Guy Sebastian's ex-manager Titus Day breaks silence on pair's fallout ahead of trial

Guy Sebastian's former manager and close friend Titus Day have spoken to on the eve of his return to court on Monday for his embezzlement trial. Day has long maintained his innocence relating to the charges which arose after the two men, friends for a dozen years, had a bitter falling out in 2017 over claims and counterclaims they each owed the other hundreds of thousands of dollars. Day, 52, has avoided the media since he was charged in 2020. This week the reserved Sydney agent let his guard down to speak to about his shattered friendship with the singer and his wife Jules Sebastian, whose media career Day also launched and guided for five years. Much changed by his experience, Day acknowledged the eight-year legal battle had taken its toll on him and his family. Wife Courtney will be missing from the district court on Monday when the trial begins. 'Courtney won't be there because we've both decided it's in our kids' best interest to be protected from it as much as possible. They don't need any further exposure to it. She will be with them,' Day said. From the outset, Day's three children have seen too much of their father's distress concerning the business dispute. Day had just sat down to dinner with them in the family's Bondi home on a Wednesday night in July 2020 when police knocked on his door and arrested him. The intensely private Day, who has never courted media attention, said that the shock of the arrest had been 'very tough' on his young family. 'It's been very tough for me but even more so for my wife and children,' he said. While unable to discuss the allegations that will be put by the court next week, Day recalled the time when he and Sebastian were remarkably close, so close in fact at one time stories surfaced in the press claiming Day's other clients were envious of their manager's relationship with the Sebastians. Day began representing the 'Battle Scars' singer in 2006, two years after the he'd won the inaugural season of Australian Idol on Network Ten. 'Idol had been massive for Guy but by the time I approached him his career was starting to dwindle,' Day recalled last week. 'I thought he was very talented but being poorly managed and so made the approach and ended up signing him. 'My first album with him went to number one and we had a number of hit records and tours together after that.' With Sebastian's career going from strength to strength, a few years later Day's Six Degrees Management launched the career and podcast of Jules, the singer's then little-known wife. 'I took her from just being known as Guy's wife to being a successful media personality in her own right. We launched and built her Tea With Jules brand. We did all her TV deals, her endorsements and built her profile,' Day said. The joint management arrangement would see the two couples, the Sebastians and the Days, spend more time together. Day explained that a good management relationship is 'like a marriage'. 'Quite often management is like a marriage itself and you become very close friends with your clients,' he said. 'When Guy and I would be on the road touring, Jules and their kids (Hudson and Archer) would sometimes go and stay at my house with my wife. The lines definitely blur occasionally but that's not always a bad thing. My work is most of my life and so it's natural that my clients become friends.' Day has represented a roster of high profile stars including game show host Grant Denyer, presenter Sophie Monk, Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice, singer Tina Arena, and UFC world champion Robert Whittaker. As a result of his arrest however he is today unable to work as a company director. Before he can do so, he will need to clear his name before the court. Asked if he looked forward to having his day in court on Monday, a contemplative Day said 'yes and no'. 'I am looking forward to righting a wrong but I also just want it over. Being persecuted and going through two jury trials is extremely hard,' he said. 'I wouldn't wish what I've been through on anyone. It's been going on for nearly eight years now and I just want it to end so we can move on with our lives.'

Like father like son! Guy Sebastian's boy reveals amazing singing talent just like his pop star dad

