Heavy metal icon battling ‘devastating' form of cancer gets married

David Roach, the frontman for popular heavy metal rock band Junkyard, got hitched to his fiancée, Jennifer, amid the rock star's ongoing battle with cancer. Junkyard shared an Instagram post on Sunday, July 20 capturing the wedding with the description, 'Congratulations to the happy couple — Mr. and Mrs. David Patrick Roach." Roach's child, Ray, also posted about the wedding on Instagram with the caption, 'Did you know that you can get a free wedding venue if you just do it in the cancer center lobby after hours? Welcome to the Roach fam Jennifer!' The members of Junkyard attended the ceremony as well, according to both Instagram posts. Roach wrote in a Jan. 21 Instagram post that he was 'going through a medical issue that I'll be dealing with for at least a few more months.' Junkyard later announced in a Jan. 31 Instagram post that Roach was hit with 'an aggressive cancer diagnosis.' The singer was admitted to the hospital last month after experiencing a persistent fever and cough. 'We're still struggling to process the news we received on Tuesday,' a June 26 Instagram post from Roach and Jennifer read. 'We got results that have completely shattered our world. It's devastating and life-altering, and we're trying to navigate through the emotions and uncertainty that come with it.' Despite this uncertainty, Roach was 'showing such incredible strength and resilience,' according to the Instagram post. 'Even in the midst of this darkness, he's still managing to keep his sense of humor,' the post continued. 'It's a reminder of how amazing he is.' The band started donating a portion of every sale of their merchandise to help pay for Roach's medical expenses. The singer was also selling his plaque art to cover the cost of bills. Additionally, a GoFundMe was created in March to help the musician combat 'the financial strain from medical expenses and daily living costs.' The campaign has raised more than $35,000 to date. 'Your support means the world to David, and it will truly help him through this difficult period,' the GoFundMe reads. 'Thank you so much for showing him the love and kindness he deserves!' Junkyard formed in Los Angeles, California in 1987. The band, which is often compared to Guns N' Roses, possesses a 'raw and bluesy hard rock' sound 'with a metal accent and roots in hardcore punk,' according to AllMusic. Junkyard released four studio albums from 1989 to 1998 before going on hiatus. However, the members regrouped a few years later. Junkyard released its first new studio album in almost 20 years, 'High Water' in 2017, as well as their latest singles, 'Lifer' and 'Last of a Dying Breed,' in 2021. Covid has made our brains age faster, says a new study – even if you were never ill with the virus

