The 'best power bank on the market' is only £20 and is ideal for Oasis reunion gigs
"I bought this power bank mainly for travelling and long days out, and it's been a total game-changer" With the Scottish dates for the highly anticipated Oasis gigs fast approaching, music fans will want to make sure their phone is fully charged. Keeping your mobile full of juice helps keep you safe when travelling to and from the gigs, as well as meaning you can capture any of their favourite songs in the set list. The Britpop icons will be taking to the stage at Murrayfield Stadium to perform three sold out shows on August 8, 9, and 12. However with thousands of people travelling to the concert, many people will be waiting in long queues before and after the set. For added peace of mind so fans can fully enjoy the experience, it may be a good idea to bring a portable charger along to the event. Easily slipped into your bag or pocket, this nifty device will be able to give your phone a much needed boost throughout the day. One device that is popular on Amazon is the JIGA Power Bank. Normally retailing for £38.06, shoppers can now snap it up for £19.99 in a limited time deal. As well as the 47 per cent discount, what drew many shoppers in with this device is the massive 27,000mAh battery, which reviewers have praised for giving their devices multiple chargers without really making a dent. With multiple inputs and outputs, shoppers will be able to charge three devices at once, so if someone accompanying you to the Oasis gig needs a quick phone boost, this can be done at the same time as your own. In order to check how much battery is remaining, the device also comes with an LED light indicator. Additionally, the power bank uses fast charging 22.5W technology to provide optimal charging by adjusting its settings. This will help cut the charging time of your phone by half while also protecting it from overvoltage. Another added bonus to this device is that it also comes with a bright torch to help users see in the dark. JIGA Power Bank £38.06 £19.99 Amazon Buy Now on Amazon Product Description Another popular portable charger on Amazon is the INIU Power Bank which boasts a 20,000mAh battery. Normally retailing for £32.99, shoppers can now grab it for £23.54. Able to provide 61 per cent charge in just 30 minutes, this charger comes with a LED display to help monitor the battery life. Alternatively, shoppers can save 25 per cent when they buy the Juice 20,000mAh Integrated Max Portable Power Bank from Argos. Now down to £22.49 (RRP £29.99), this portable charger is said to hold enough power to provide up to five charges. Back to the JIGA Power Bank, it currently holds a 4.2 star rating from over 23,600 Amazon shoppers. On top of this, over 3,000 people have bought the device in the past month to take with them on their travels or every day schedule. One delighted shopper said: "I bought this power bank mainly for travelling and long days out, and it's been a total game-changer. The 27,000mAh capacity is no joke—I can charge my phone (iPhone 13) about five to six times before needing to recharge the power bank itself. "It also works great with my brother's Samsung, and the fast charging actually is fast—way quicker than some older power banks I've used." With another five-star reviewer adding: "No doubt the best power bank on the market, takes forever to charge indicating just how much power and capacity this beast has, no problem taking this camping or out for long trips I end up powering four people's phones by charging with different cables, 100% recommended this power bank to anyone." However, a few shoppers did comment on the size and weight of the charger. One person said: "On the downside, it does take quite a bit of time to fully charge and it is heavy to carry around, although this is to be expected from a battery of this capacity." With another customer adding: "Only reason for 4 stars not 5 is the weight, it's not light and I'm sure there are other (more expensive I'm sure) external batteries out there, but for the price it's well worth it." Despite this, a top reviewer commented: "Brilliant power bank, as this lasted for all four days camping - it charged two mobiles each day, one Apple "atch each day and also a Kindle once. Yes it's bulky, but it's outstanding value for money." With a sixth shopper saying: "This is excellent value for money as well as giving peace of mind. It couldn't be easier to use and will be invaluable during power cuts or long journeys. It is lightweight, given its power, and small enough to be easy to transport. Great little item!" First woman appointed Astronomer Royal