Famed Australian performer Guy Sebastian has taken to social media to show off his young son's growing talent as a performer. The 43-year-old Australian Idol legend proudly shared a clip which sees his son Archie, 11, belting out a catchy pop tune in a live studio recording. According to Guy's introduction Archie wrote the lyrics to the song, which is a rousing sporting anthem about a basket ball player out to prove he is champ on the court. Seen seated cross legged in a chair in a studio, Archie rocks out the song with stunning confidence. 'A winner never said no, no, no,' Archie sings in the tune, which is called 'Maybe'. Another part of the lyrics go, 'i know they say good things come to those that wait, why would I want good if I got great.' Guy is also seen in the clip supporting his son on drums, guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. As the song finishes Guy can be seen letting out a proud dad laugh as he gives Archie a fist pump. Sharing the clip to his Instagram, Guy's followers filled the message board with well-wishers. 'Oh my goodness,' gushed one fan. 'Wow, he's brilliant, like father, like son,' said another follower. 'Just wow!! Both mum and dad are brilliant vocalists… what a blessing to get to enjoy this incredible voice…and the writing,' said a third fan. It comes after Guy shared a sweet tribute to his wife Jules, as the couple celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary. The pop star took to Instagram on Saturday to share an adorable throwback photo of the couple on the red carpet at the 2004 ARIA awards. Captioning the post, guy also made a comedic reference to his recent sporting injury that saw him rushed to hospital requiring surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon. 'Happy 17th anniversary @julessebastian,' he wrote. 'I bet you thought you wouldn't have to help me get in the shower for a few more years.' The incident occurred after Guy teamed up with AFL great and radio host Brendan Fevola last weekend to help struggling club Masala Dandenong break a long losing streak Guy and Jules (née Egan) became engaged in late 2007 after eight years of courtship. They tied the knot in May 2008 and have since welcomed two sons, Hudson 12, and Archie 11. In 2020, Guy revealed to Who Australia Jules was hesitant to have children when they first started dating. Alongside their youngest, Archie, they share, older son, Hudson who is 12.

Guy Sebastian shares sweet throwback photo with wife Jules as the couple celebrate 17 years of marriage... after the pop star suffered a horrific sporting injury

Guy Sebastian has shared a sweet tribute to his wife Jules, as the couple celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary. The pop star took to Instagram on Saturday to share an adorable throwback photo of the couple on the red carpet at the 2004 ARIA awards. The photo was taken four years before the couple tied the knot, bit it is clear that they were very much in love. The photo showed Guy, sporting his then trademark black curly hair, standing on the red carpet with his future bride. As Jules smiled broadly for the waiting photographers, Guy could only stare lovingly at his partner. It turned out to be quite the auspicious night for Guy, too, picking up his first ARIA award for selling single with his post-Australian Idol track Angels Brought Me Here. Captioning the post, guy also made a comedic reference to his recent sporting injury that saw him rushed to hospital requiring surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon. 'Happy 17th anniversary @julessebastian,' he wrote. 'I bet you thought you wouldn't have to help me get in the shower for a few more years.' He kept the joke going with an inset on the image that showed Stan Laurel from iconic comedy group Laurel and Hardy. The picture, taken from the 1934 film Country Hospital, showed Stan lying in a hospital bed with his leg, enveloped in a plaster cast, elevated as he reads a book. The incident occurred after Guy teamed up with AFL great and radio host Brendan Fevola last weekend to help struggling club Masala Dandenong break a long losing streak However, Guy's afternoon was cut short by injury with the pop star seen limping from the park in the fourth quarter. Guy took to social media after the match, writing: 'Thought I'd strap on the boots after a LONG hiatus and performed for the locals. 'Great day out for Masala Dandenong getting their first win with @brendanfevola25 kicking a bag! 'Unfortunately I've done a proper number on myself. #realitycheck #sticktosinging #footyglorydaysareover.' Brendan revealed the extent of Guy's injuries the following day on Channel 7's Sunday Footy Feast. 'Fourth quarter, I saw him fall down and I couldn't stop laughing because he just fell. I was like "mate, singers shouldn't play footy, footy players shouldn't sing, keep to your genre"', he said. 'And he looked around and he goes "I think something popped". I said that's not good, because I've done both Achilles. 'He's ruptured his Achilles. He's getting surgery on Monday and is in hospital. So he missed his mate's 40th but hey we got good headlines, which is great (laughs).' Guy and Jules (née Egan) became engaged in late 2007 after eight years of courtship. They tied the knot in May 2008 and have since welcomed two sons, Hudson 12, and Archie 11. In 2020, Guy revealed to Who Australia Jules was hesitant to have children when they first started dating. 'Jules was a tomboy growing up. You know how some women growing up are kind of like, "I just can't wait to be a mum?"' he said. 'Whereas Jules was petrified of it. I never heard the words "I want to be mum" ever come out of her mouth because I think she was scared that she wouldn't do a good job,' he said. Despite her reservations, Guy claims Jules has naturally taken to motherhood with the couple's two sons. 'The thing that I've seen her do unbelievably well is be a mum,' the pop star said, praising his wife. 'I think you have a newfound love for your partner when you see them in a role like that – nurturing and looking after the people that matter the most to you. She's killing it!' he added.

