Dolly Parton's faith helps her cope with Carl Dean's passing
Dolly Parton expects to be reunited with Carl Dean in the afterlife. The 79-year-old music icon lost her husband earlier this year, aged 82, but Dolly's faith has helped her to cope with the heartbreak. She told The Independent: "I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I'm going to see him again someday. "And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we've built together. You just kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans – but that's the hardest part." Dolly has felt lonely since losing her husband. However, she's also relieved that he's "not suffering anymore" after being ill "for quite a while". She shared: "I really feel his presence. I just try to go on, because I know I have to. And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn't make up for the loss and the loneliness of it." Carl was always "very proud" of the chart-topping country music star. And Dolly is now determined to throw her "energy" into new projects. The 'Jolene' hitmaker said: "When I did lose him, I just thought, well, I'm going to take all of that energy, and I'm just going to put that back into other things, and I'll keep him ever-present in everything that I do." Dolly described herself as a "workhorse that looks like a show horse". The singer - who has an autobiographical musical in the works - said: "My husband always said, 'If anybody was ever born to be a star, it's you.' Because he sees me loving to do all the things and playing and stuff – it's play time for me. But I take it very serious." Carl made a concerted effort to keep a low profile during his life, and Dolly previously admitted that they were "completely opposite" characters. She told People in 2015: "They say that opposites attract, and it's true. We're completely opposite, but that's what makes it fun."

Dolly Parton details 'loneliness' after husband's death - 'I see him every day'
Dolly Parton's husband, Carl Dean, died on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82 after nearly 60 years of marriage Dolly Parton revealed her 'loneliness' after her husband Carl Dean's death earlier this year. He passed away on March 3, 2025 at the age of 82 after nearly 60 years of marriage. The couple had been married since 1966, after first getting together two years prior. In 2016, the pair renewed their vows to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. At the time of his death, a statement released on behalf of the superstar to announce the tragic news about her beloved husband said: "Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away on March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie. "Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time." Almost three months on from his death, Dolly opened up about how she's doing, revealing she 'truly believes she's going to see him again someday'. The star confessed she 'sees him every day in her memories and in her heart' during a chat with The Independent. The 10-time Grammy winner went on to say: "I really feel his presence. "I just try to go on, because I know I have to. And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn't make up for the loss and the loneliness of it." Dolly previously shared an update with concerned fans, saying she was "doing better than I thought I would." Speaking to Knox News, she said: 'I've been with him 60 years. So, I'm going to have to relearn some of the things that we've done. "But I'll keep him always close.' The Jolene singer also emotionally revealed that Carl had 'suffered a great deal' towards the end of his life. 'I'm at peace that he's at peace, but that don't keep me from missing him and loving him… "It's a hole in my heart, you know, but we'll fill that up with good stuff and he'll still always be with me," she said. Later thanking fans for their kind messages, Dolly shared: "Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you've sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl. "I can't reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me. He is in God's arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you."

Dolly Parton on the ‘hardest part' of widowhood
Dolly Parton says her faith has been a source of strength following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March. Parton says she truly believes she will see Dean again someday, and she holds him close 'in my memories and in my heart'. She says the 'hardest part' about living without her husband is learning to make new plans. They were married for nearly 60 years, and Dean, who inspired Parton's hit 'Jolene' and her 2023 album Rockstar, was always proud of her, Parton says. The singer is channeling her energy into new projects, including a book titled Star of the Show and an autobiographical musical premiering in Nashville in July.

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus Reunite With Help From Country Legend Dolly Parton
Miley Cyrus has been at odds with dad Billy Ray Cyrus for a long while, but insiders now reveal the 'Flowers' songbird is offering an olive branch to her father, hoping to pull their fractured family together — and she has country godmother Dolly Parton to thank. Sources say that the 79-year-old 'I Will Always Love You' singer has been urging the 32-year-old singer to chuck her grudges, and Miley's answered the call — reuniting with Billy Ray to celebrate her brother Braison's 31st birthday May 9. 'My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,' the 'Wrecking Ball' singer says. 'I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.' According to a insider, Miley's words were sweet music to Dolly's ears. 'Dolly is Miley's godmother and they've been close since Miley was so young,' says an insider. 'But Dolly is also close with Billy Ray and the family feud was breaking her heart.' The 'Jolene' singer reportedly advised Miley that the only way Billy Ray can snap out of what seems to be a midlife crisis is if his family is unified and focused on helping him. As GLOBE revealed, the family disapproved of the 'Achy Breaky Heart' crooner's marriage to 28-years-younger Aussie singer Firerose that ended in a bitter divorce after just seven months. Last January, Dolly, fans and family grew concerned after Billy Ray's bizarre performance at President Donald Trump's inauguration where he appeared confused by a bunch of technical difficulties and at one point asked the audience: 'Y'all want me to sing more, or you want me to just get the hell off the stage?' Now Billy Ray's been trying to find a way back into the hearts of his family, saying how proud he is of daughters Noah Cyrus and Miley on social media. 'Dolly believes he's embarrassed by his massive misfire with Firerose and his efforts to mend bridges with his kids and his ex Tish Cyrus are sincere,' notes the insider. While she's skeptical over Billy Ray's new romance with Austin Powers beauty Elizabeth Hurley, sources say she believes the British siren is a major upgrade. 'Dolly's been urging Miley to give her dad another chance and you can imagine how thrilled she is that Miley's followed her advice,' adds the source.

Dolly Parton hints Cowboy Carter tour appearance
Dolly Parton says she could show up to Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour. The 79-year-old country music legend was "very honoured" when the Single Ladies hitmaker, 43, remade her 1973 classic - but with a "twist" where she warns Jolene to stay clear of her man. Asked if she can be expected at one of the shows on the mammoth stadium tour, Dolly told the HuffPost: "You never know ― anything is possible! Because she really is doing great with that (tour)." On being "very amused" by Beyoncé's take on Jolene, she added: "I was very honoured that she wanted to do her version of Jolene. "That's all a great compliment to me, when somebody wants to do my songs in any version. "I was very amused by her take on that, and I got a big kick out of that. "She's not gonna sit back and say, 'Oh please don't take my man.' She's gonna kick some ass!" Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour by raking in a record-setting $55.7 million gross. The Crazy In Love hitmaker finished a run of five gigs at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on May 9, and pulled in well over $50 million with 217,000 tickets sold. As reported by Rolling Stone magazine, the Los Angeles run was the "biggest reported single-venue engagement" of the year so far. It was also the fifth-highest grossing tour stop in Boxscore history, beaten only by U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas across 2023 and 2024, Harry Styles at New York's Madison Square Garden in 2022, and Take That's Wembley Stadium run in 2011. What's more, it also marked the highest-grossing single-venue engagement in history by a female artist. Beyoncé started her tour on April 28 and returned to the venue on May 1, 4, 7 and 9, pulling in an average of $11.1 million per night with over 43,000 fans in attendance for each show. With three performances as SoFi in 2023, her eight gigs in total was more than any other artist in the venue's five-year history. On the opening night of the SoFi run, the Grammy Award-winner was joined onstage by her daughters Blue Ivy Carter and Rumi Carter. Blue Ivy, 13, danced with her famous mother during her performance of America Has A Problem. Later on, it was time for Beyoncé and Jay-Z's seven-year-old, Rumi Carter, to make her onstage debut. As Beyoncé belted out the moving ballad Protector, Rumi and her big sister stood with her under the spotlight. Following the performance, pictures of Beyoncé and her three children - also including Rumi's twin brother Sir - appeared on a big screen behind her.
