"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Trivia And Easter Eggs
The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of the most significant teen shows of the decade — and with Season 3 coming out soon, it's the perfect time to dive into the show's behind-the-scenes lore. Here are some interesting facts and Easter eggs you won't want to miss... Lola Tung and Chris Briney, who play Belly and Conrad, had to do their chemistry test over Zoom back in 2021 when the series was in pre-production. And they nailed it! 🔥 Lola fractured her foot while filming the very first episode of Season 1. "We were filming the flashback scene," she revealed. "We were running around the table and I jumped to grab the muffin from Sean and I landed weird and fractured my foot." The show is set in Cape Cod but is filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, which is a hotspot for teen TV — iconic series Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, and the more recent show Outer Banks were also filmed there. Jenny Han, who is both the creator of the show and the author of the books it's based on, has a cameo in each season — in Season 1, she appears at the deb ball, and in Season 2 she's a customer at the gas station. Keep your eyes peeled for her in Season 3. Taylor Swift features heavily on the soundtrack for The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is a nice full-circle detail, considering Jenny Han says she listened to Taylor's album Fearless on loop while writing the original books. Some of Belly's looks in Season 1 were directly inspired by Olivia Hussey as Juliet in the 1968 film version of Romeo and Juliet. Lola Tung went to high school with two of her co-stars — David Iacono, who plays one of her love interests, Cam, and Sean Kaufman, who plays her brother, Steven. The three of them attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. The cast seems to have as much fun on set as their characters do — between filming, they do things like play baseball, play chess, game, go on picnics, and have pillow fights. Although they do have tense moments too — Chris revealed Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah, didn't talk to him after he went "too far" filming a Season 2 scene where Conrad is mean to Jeremiah and Belly. Chris apologized and made up with Gavin. Gavin credits spending all his time at the beach playing beach volleyball and swimming in the ocean with giving him such incredible curls. Jenny Han says she drew on the movie Beaches for inspiration for the platonic soul mates story of Susannah and Laurel. Laurel's memoir being named It's Not Summer Without You is not only an emotional tribute to Susannah, it's a nod to the title of the second book in Jenny Han's original series. There's a small moment in a Season 2 flashback where Laurel knocks over letters Susannah is writing to her sons — foreshadowing a mix-up with them that is a major plot point in book 3 and, presumably, Season 3. Season 2 had all female directors across its eight episodes. Zoe Cassavetes directed Episodes 1 and 2, Isabel Sandoval directed Episodes 3 and 4, Sophia Takal directed Episodes 5 and 6, and Megan Griffiths (pictured above) directed Episodes 7 and 8. In the final episode of Season 2, both Belly and Conrad are bathed in warm light in the motel, while Jeremiah is in the cool lighting — suggesting Belly's heart is ultimately still with Conrad. The Season 3 teaser poster visually references the movie Sabrina. The characters actually go to see Sabrina at the drive-in in Season 1. Like The Summer I Turned Pretty, it's about an "ugly ducking" who gets a glow-up and is pursued by two rich brothers she's grown up with. Many fans believe the poster is a hint that Belly will definitely choose Conrad in the show, like Sabrina chooses Linus (Humphrey Bogart's character). Are you Team Bonrad or Team Jelly? 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Cast Teases Intense "Heartbreak" After That Major Time Jump. See The New Pics!
There's nothing more magical than sitting down with your BFF and your favorite soda to watch . The final season of the summer romance show is premiering on Prime Video July 16, and thanks to , we have some brand new photos. Let's just get into 'em because I can't wait any longer! When The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 opens, Belly and Jeremiah have been dating for two years — and to help them get into that relationship mindset, Jenny Han had Lola Tung and Gavin Casalegno compete against Rain Spencer and Sean Kaufman (Taylor and Steven) with a questionnaire and scavenger hunt. Who won? They're still debating it. Either way, the start of season 3 proves just how strong JellyFish is going, and the Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah debate is sure to get even hotter. "A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken," Jenny Han tells EW. "Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there's no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone's going to be hurt by it." "They say even though heartbreak sucks and hurts real bad, that means that you felt something, right?" Lola Tung adds. "So even if you walk away from it feeling a little heartbroken and sad, it's like, 'At least we were able to make you feel something.' You're here to break hearts as much as fill hearts." But don't worry fellow Conrad lovers. We get a closer-than-ever look at his character considering Christopher Briney was tapped to do one of the episode's voiceovers (a job usually reserved for Lola, with the exception of Gavin's season 2 narration). "It's cool to steal the voiceover spot for a little while," he says. "It's fun to have exactly what the subtext is. It makes the scene easier, because that's half the work." Either way, post-grad Conrad is a little bit blonder and a little less moody, which is going to make me swoon even harder. And author extraordinaire Laurel is getting down to business... ...as is Steven. But two years into his romance with Taylor, things are a little less stable between this duo. "If the final season was an ice cream flavor for Steven and Taylor, it'd be Rocky Road," Sean Kaufman tells EW. "She and Steven have broken up and gotten back together more times than anyone remembers, and their relationship status is so confusing," Rain Spencer adds. "They don't even know what it is. But there will be romance. I'm rooting for them." After that "Snow on the Beach" moment? Say it isn't so! No matter how many times you've read the series, Jenny Han promises "there are surprises. And there are things that aren't exactly like the books." "But you don't really know," Gavin Casalegno says, while Lola chimes in with, "You have no clue." "You have not read the scripts!" Chris says. We'll have to wait until July 16 to see exactly what goes down in Cousins Beach this year. Check out why .