Guy Sebastian reveals wild night he was pelted with stinky shoes in New York City: 'I kid you not!'

Guy Sebastian might be used to having adoration thrown at him on stage in Australia, but across the pond it's a different story. The multiple ARIA award-winning star, 43, recounted a very unusual gig in New York at the beginning of his post-Australian Idol career on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday. He revealed that he had taken his wife Jules to a club in the Big Apple, where the couple were living at the time. He said that the club was hosting a 'jam night' and the Battle Scars hitmaker hit the stage to flaunt his talents. Guy also admitted that it was the first time the mum-of-two had heard the star in action, and the reaction he received from the audience was quite surprising. 'When I sing in America, it's such a different reaction,' he said. 'Jules, the first time she saw me sing, we were living in New York, and I went down to this place called The Village Underground. 'And it's where one night you'll have, like, half of Beyoncé's band. D'Angelo's band, Maxwell. All their bands just gather here and jam and it's like an open mic night.' Guy then admitted he was pelted with shoes by the audience, but not for the reasons many would think. 'I remember getting up and I sung like an Al Green song or something, and I started doing runs and they're looking at me wondering, "Who is this boy? Is he black? Is he Mexican? I don't know what he is, but that boy can sing,"' he said. 'I kid you not, ask Jules. It's a big compliment for them to throw their shoe at you and stuff. So, I'm getting shoes thrown at me.' Host Kyle Sandilands then pressed Guy on whether he had been lied to about the intentions of the airborne footwear. 'No, it's a compliment,' Guy confirmed. 'And then they start throwing $20 bills at the stage. So, I would do a big run, and they get it because they all grow up in church and so they know the difficulty of it. 'It's a big compliment for them to throw their shoe at you and stuff...' he said 'Whereas when I do it here people are like, that's lovely.' It was a compliment that Guy paid to one Voice contestant back in 2022. After 22-year old Samoan singer Celestial Utai wowed the panel with her rendition of Beyoncé's Deja Vu, both guy and fellow coach Jessica Mauboy threw their shoes onto the stage as a mark of respect of the show-stopping performance. Guy's admission comes after he recently announced a major shake-up of his management team. The Angels Brought Me Here singer revealed, last month, that he had parted ways with his long-time manager Jennifer Fontaine, in favour of his own in-house management team. Jennifer had guided Guy's career since his acrimonious split with former manager Titus Day back in 2017. Speaking to News Corp, the former Australian Idol star said the pair remain friends and that an internal management team was always on the agenda for Sebastian. 'The thing with Jen is she knew I always wanted to have my own internal team and I wanted to be at the table on everything. It wasn't such a huge shock,' Sebastian said. 'She was there at a pretty vulnerable time for me and however this rolls out, I wanted us to remain great friends afterwards.' It was also revealed that Lauren Stamper, who was previously Sebastian's day-to-day manager, would lead the revamped management team. Lauren has also previously worked alongside Fontaine at her agency Private Idaho. The singer's long-time tour manager George Said has also been retained in the fold at his Guytunes company, charged with booking live shows and tours. The publication also reported that while Sebastian will release his tenth studio album on Sony, there are plans in the works to establish a new label to mentor burgeoning artists.