A woman has been appointed Astronomer Royal for England for the first time in history. Prof Michele Dougherty will take on the prestigious role after the retirement of Lord Martin Rees, who held the position for 30 years. The title Astronomer Royal has been awarded to a leading expert in the field for 350 years, and has had 15 separate holders in this time. The honorary role involves a duty to inform the monarch of astronomical matters. The position was first created in the 17th century by Charles II as a way to discover a way to determine longitude at sea when out of sight of land, 'for perfecting the art of navigation'. John Flamsteed, a Derbyshire astronomer, was the inaugural Astronomer Royal and also made the first recorded observations of Uranus. He laid the foundation stone of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, where the Astronomer Royal is based to this day. 'I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the important role of Astronomer Royal,' said Prof Dougherty. 'As a young child I never thought I'd end up working on planetary spacecraft missions and science, so I can't quite believe I'm actually taking on this position. 'In this role I look forward to engaging the general public in how exciting astronomy is, and how important it and its outcomes are to our everyday life.' Prof Dougherty is professor of space physics at Imperial College London, and her research focuses on the magnetic field interactions of planets, especially those of the gas giants, Saturn and Jupiter. She was the principal investigator of the magnetometer on Nasa's Cassini spacecraft mission, which analysed data of Saturn's magnetic field. Prof Dougherty's work led to the discovery of water vapour around the Saturnian moon Enceladus, thereby showing it could harbour life. Prof Dougherty also worked on the Galileo mission to Jupiter, and the current Juice mission to the Jovian moons Europa, Callisto and Ganymede, which is scheduled to arrive in 2032. When Juice launched in 2023, she said the project was trying to detect tiny magnetic fluctuations, which is 'like trying to find lots of needles in a haystack, and those needles are changing shape and colour all the time'. She has been instrumental in furthering humanity's knowledge of the solar system and is highly decorated with awards and recognition, including the Hughes Medal, a CBE, and being elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Women in Stem Prof Dougherty has also spoken about the importance of inclusion and diversity in science, particularly around the value of women in Stem fields. In 2022, she criticised headteacher Katharine Birbalsingh for saying that girls shun physics at A-level because of an aversion to 'hard maths'. Prof Dougherty said at the time: 'We have worked incredibly hard in the UK in recent years to ensure that anyone who is interested in studying physics feels supported and enabled to do so, and this is something we will continue to focus on. 'I am so very proud of all that my students and staff achieve as they carve out their careers – irrespective of their gender. It is astounding to me that senior leaders in the UK continue to make such unbelievably stereotypical comments, which are not backed up by data.' Prof Dame Angela McLean, the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, said: 'Warm congratulations to Prof Michele Dougherty on her appointment to the distinguished position of Astronomer Royal. This is a fitting recognition of her outstanding work and enduring commitment to the field of astronomy.'

Social Media Users Blast Lizzo For Slamming 'Thin Presenting' People Who Criticize 'Bigger Bodies'
Actor and singer Lizzo has once again sparked intense controversy among fans over weight and body image. In a new video shared online, the "Juice" performer shared her thoughts on "thin-presenting" people who allegedly shame those with "bigger bodies," essentially telling them to stay in their lane. In a passionate clip shared on TikTok, Lizzo opened up once again about body image and said she felt called to address this because she's someone who really "cares about people." She then took aim at "thin-presenting" people who she feels have a need to criticize those in "bigger bodies." "It's not your place to criticize how they choose to live in that body, how they choose to change that body, and it's not your place to criticize how they share that experience on the internet or with anyone," she said. Lizzo also singled out those who have lost weight and now speak negatively about others with bigger bodies, calling their behavior "inappropriate." She stated, "You of all people should understand that bodies change." On TikTok, many users agreed with Lizzo and praised the "About D-mn Time" singer for "educating people on body acceptance." Another user chimed in, offering a broader perspective. "It's no one's 'place' to speak on anyone — big or skinny," they wrote. "The entire conversation around body positivity tiptoes pessimism [and] projection." There were some users, however, who disagreed with Lizzo's message completely, and they were determined to make their voices heard. Still, on