Amazon Prime ends 10 TV shows in major cull of hit content
Amazon Prime Video is saying goodbye to not one, not two, but 10 long and short-lived shows in a huge shake-up of its content. There are a variety of reasons this slate of TV shows is coming to an end, whether they have reached their natural conclusion, are a victim of Freevee shutting down or received poor ratings. The slew of show closures kicked off at the beginning of this year with New York-based comedy Harlem – praised for its portrayal of modern Black womanhood – dropping its third and final season. The show's creator Tracy Oliver was forced to 'scrap' original plans after finding out it was unlikely to get another renewal and ultimately made sure the characters got a 'satisfying', if not premature, ending. Following hot on its heels with another major show touted as a fan-favourite is The Summer I Turned Pretty, which will release its third and final season in July. It will not return for a fourth outing. The popular young adult romance series is based on a trilogy by Jenny Han, who is also a showrunner on the adaptation. The plot follows the love triangle between our protagonist Belly, and brothers Jeremiah and Conrad 'over one perfect summer'. Jenny has always made clear that there would be a season per book so fans have been anticipating the bittersweet end. Next, although Priyanka Chopra's spy series Citadel will come back for season two next year, the spin-off shows Honey Bunny and Diana have no such luck. Prime Video broke the news in April, reassuring fans that the plotlines would instead be incorporated into the main show to make it the 'most exhilarating' chapter yet. So, for any concerned fans, it won't be the last we see of these storylines despite the cancellations. Rolling in next, we have Filipino-American drama Almost Paradise which arrived on Amazon for its second season. Unfortunately, it is now collateral damage as Amazon winds down its Freevee service to simplify its streaming. But for fans hoping to see more of Ex-DEA agent Alex Walker (Christian Kane) there is hope yet after executive producer Dean Devlin told TV Insider that they are 'looking for a new home'. 'At some point, Almost Paradise will be back. I just don't know when,' he promised. In another shock turn of events, Amazon Prime's adaptation of Naomi Alderman's 2016 sci-fi novel The Power, starring Toni Colette, has been canned. The show, which follows a world in which teenage girls are suddenly given the power to electrocute people, was quietly put to rest earlier this year after only nine episodes. Elsewhere, Amazon's 90s reboot of Cruel Intentions proved to be not quite the success they were hoping for. The revival, starring Sarah Catherine Hook and Zac Burgess, failed to make a splash with viewership or critical reviews, petering out into an almost inevitable axe. Finally, we have a trio of ill-fated comedies. First up is The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, following the antics of an immigrant family and starring British comedian Sindhu Vee and Lost's Naveen Andrews. Unfortunately, the Freevee shuffle-up which has hit many of the smaller shows much harder meant this hasn't been given the second series order. In much the same vein, the sitcom Clean Slate, which featured late TV star Norman Lear in his final project, will also not be returning. The show, starring Laverne Cox, follows an Alabama car wash owner rebuilding their relationship with their adult trans daughter. In a statement, Laverene as well as co-creators George Wallace and Dan Ewen said it was a 'labour of love' and a 'seven-year effort' that 'was gone in a puff of server exhaust.' More Trending And finally, we have The Sticky – a six-episode heist comedy series guest starring Jamie Lee Curtis. The intriguing Canadian series was based on a true crime story of a real-life 2012 heist where more than $18 million worth of maple syrup was stolen from Quebec's national reserves. But for every cancellation, there is also plenty of new and returning content. This year certified Prime Video hit Clarkson's Farm will be coming back for another round. View More » There is also the adaptation of the bestselling novel We Were Liars to look forward to in June. And who can forget the second season of delightful period drama Maxton Hall set to come out at the end of this year. Got a story? Here's why 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' is saying goodbye after season 3
Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty is gearing up for a highly anticipated return with season 3, which will also mark the end of the fan-favorite series. Based on Jenny Han's beloved novel trilogy, the show follows Belly Conklin as she navigates the tangled emotions of love, friendship, and family during her yearly stays at Cousins Beach with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. Season 1 introduced the charm and drama of Belly's coming-of-age story, capturing her evolving feelings for the Fisher brothers. Season 2, adapted from It's Not Summer Without You, dove deeper into heartbreak, family tragedy, and emotional conflicts as the group grappled with Susannah's illness. Season 3, which is based on the final book, We'll Always Have Summer, is expected to bring closure to Belly's love triangle and the bittersweet end of her childhood summers. Though the show has been wildly successful since its debut, Prime Video confirmed that season 3 will be its last. The decision to end the series after three seasons reflects a commitment to staying true to Jenny Han's original trilogy. Attempting a fourth season without source material 'has the potential to drag out the story longer than necessary and severely hurt the themes of growing up, friendship, family, and romance.' Viewers might also find an added season 'unnecessary and unfaithful to the original plot,' ultimately weakening the emotional impact the story has built across its three parts. Season 3 premieres July 16, 2025, and promises to give fans a heartfelt conclusion to the story that's defined a generation of summer love.

The Summer I Turned Pretty returns for its final season on Prime Video
Prime Video has announced that the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will premiere on July 16, 2025. The hit teen drama, based on Jenny Han's bestselling novels, will conclude with an extended season featuring 11 episodes. To build anticipation, a new poster has been released showing main character Belly (Lola Tung) caught in the emotional center of the show's iconic love triangle. In the image, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) leans in to kiss her cheek, while Conrad (Christopher Briney) looks on jealously—a visual teaser of the romantic tension fans can expect in the final season. The official synopsis describes the series as 'a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship.' Created and executive produced by Jenny Han, who also authored the source material, The Summer I Turned Pretty has built a devoted fanbase over its first two seasons. With season 3, the story of Belly and her complicated relationships is set to reach an emotional conclusion. As one of Prime Video's most talked-about coming-of-age dramas, the series blends romance, family dynamics, and personal growth, making it a summer staple since its debut. Season 3 is expected to deliver both closure and emotional resonance, wrapping up one of the platform's most popular young adult adaptations.
