Nintendo has updated its Switch 2 game compatibility page, identifying over 100 titles with 'start up issues' on the upcoming console
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Nintendo's list of compatible Switch games for Switch 2 has been updated The company has identified well over 100 games with start-up issues The vast majority should still work without issue on the new system The list of Nintendo Switch 2 games that could have compatibility issues at launch has been updated by the company. Nintendo's compatibility page has links to three PDFs. These highlight 115 games "with start up issues on Nintendo Switch 2," 46 games that successfully start up but may have some compatibility issues, and finally 49 games that have issues "planned to be addressed at launch or shortly after." Furthermore, Nintendo has highlighted software that outright cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2. These include Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit, as well as video apps including Crunchyroll, Niconico, Abema, and Hulu. The comics and manga app InkyPen will also be unusable. It remains to be seen if these apps will receive dedicated Switch 2 versions in the future. Lastly, a bunch of original Nintendo Switch games will require the use of that console's Joy-Con controllers, and presumably won't be compatible with the Joy-Con 2. These are as follows: Ring Fit Adventure 1-2 Switch Everybody 1-2 Switch! Game Builder Garage Nintendo Switch Sports WarioWare: Move It! Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 03: Vehicle Kit So far, Nintendo has tested well over 15,000 Nintendo Switch games for Nintendo Switch 2. The vast majority, around 99% of Nintendo games and 65% of third-party games, have no compatibility issues. For everything else, the issues are at least being investigated by Nintendo, and it should be fair to expect most Switch 1 games to work just fine on Switch 2 by the end of 2025. Nintendo Switch 2 UK pre-orders are selling out fast – here's where to buy a console today
If you thought pre-ordering a console would be easy this time around, think again. Nintendo 's about to drop the Switch 2, and while it's not quite PS5 panic levels yet, nabbing a console is a little challenging. Launching on 5 June, the Switch 2 is Nintendo's long-awaited follow-up to the original hybrid console. It keeps the same play-anywhere concept, but upgrades things with a larger, HDR-enabled LCD screen, improved performance, and redesigned, magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers. But if you want one at launch, you'll have to act fast. Pre-orders have sold out almost every day since the console was first announced. Below, I'm rounding up all the retailers who currently have stock of the Nintendo Switch 2, plus the best accessories to go with your new console. The list will constantly be updated with all the latest stock information. Where to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 in the UK The Switch 2 keeps the same hybrid design as the original. You can play it handheld or dock it to your TV, but there are some improvements to the hardware. The new Switch has a bigger 7.9in HDR-ready LCD screen, 256GB of internal storage, and improved performance. The big change is a new pair of magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers. Unlike the original Switch, these new Joy-Cons can be used like computer mice, offering new ways to play and interact with the console. The standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console includes everything you need to get going. It comes with the console, the dock, a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, and a grip that turns the controllers into a single pad for comfort. It's backwards compatible with your existing Switch library, and now supports 4K output when docked. In our hands-on preview, The Independent 's Steve Hogarty called it 'a different beast entirely', praising the performance, visuals and the Joy-Con 2's mouse-style control trick. Right now, the standalone console is available to pre-order at Very, ShopTo, and the My Nintendo Store if you have an active Switch Online membership (was £6.99, now £5.99, It's coming in and out of stock at Amazon via a workaround link. Nintendo Switch 2 with 'Mario Kart World': £429.99, Nintendo's official Switch 2 bundle includes everything you get with the standalone console (the device, Joy-Con 2 controllers, grip, dock and cables) plus a digital download code for Mario Kart World. The game normally costs £79.99, so you save about £40 by picking up the bundle instead. In our hands-on preview, The Independent's Steve Hogarty called Mario Kart World 'the most exciting' of the new titles. 