Immigration nabs 32 foreigners in raid on 'Mini Pakistan' near Ayer Hitam
AYER HITAM: Thirty-two foreigners were detained in a raid conducted by the Johor Immigration Department at a place dubbed 'Mini Pakistan' in Ayer Hitam town near here. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the raid was carried out following complaints from the public and intelligence gathering. He said the operation codenamed Ops Belanja, Ops Selera, Ops Sapu and Ops Kutip was held on Wednesday (Aug 6) starting from 2.25pm. 'We also detained three local men who are the business owners and supervisors of the detained foreigners," Mohd Rusdi said in a statement. He said the foreigners were 20 Pakistani males, nine Bangladeshi men, an Indonesia man and two Indonesian women adding all detainees including three local men aged between 20 and 54. Mohd Rusdi said the illegal foreign workers have committed offences under the Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155). 'We will continue to work closely with other enforcement agencies to eradicate the influx of illegal immigrants in the state," he said. Mohd Rusdi said Johor Immigration will not compromise and will take stern actions against employers and business owners for employing illegal foreign workers.

Johor Immigration detains 27 foreign workers
JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Immigration Department detained 27 foreign workers without valid permits in Op Selera at a food premises in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya here on Monday. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the integrated operation, involving 25 officers from the department's enforcement division, was conducted as a result of intelligence and public information regarding their activities at the premises. He said the arrests involved eight Indonesian men and eight women, five Myanmar men and six women aged between 18 and 50. "All of them are suspected of committing offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963 as well as Regulation 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. "Meanwhile, a local man who is the owner of the premises was also detained under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring foreigners," he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Rusdi said all the detainees were placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action, in addition to being issued three notices to appear at the Immigration Department to assist in the ongoing investigation. "At the same time, we would like to remind the public and employers not to harbour or employ illegal immigrants to work as legal action would be taken against them. "Therefore, employers are advised to contact the nearest immigration office directly to obtain accurate (and authentic) information if there is a party claiming to be able to manage foreign workers," he added. – Bernama

Johor immigration detains 27 foreign workers in ops
JOHOR BAHRU: The Malaysian Immigration Department detained 27 foreign workers without valid permits during Ops Selera at a food premises in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya. Johor immigration denies link to bogus donation appeal
JOHOR BARU: The Johor Immigration Department has denied involvement in a fraudulent donation drive letter falsely using its name, and has urged the public to remain alert to scams exploiting its official identity. The forged letter, which includes fake payment receipts, claims to solicit donations from the public and business community for a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme involving 500 orphans. In a statement today, Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the department did not issue any fundraising appeal or donation drive, nor were any official receipts circulated. Members of the public have been warned against responding to suspicious messages, including those sent via SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat or phone calls referencing the scam. Rusdi urged anyone who may have made payments in relation to the fake campaign to lodge a police report immediately for further investigation. "The misuse of our official name and emblem is a serious offence. Action will be taken against any party found guilty of misleading the public," he said. Rusdi also reminded the public not to be easily deceived by unsolicited requests, especially those exploiting the name of government agencies under the guise of charity.

114 undocumented migrants held in raids on Johor factories
JOHOR BARU: More than 100 foreign nationals have been arrested following multiple raids on factories across five districts in Johor. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the detainees, aged between 21 and 55, were taken in during Ops Gempur Sasar on Wednesday (May 28). 'The raids, which focused on factories, were carried out simultaneously in Johor Baru, Muar, Segamat, Mersing and Batu Pahat. 'A total of 114 foreigners from eight countries were arrested in the raids after inspections were carried out on some 511 people,' he said in a statement on Friday (May 30). He said the suspects, including 10 women, were from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia. 'We also arrested four local men between 50 and 60 years old who are company owners and managers,' he said. Rusdi said the foreign nationals are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963, while the Malaysians are being investigated under Section 55E of the same Act for allowing undocumented foreigners to enter or stay in their premises. 'We have also issued notices to 10 individuals to report to the Immigration office to assist in the investigation,' he said.