A new study from the University of Nottingham suggests the Covid pandemic may have left a very real impact on our brains, even if we were never sick with the virus. After analysing the data of over 15,000 adults via the UK Biobank – a biomedical treasure trove of health data and samples from half a million participants – scientists, with the help of artificial intelligence, compared brain ages found in two distinct two groups. One group had multiple brain scans taken before the pandemic over a set period of time, the second looked at those with scans taken both before and during the pandemic. Via this method, researchers found on average the human brain aged five and a half months faster during the pandemic than it did pre-2020. "This study reminds us that brain health is shaped not only by illness, but by our everyday environment," explains Dorothee Auer, Professor of Neuroimaging and senior author on the study. "The pandemic put a strain on people's lives, especially those already facing disadvantage. We can't yet test whether the changes we saw will reverse, but it's certainly possible, and that's an encouraging thought." The University study reports that "the changes were most noticeable in older individuals, in men, and in people from more disadvantaged backgrounds". It's a staunch reminder of just how big an impact stress and worry can have on our minds and bodies. "What surprised me most was that even people who hadn't had COVID showed significant increases in brain aging rates," added neurologist Ali-Reza Mohammadi-Nejad, who also worked on the study. "It really shows how much the experience of the pandemic itself, everything from isolation to uncertainty, may have affected our brain health." Actor Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, known for playing Roshan Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has once again spoken about her painful experience on the show. In a new interview with Pinkvilla, she shared how the working environment affected her mental health and why she spoke up against the producer Asit Kumarr Modi. Jennifer's allegations against Asit Modi Jennifer said the problems started in 2018. She had a fight with Sohail Ramani, the operations head, and went to Asit Modi hoping he would support her. Instead, he made a shocking comment. "He said to me, 'You look sexy (sexy lag rahi ho)'." Jennifer also talked about an incident from 2019 during a trip to Singapore. "He approached me and said, 'Your roommate goes out every day. Why don't you come to my room and drink whiskey? You wouldn't get bored alone'." Another disturbing moment happened at a coffee shop during the same trip to Singapore. She added, "He said, 'Your lips are very sexy. It makes me want to hold you and kiss you'." She claimed he made such comments not just to her but to other actresses too. She shared that in 2022, she was crying on a call with Asit Modi. His reply made her feel uncomfortable. "Why are you crying? If you were here, I would hug you. I would take a chance. You don't care about me." Jennifer on mental health and suicidal thoughts Jennifer also said the situation impacted her mental health and she went through a very dark phase. She had thoughts of suicide but her daughter gave her strength. "When I was going through menopause, I experienced depression and, over the last two years, I've thought about suicide more than a hundred times. The only thing that kept me going was my daughter, Lekisha." Her husband supported her and helped her get medical treatment. Jennifer said she is still facing financial issues due to the ongoing legal case. Former TMKOC actors speak up about on-set issues Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entertaining viewers for 17 years and remains one of TV's most loved shows. While the show continues to thrive, several former cast members have spoken out about troubling experiences behind the scenes. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, actor Monika Bhadoriya (who played Bawri) talked about her difficult time on the show. She blamed Sohail Ramani, the operations head, for bad behavior and even violence on the set. She said, 'He is rude to everyone, and sometimes, because of this behaviour, he gets into a brawl with the artists. Even though he got into so many fights with the actors, he is still the production head and instead, artists are leaving the show." Moreover, Gurucharan Singh, who played Roshan Sodhi on the show, claimed he didn't leave the show in 2012. Instead, he said he was replaced without any notice. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he said, 'Taraak Mehta is like my family because if I didn't consider them as family, I would have said a lot of things about them which I didn't. In 2012, they replaced me, so I didn't leave the show." He said he was shocked to see a new actor playing his role without anyone informing him.

Jennifer Mistry Of Taarak Mehta Fame Accuses Asit Modi And Team Of Withholding Payments

Last Updated: Jennifer Mistry accuses Taarak Mehta producer Asit Modi and team of withholding payments, reveals shocking details about toxic work culture and actor exits. Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal has been in the headlines ever since she accused the producer of the show, Asit Kumar Modi, of harassment. Now, the actress has revealed some shocking details about the show and its actors. While discussing actors' exits from the show and how the makers have stopped paying their pending dues, Jennifer became emotional and revealed that the remaining actors are only working for the money. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Jennifer shared, 'Bhavya ke alava sabne baat share ki mujse. Bhavya ka lekin humko malum hai." (Except for Bhavya, everyone shared their experiences with me.) She added, 'Kyunki hum vaha the aur I think that was the first incident. Kyunki Bhavya 2017 ya 2018 mai gaya hai shayad. Toh usko jo bhi shayad movie karni thi aur jo bhi inka panga hua and paise rok liye in logon ne." (We know about Bhavya's situation because we were present during the incident, which I think was the first of its kind. Bhavya must have left in 2017 or 2018. So whatever movie project he had, there seems to have been a conflict that led to the withholding of payments.) Further, she spoke about how the makers and Asit Modi didn't pay the dues of many, including Shailesh Lodha, Raj Anadkat, Neha Mehta, and others. Jennifer Mistry on Disha Vakani's Exit Jennifer further shared that she had begged Asit and his team not to replace her when she was pregnant, but they didn't listen to her. And now, when they are asking Disha to return, she isn't. When asked if a toxic culture made Disha quit the show, Jennifer revealed, 'Usko seedhi chadhna mana tha toh uske liye stretcher jaisa tha, uspe bitha ke upar le jaate the. Kyunki upar shoot karna rehta tha kisi ek interior mein." (She was not allowed to climb stairs. There was a stretcher-like thing, and she was made to sit on that, and then she was taken upstairs whenever they wanted to shoot in an interior.)