'It's absolutely massive,' he wrote, praising the expanded roster, new vehicle types and the game's ability to let players drift across water, not just under it as in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He also said Mario Kart 'looks spectacular on the big screen,' especially when docked and running in 4K at 120Hz. Right now, the official Mario Kart World bundle is in stock and available to pre-order at Very, the EE Store, ShopTo, the My Nintendo Store with an active Switch Online membership (was £6.99, now £5.99, and it's coming in and out of stock at Amazon using a workaround link. Best Nintendo Switch 2 bundles But that's not all. Other retailers are still offering the Switch 2 as part of bigger launch bundles, with some retailers packaging the console alongside extra Joy-Cons, charging docks, the new Switch 2 camera and additional games. Very Nintendo Switch 2 bundles Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, and Switch 2 camera: £479, Very has one extra Switch 2 bundle up for pre-order. As well as the console on its own and a bundle with Mario Kart World, there's also a £479 option that includes the new Switch 2 camera, which supports video chat and adds live video overlays in supported games. Currys doesn't have the standalone console or official Mario Kart World bundle in stock, but offers two higher-priced bundles for £569. One's geared at Mario Kart fans, with extra Joy-Cons, wheels and the Switch 2 camera, while the other is tailored to solo players, bundling in Street Fighter 6, a pro controller and the same camera accessory. As well as the standalone Switch 2 console and the official Mario Kart World bundle available on back order, independent games retailer ShopTo is offering three pre-order bundles. There is a travel-friendly kit, a bundle that's great for couch co-op, and a bundle that throws in a second controller pair and the Switch 2 camera. Nintendo Switch 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and Switch 2 camera: £484.95, Nintendo Switch 2, Split Fiction, and Switch 2 camera: £484.95, Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, Split Fiction, and Switch 2 camera: £519.95, Nintendo Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, microSD Express Card, and Switch 2 camera: £559.95, Nintendo Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman World of Assassination, microSD Express Card, and Switch 2 camera: £609.95, Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman World of Assassination, microSD card, and Switch 2 camera: £644.95, While the standalone Switch 2 console and official Mario Kart World bundle are coming in and out of stock at The Game Collection, the independent games retailer has a large number of pricier bundles still available. There are options with Hogwarts Legacy or Split Fiction and the new Switch 2 camera, and bigger bundles that include Cyberpunk, Hitman and memory cards for storing it all. Best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories and games Now that you've successfully pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch 2, you're probably looking to grab some accessories and new games to go with it. Nintendo is also selling extra storage, charging grips, Joy-Con 2 controllers and the Switch 2 camera. Donkey Kong Bananza, which is releasing in July, is also available to pre-order. The only other Switch 2 exclusive other than Mario Kart World is Donkey Kong Bananza. Launching on 17 July, Bananza is a fresh 3D platformer with a twist. As The Independent 's Steve Hogarty wrote in his hands-on preview, 'you can punch holes through rock to burrow a path toward your objective and pick up chunks of earth to hurl at enemies, leaving gaping, permanent holes in the landscape as you smash your way around levels'. The result is a game that feels part Minecraft, part classic Donkey Kong, with a fully destructible world that encourages chaotic exploration. The redesigned Switch 2 Pro Controller sees some big improvements over the original Switch Pro controller. It's a more traditional-looking gaming pad with better thumbsticks, extra durability, a new button for multiplayer social features, added shoulder buttons and improved rumble effects. The Switch 2 camera lets you video chat with friends during multiplayer games. A few launch titles make use of it too, like Super Mario Party Jamboree, where it lets you appear inside minigames to balance Goombas on your head and sing karaoke songs with friends. The Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage. This can quickly fill up with downloaded games, so it's worth investing in some added storage. Nintendo's official SanDisk microSD card comes with another 256GB of storage, with fast read and write speeds that work seamlessly with the Switch 2. Exclusive to the My Nintendo Store, the GameCube controller brings a touch of nostalgia to your console setup. Whether you're revisiting classics or just prefer the old-school layout, it's a must-have for long-time Nintendo fans. This official My Nintendo Store exclusive is designed to hold everything you need for TV-mode play, including the Switch 2 console, the dock, Joy-Con 2 controllers, various cables and up to six game cards. Its structured interior keeps your gear secure and organised, making it ideal for travel or tidy storage at home. Don't need an entire travel kit? The official option from Nintendo includes a screen protector and cleaning cloth, with room inside for up to six game cards and two Joy-Con 2 straps.

