malki Madara shape up to counter the challenge from the formidable Indian batters will make for a fascinating match-up in the grand finale of the tri-series. When: Sunday, May 11 at 10am IST Where: R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium Where to watch: Live telecast on Fancode (TV and digital) Squads India: Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur(c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh(w), Amanjot Kaur, Shree Charani, Sneh Rana, Shuchi Upadhyay, Kranti Goud, Yastika Bhatia, Tejal Hasabnis, and Arundhati Reddy Sri Lanka: Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Chamari Athapaththu(c), Nilakshi de Silva, Manudi Nanayakkara, Anushka Sanjeewani(w), Dewmi Vihanga, Sugandika Kumari, Malki Madara, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Inoka Ranaweera, Hansima Karunaratne, Achini Kulasuriya, Kavisha Dilhari, Rashmika Sewwandi, and Piumi Badalge

India women's team looks to dispel tricky Sri Lanka in the tri-series final
Colombo, Indian women's team will bank on its smooth-functioning batting line-up to ward off a tricky Sri Lanka and win the ODI tri-series final here on Sunday. India's lone defeat in this event came against the Lankans but Harmanpreet Kaur's side has been the most dominant team, finishing at the top of the points table with three wins from four matches. Sri Lanka finished second with two wins and as many losses while South Africa were at the bottom of the pile with only one win in four games. Winning this contest will also be paramount for both India and Sri Lanka, as it would help them in the buildup to the ODI World Cup later this year. The primary reason behind India's fine run in the tournament is their excellent batting effort. With 201 runs at an average of 67, including a century against South Africa, Jemimah Rodrigues has been India's best batter here. Others like Pratika Rawal , Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma have proved to be vital cogs with timely contributions. Deepti's 93 consolidated India's position against South Africa in a league match but it was also symbolic of the stability in their lower-order. Skipper Harmanpreet hasn't had any big score to her credit so far and often failed to convert the starts into big scores. However, her 41 not out, 30 and 28 in the last three matches indicate a big knock could be around the corner. Sneh Rana has been the best bowler in the competition taking 11 wickets which included a five-wicket haul against South Africa. On their part, Sri Lanka will hope star batter Harshitha Samarawickrama continues to fire against India in key clashes as her 53 played a pivotal role in the hosts' win in a league match. The 26-year-old Samarawickrama will also draw confidence from her match-winning 69 not out against India in the T20 Asia Cup final last year, which had powered the Islanders to an eight-wicket victory. With two fifties and 177 runs in four matches, the left-handed Samarawickrama has been Sri Lanka's best batter in this series. The home captain and key all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu, with 88 runs and five wickets in four matches, hasn't been at her best so far and her contributions in the summit clash could also influence its outcome. Dewmi Vihanga has had the strongest of impacts in the competition among Lankan bowlers but the Indian batters have negated her well earlier in the tournament. Teams : India: Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur , Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh , Deepti Sharma, Kashvee Gautam, Arundhati Reddy, Sneh Rana, Nallapureddy Charani, Yastika Bhatia, Amanjot Kaur, Tejal Hasabnis, Shuchi Upadhyay. Sri Lanka: Vishmi Gunaratne, Hansima Karunaratne, Hasini Perera, Piumi Wathsala, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Anushka Sanjeewani , Nilakshika Silva, Chamari Athapaththu , Kavisha Dilhari, Manudi Nanayakkara, Rashmika Sewwandi, Dewmi Vihanga, Inoshi Priyadarshini, Achini Kalasuriya, Sugandika Kumari, Malki Madara, Inoka Ranaweera. Match starts at 10:00 am IST.
