Aston Villa make contact with Real Betis over deal for Spain U-21 winger Jesus Rodriguez - who has also attracted interest from Chelsea
Aston Villa have made contact with Real Betis over a deal for winger Jesus Rodriguez who has attracted attention from Chelsea. Unai Emery is looking to improve his options out wide this summer and Villa have registered their interest in Rodriguez, the promising 19-year-old. Rodriguez is currently on international duty with Spain at the U-21 European Championships and comes into the tournament off the back of his breakout season. He scored three goals in his 32 senior appearances across all competitions during the last campaign, and he is a product of Betis' youth system. A winger who predominantly plays on the left, Rodriguez was brought on as a second-half substitute in Betis' Conference League final defeat to Chelsea. Villa must balance their books before the Profit and Sustainability Rules deadline on June 30 and may therefore have to offload players. However, the club are also working on incomings and Rodriguez is a potential target. Villa recently missed out on the signing of Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan after he agreed to join Manchester City in a deal worth £12.5million. Emery may be braced to lose several of his senior first-teamers. Chelsea and Arsenal admire Morgan Rogers, but it would take a sizeable bid for Villa to consider selling.

Aston Villa open talks for 19-year-old La Liga wonderkid
Real Betis enjoyed a brilliant second half of the season, resulting in an historic run to the Conference League final against Chelsea. However Los Verdiblancos are in danger of losing two the instigators of that excellent form. One of those is a case of seduction, as Betis hope to bring back Brazilian winger Antony, who played a starring role in the final months for Betis. In that instance, Betis must hope that nobody comes in with an acceptable offer for Manchester United, and they can bring him back on loan. Jesus Rodriguez future in doubt The other concern is potentially losing one of their rough diamonds in winger Jesus Rodriguez. Bursting onto the scene at the age of just 19, his direct running and pace were important for Manuel Pellegrini on the left flank. The concern is that the Premier League may come calling. Rodriguez has already had his contract extended until 2029. He has a release clause of €50m, and Fabrizio Romano reports that Villa have opened talks with Betis over a potential deal. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool scout Rodriguez Earlier in the season it was reported that Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool had all sent scouts to watch the teenage winger at the Benito Villamarin, and it does not seem to be ruled out that Los Verdiblancos could cash in on him. In recent weeks Rodriguez revealed on television that his agent was speaking to clubs, even if he was happy at Betis, and they would assess any offers that arrived. Image viaBetis sold another teenage academy product in Assane Diao to Como in January, after a similarly promising opening six months to his professional career. That said, his value dropped after losing his spot in the line-up, and Betis may feel they are best off selling while his value is high.

Aston Villa make approach to sign Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis
Aston Villa have made an approach to sign Real Betis winger Jesus Rodriguez. The Athletic reported in the Transfer DealSheet on June 3 that Villa are looking increase their wide forward options this summer. Villa's main focus is to balance books before the June 30 profitability and sustainability deadline, but the club also want to sign a wide player and Rodriguez is among the options senior figures have contacted to outline parameters of a potential deal. Advertisement Rodriguez, 19, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Betis, scoring three goals in 31 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's side having graduated through the club's youth system. He is a winger who plays predominantly on the left flank and was a second-half substitute in the side's Conference League final defeat to Chelsea. Rodriguez has appeared three times this calendar year for Spain's under-21 side, while he has started 20 matches for Betis — who recorded a sixth-place finish in La Liga last season. Analysis by Jacob Tanswell Villa are targeting a couple of positions — namely right-back, centre-back and a versatile attacker — but strengthening in the wide areas is needed. Leon Bailey is expected to leave in this window, with Saudi Arabian clubs expressing an interest. This would leave Villa without an archetypal wide player, with Lewis Dobbin expected to go on loan again next season and Samuel Iling-Junior unlikely to get the regular game-time he wants, should he return to Villa after loans at Bologna and Middlesbrough last season. Additionally, there are questions as to whether his long-term future instead lies at left-back. Rodriguez typically operates from the left side at Real Betis but suits Unai Emery's preference for his attackers to be versatile and play in multiple positions across the frontline. Should Villa pursue a deal, the 19-year-old would offer pace and a threat in behind.

"That would allow them to fully buy in and build around the style that Ruben Amorim wants. "They have a large sum of money to then choose players that fit the direction the club wants to go in. "I'm not sure if Amorim wants to build the team around Bruno." Today, 12:30 By Henry Tomlinson Osimhen boost Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their hopes of signing Viktor Osimhen. "He's decided on Chelsea and United have to accept that at the moment the club is not as alluring as it once was given there is no Champions League football, finishing fifth bottom in the Premier League, we are now relying on the name alone to attract players." They're so supportive. Ayden Heaven Man Utd Today, 09:30 By Henry Tomlinson Robertson hits out at United Andy Robertson has hit out at Manchester United for showing Scott McTominay a "lack of respect". I think he went over there with a point to prove. I think he wanted to prove Man Utd wrong and prove people in the Premier League wrong. And he's went over there and done that pretty successfully. That's credit to him, credit to his attitude and his determination to be the best version of himself. Now he's a king over there. At Man Utd he probably lacked getting that run of games consistently, he was in and out and things like that. He probably didn't get the respect he deserves. Then he goes over there, puts in a magnificent season and fair play to him, to end it with the league title. Scott is a winner, we see that every day in training because he sets standards, looks after himself. He talks to the young lads and tries to give off his experience. The former Tottenham midfielder believes that the Red Devils should only pay him a fraction of that amount. £250,000-a-week? That's quite steep, isn't it? From Brentford! I'll be rocking up and saying, 'I'm at Brentford and by the way, if you want me, I want £250,000-a-week'. Today, 07:00 By Henry Tomlinson Leverkusen want Antony Bayer Leverkusen are targeting Manchester United ace Antony as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz, who appears close to a move to Liverpool. If United allow the winger to leave then they would prefer a permanent deal.