TikTok, one user shared their experience as someone in a smaller body, explaining that they also receive hurtful messaging from people in "bigger bodies." "Telling me I need to eat more still hurts," they shared. "People in smaller bodies get body shamed just as much as people in 'bigger bodies.'" On Instagram, users shared similar responses, with several blasting Lizzo for making her "whole identity" about "her body." Someone else wrote, "Thin presenting? Like her whole career finna be bout weight?" Another fan challenged Lizzo, telling her that if she posts her life on the internet, she's giving users access to comment. "You're making it everybody's business and people will judge it," they wrote. "That's the nature of social media." Lizzo's own significant weight loss over the last several years provides context for the current debate, as she has showcased her journey every step of the way. In the past, she's been accused of using the weight-loss drug Ozempic; however, she denied the claims, saying she works her "a-s off." Her trainer, Shaun T, known for popular fitness videos like "Insanity," also slammed trolls who accused her of using Ozempic, calling the claims "wildly annoying." "I think that generally people think because now something is available and popular, they're not going to give people props. People would rather hate before they give people props," he said. Shaun-T then celebrated Lizzo's fitness journey and her ability in the gym. "I have trained Lizzo. Like, I have worked out with her, I have danced with her. Lizzo is very fit," he said. "People think, like, just because someone's like a quote-unquote plus size person ... they're not fit." As Shaun-T continued, he shared a message similar to the one Lizzo shared in her TikTok above. "The second thing I want to say, which is absolutely important, is for people to mind your business," he stated. "Because the people who are actually talking about, 'Oh my gosh, that person's using Ozempic,' you're probably not even working out. And the people who are working out, most of them are like, 'Cool, if they are using Ozempic, I hope that they're eating healthy,' or something like that." Lizzo, on the other hand, didn't seem bothered by the claims during a previous interview, admitting that she was being very "intentional" about her weight loss and wasn't focused on looking a specific way. "Even at the end of my weight-loss journey, I'm not going to be considered thin by any means," Lizzo explained. "I will still be considered morbidly obese on the BMI. But I will be happy."

I tried all the supermarket cloudy lemonades – refreshing 90p winner is perfect drink for a summery day
Read on to find out which ones are best to use as mixers at your next barbecue? PITCHER PERFECT I tried all the supermarket cloudy lemonades – refreshing 90p winner is perfect drink for a summery day Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHEN it comes to refreshing summer sips, nothing quite hits the spot like traditional cloudy lemonade. But shoppers at Tesco have had to find a substitute after the store removed it from its soft drinks range. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 8 Laura Stott has tested all the supermarket cloudy lemonades and rated them out of five Credit: Damien McFadden Lovers of the fizz have been pleading online for it to be reinstated. Meanwhile, which other own-brand bottles of pop can they turn to? Laura Stott samples a selection and gives her verdict. Diet Lemonade with Lemon Juice, 330ml, 55p, Tesco 8 Tesco's Diet Lemonade with Lemon Juice is an unsatisfying substitute Credit: Damien McFadden WITH Tesco's traditional-style cloudy lemonade being withdrawn, what I found left on the shelves instead was this lemonade made with 2 per cent lemon juice. So it's easy to see why shoppers who usually buy the 'old-fashioned' style drink are not happy. While there is nothing wrong with this version, the flavour is just not the same. It is described as sherbet- tasting, but it's more like a plain lemonade and the disappointing fruit flavour is very wishy-washy. How to make the perfect alcoholic pink lemonade with just TWO ingredients - and it's ideal to cool you down There also is no yellowy colour, which that is part of the enjoyment of the traditional drink. It's artificial tasting and lacking in zing. Hardly comparable to a delicious chilled glass of the original cloudy fizz. An unsatisfying substitute. Rating: 2/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 750ml £3.50, M&S THIS yummy real lemonade in its fancy glass bottle is rammed with the taste of juicy Italian fruits – and is the posh bottle to buy if you want to treat yourself or you are having people over. Made with 4 per cent Sicilian lemon juice and an additional 4 per cent puree on top, this double whammy really elevates the juiciness. 