Sadhna Broadcast case: Sebi bans Arshad Warsi, wife Maria Goretti from the securities market; actor fined Rs 5 lakh

Sadhna Broadcast case: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has barred actor Arshad Warsi, his wife Maria Goretti, and 57 others from being involved in securities markets for periods ranging from one to five years. Further, the regulatory body has imposed financial penalties ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 5 crore on 57 other parties. The transactions had an impact on pricing largely due to limited market liquidity. This gave the concerned parties an opportunity to boost the share value while utilising negligible trading resources. After this, promotional content was broadcast on various YouTube channels. These videos projected SBL as a top-notch investment option and went hand-in-hand with the orchestrated market activities Arshad Warsi and Maria Goretti married in 1996. They have two children. Huma Qureshi: The ‘Maharani' of reinvention

Huma Qureshi has had a lot brewing lately. As if her acting duties weren't enough, she has donned the cape of a producer, written a novel that she hopes to adapt into a feature, and is developing a sari also the passion project of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saleem's, her father's famous restaurant in New Delhi. At India Today's Indo-UAE Conclave 2025 in Dubai recently, Qureshi said she's enjoying her current state of 'exploration'. It has seen her as the face of one of streaming's popular and longest-running series in Maharani (on SonyLIV) and amassing quite an upcoming roster with a new season of Delhi Crime, a new edition of the Jolly LLB franchise, and being part of the highly-anticipated Yash-starrer two kids who came from Delhi not knowing a single person in Mumbai to have reached this far has been nothing short of magical,' said Qureshi of her and brother Saqib Saleem's journey in the Hindi film industry. 'Despite all claims of the industry being so closed, it still opened its arms to both of us and gave a lot of opportunities.'Qureshi has been riding the streaming wave successfully, having been part of Leila and Mithya as well as the beloved Netflix film Monica, O My Darling, where her titular act of a femme fatale, unlike one she's done before, won her much appreciation. 'I just like to have fun with my characters. The only rule I have is that I will never repeat myself,' said Qureshi. Her stubbornness, she noted, came in handy as she has worked towards picking parts that break stereotypes. 'I guess anytime someone said you can't, mustn't and shouldn't do this, I have always questioned 'Why not?' That's the key defining factor for me as an artiste and an individual,' she mentality took her far and helped cope with challenges. There have been doubts, mistakes committed and comparisons made, but what's worked is that she decided 'to be true to yourself'. Qureshi won't let industry expectations of appearance weigh her down or determine her choices.'Why am I expected to always try and look younger than who I am? If a great script comes my way, I should say no to it because I am afraid of portraying someone who is a few years older than me?' Instead, Qureshi, 38, takes control of her own narrative, be it being one of the first to ride the OTT wave to leave a distinct mark on all her characters. Her only grouse—she wants more dancing parts. 'I am such a good dancer,' she said. 'It's such an unfortunate thing. Can we start a petition?'HUMA UNCUT@INDO-UAE CONCLAVE* 'Every time someone tries to put me in a box, I am like 'No, give me a reason why?''* 'There are parts I can do but I don't get the calls. So what do I do? Sit at home and cry ki mujhe mauka nahin mil raha hai? I am not going to lament. I am going to go out there, take control of my own narrative and choose the stories I want to tell and the filmmakers I want to work with.'advertisement* 'I feel like now we are in the 2.0 era of the OTT revolution where we need to rethink what kind of stories we are putting out there and who we want to reach.'* 'For sure female-led shows and films are doing extremely well. But I will give you something to chew on. I am part of one of the most-watched-and-loved show Maharani, but am I getting paid as much as the male counterparts who are doing shows? Far from it.'* 'I just like to have fun with my characters. The only rule I have is that I will never repeat myself.'Subscribe to India Today Magazine

Sushil Pandey recalls working with Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi in 'Jolly LLB': 'Akshay came up behind me, hugged me tightly and then leaned in close to kiss me on the cheek'

Actor Sushil Pandey is all set for the release of his next film, 'Phule', co-starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha. As the Anant Mahadevan directorial was delayed, Sushil spoke to ETimes about how hurtful the recent legal tensions were. He also reminisced about his experiences working on ' Article 15 ' with Ayushmann Khurrana and the ' Jolly LLB ' franchise with Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi . Excerpts... How was it working with Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar in the Jolly LLB franchise? On the first day of my shoot of Jolly LLB, we began with my scene, and as soon as Arshad arrived on set, we clicked instantly during rehearsals. We spent that time chatting about our characters' emotions—what to do, what not to do—and I found him to be a true gentleman and incredibly funny. He could make me laugh in the most serious moments. I remember saying, 'Sir, don't make me laugh now—I have to cry in this scene!' And he replied, 'You get the headache; I don't!' Since then, I've been in part three too, and he's always been very kind. Akshay sir is equally warm. We bonded well on sets of Jolly LLB 2 and Jolly LLB 3. I have often felt that actors get typecast based on one role, which isn't a complaint but simply how casting works. Early in my career in Mumbai, I was offered many serious parts. Even when working with Arshad and Akshay sir, I was cast in serious roles. I'm now eagerly hoping for something lighter and more comedic—I want to laugh and do something bizarre! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo Can you share a particularly memorable compliment you've received? It was during the shooting of Jolly LLB 2. I had a long monologue—around four or five pages—during an interrogation scene in court. The camera was set, Akshay sir was opposite me, and the courtroom was buzzing with extras. I rehearsed once with Subhash (Kapoor) ji, just to get the lines out with no emotion, and he asked if we should rehearse with Akshay sir first. I said, 'Sir, if you're ready, let's roll for the take.' We did it in one go. Though much of the scene was cut, it was still a big moment. Shri Ramdas Athawale and Filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan Address Media for Film Phule After the take, Akshay sir came up behind me, hugged me tightly and for a long time, then leant in close and kissed me on the cheek. I was so moved—he asked 'how do you do this?' , 'Suddenly I got emotional. I said, sir, we do it with fear. We won't get another chance!' He hugged me again, then took me to Subhash ji and urged, 'Sir, cast him—give him more work; he's brilliant.' To have someone of Akshay Kumar's stature praise you like that is extraordinary. Similarly, Ayushmann Khurrana was wonderful to me in my first film, Article 15. During filming, I later discovered that he had recommended me for the role. I approached Anubhav sir for Article 15 without knowing I'd been put forward by Saurabh Shukla. It turned out Saurabh sir had told Anubhav sir, 'There's a boy I haven't met yet, but he's a fantastic actor—cast him.' That's how I landed the role. These moments—when senior actors or directors support you and appreciate your work—are priceless. They give you renewed energy to push your craft further. I cherish those memories always.