This dbrand Killswitch Case Should Be Your Next Switch 2 Pre-Order
Switch 2 Killswitch case with detachable JoyCons dbrand Thursday's Switch 2 pre-orders were the very definition of "a hot mess." Every retailer that offered the Switch 2 for pre-order at midnight had issues handling traffic or accurately reflecting pre-order status. For instance, I found out that my Target pre-order had gone through in the morning when I woke up and saw a confirmation email that'd arrived 30 minutes after I'd given up clicking the unresponsive Checkout button and gone to bed. GameStop wasn't much better when their site completely crashed upon the 11 AM ET pre-order launch. If you're one of the lucky ones that did manage to get a pre-order in (or you're hopeful for Nintendo's email system) it's time to start thinking about accessories. And while there are plenty of JoyCons, Pro Controllers, Piranha Plant cameras, and JoyCon wheels to buy, equally important is protection for your new system. Usually I'm not a case guy — I prefer to put my trust (however misplaced) in the engineering prowess of a company. But then dbrand revealed a case system so intriguing that it shot to the top of my accessories budget. Since dbrand launched their Killswitch line in 2022, they've been extremely popular, especially the Steam Deck version which The Verge dubbed the one accessory everyone should buy. And it's easy to see why! The grips are textured and grippy, the case itself offers military-level drop protection, and the cover is perfect for protecting your screen when you're on the go. Killswitch case with JoyCons attached dbrand For the new Switch 2 version, dbrand's taken everything they've learned with their other offerings and improved them. First off, despite the name, the Switch 2 Killswitch won't kill your Switch. In fact the drop-protection provided by the case should keep it protected from most incidental falls. What's nice is that the case is modular, so that the JoyCons are still detachable. The JoyCon covers add an ergonomic grip dbrand The JoyCon covers are particularly interesting. Not only are they textured, but they add an ergonomic grip that the controllers lack on their own. As someone who's spent many an hour hunched over their Switch OLED playing Hades, I can tell you that JoyCons are not comfortable to grip. The fact that this will make holding the Switch 2 more Steam Deck-like is quite welcome. It also adds a USB docking system that can be used as a display stand for your Switch 2. I'll admit, I don't entirely see the vision here? If I'm going to tabletop game with my Switch 2, I'll use the kickstand (which the Killswitch is compatible with) and if I'm going to dock it, I'm playing on my TV. But I like that this gives people options for continuing to comfortably play and charge their device at the same time. Travel cover with game collection dbrand Like the Steam Deck version, the Switch 2 Killswitch has a travel cover. Though it's oddly clear — but there's a method to dbrand's madness. That clear cover is compatible with the included game card holder! Given that the rumors of physical game cartridges costing more were completely baseless, those gameless game carts are going to be more common than you think. This gives you a place to display your collection while you take it with you on the road. It's a smart, contained solution and I love smart, contained solutions. Grippier than your standard joystick dbrand Finally, the Switch 2 Killswitch will come with rubberized joystick covers. They're molded and nubbly to ensure precise control even when you're on your 10th Mario Kart World race in a row. Pricing hasn't yet been provided, but I imagine it will be in the $70-$100 range, based on the pricing of the company's other Killswitch offerings. For now, you can pay $3 to secure early access for the June launch. That $3 will be credited towards your purchase (or you can get a refund if you change your mind). FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Checking out the dbrand Nintendo Switch 2 page reveals that they've got additional products coming to market to coincide with the June 5 launch. In addition to the Killswitch, they'll have a version of their "idiot proof" Prism 2.0 display protector. This has intrigued me for a while, as applying glass protectors are phenomenally difficult to do correctly. Their unique dust-eliminating applicator seems to have it all figured out. If you don't want a full protection package but want to add some funky style to your Switch 2, dbrand will have a wide array of skins available at launch as well. In addition to cool designs like Area 51 and glow-in-the-dark circuits, the company is creating Switch 2-specific skins. Given the quality of their previous designs, I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. You can register your email to get notified when they're available.