8 The M&S version would be a good mixer for summer cocktails Credit: Damien McFadden Combined with carbonated water, it's incredibly moreish and hits the perfect spot between sweet and sharp. There is no escaping the fact this is a costlier option, and 750ml won't go that far. I'd suggest this is one best kept for the grown-ups to enjoy as a nice alcohol-free offering, or to have at a summer barbecue or garden party. It is expensive but if you are buying as a booze-free alternative, it isn't bad value. Would be a good mixer for summer cocktails. Rating: 3/5 Vive Lemon Zero Sugar, 85p, 2 litres, Aldi ALDI'S lemon sparkling drink is a good price, but the two-litre bottle was no better value than most of the other own-brand options. It also contains a slightly lower amount of lemon juice from concentrate than many of the other supermarket offerings. 8 Aldi's version is closer to one of the big-brand fizzy lemon drinks, rather than a 'cloudy' lemonade Credit: Damien McFadden They predominantly contain 4 per cent fruit juice, whereas this one is lower at just 3 per cent . That said, the flavour is a little different, perhaps closer to one of the big-brand fizzy lemon drinks, rather than a traditional summertime 'cloudy' lemonade recipe. I found it sweeter, too, which was not to my taste. But that can be a matter of personal preference. It reminded me of a lemon drink you might buy on holiday to slurp as a change from a cola by the swimming pool. Rating: 2/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 6 x 330ml cans, Sainsbury's, £2.05 BUYING fizzy drinks as individual cans is a great way to make sure pop does not end up being wasted and poured down the sink when it goes flat. And while this multi-pack is a little pricier at the till, the price per can is not too painful. 8 The bright and bold citrus flavour certainly refreshes your palate and perks you up Credit: Damien McFadden A super way to quench your thirst on a hot day. There's plenty of the lemon flavour that you want in these sunny sippers, which can be enjoyed nice and chilled. The bright and bold citrus flavour certainly refreshes your palate and perks you up. The downside of drinking it this way is you don't get to enjoy the 'cloudy' colour, unless you pour it into a glass. On the plus side, it's perfect for picnics or for drinking on the go. A very good glug. 4/5 Diet Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 90p, Co-op A VERY stylish big bottle of pop from the Co-op, with a fun label that adults won't be embarrassed to have in the fridge. It has a gorgeous vibrant yellow colour too! A bit more citrus flavour than some of the other supermarket options, thanks to a combination of lemon juices that provide this one with a lovely balance point between tart and sweet. 8 Co-Op's version is packed with traditional and comforting fruity flavour Credit: Damien McFadden A little less gassy than some other options. It seems a bit softer and gentler to sip, which I rather enjoyed. But if you prefer the bubbles-up-your-nose sensation of a fizzy drink, you might want one with a bit more 'pop'. It also means it is likely to go flat faster. Very refreshing and tasty though, and packed with traditional and comforting fruity flavour. Delicious, and a perfect drink on a summery day. Rating: 5/5 Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 80p, Morrisons THIS no-added-sugar fizz from Morrisons has a delicious cloudy hue that had the strongest citrus colour of all the bottles of pop I slurped. Made with 4 per cent concentrated lemon, it gives you all the soft tang of the fruit but it has been made more palatable with the addition of some sweetness. 8 Morrisons' version had the strongest citrus colour of all the drinks tested Credit: Damien McFadden Very bubbly and fizzy, so a chilled glass of this on a warm day really hits the spot for refreshing you and quenching your thirst. I did find it had a slightly artificial aftertaste, but that's not uncommon with any carbonated drinks that have sucralose added to them. A lovely warm-weather sip that will be a great fridge standby at this time of year. Very good value, too. Rating: 4/5 Diet Cloudy Lemonade, 2 litres, 82p, Asda LOADS of lemon bubbles for your bucks in Asda's own citrus fizz, which is tangy and tasty. While not as sharp or tingly on the tongue as some others, it is still packed with the flavours of the fruit. 8 This would make a super mixer with spirits such as vodka or gin Credit: Damien McFadden A very pale yellow-green cloudy colour which, when chilled, looks delicious. You'll be pleased to pour out a glass of this to quench your thirst on a hot day, and it's even better over ice. It is made with 4 per cent concentrated juice and is another supermarket slurper to come as a diet option. If you fancy a change from a plain lemonade, the fruit flavour really does elevate this to a more enjoyable drink. It would make a super mixer with spirits such as vodka or gin.
