Sint Truiden Belgian Pro League 2025/2026 Preview
Overview: With a well respected head coach in charge like Wouter Vrancken, Sint Truiden fans will be hoping that this season will be more enjoyable than the previous one. The Canaries entertained but were defensively poor. With a few days to go till the season starts, they still have star striker Adriano Bertaccini. If he does leave, as he is expected to, Sint Truiden must find a way to replace him. Transfers in: Ilias Sebaoui (Feyenoord), Illyes Benachour (Club Brugge), Kaito Matsuzawa (V-Varen Nagasaki), Louis Patris (Anderlecht), Taiga Hata (Shonan Bellmare), Abdoulaye Sissako (Kortrijk), Andres Ferrari (Villarreal), Ryan Merlen (RFC Liege) Transfers out: Joel Chima Fujita (St Pauli), Ryoya Ogawa (Kashima Antlers), Tristan Teuchy (Dessel), Didier Lamkel Ze (free), Bruno Godeau (free) Key player: Ilias Sebaoui Presuming Bertaccini will be off, Sint Truiden will need other players to step up. Sebaoui burst onto the scene at Beerschot but has struggled since moving to the Netherlands. The attacker now returns to Belgium and with Sint Truiden he could really rebuild his career. If he showcases his talent in the right way, Sint Truiden could have picked up the signing of the season. Young player to watch: Adam Nhali Sint Truiden don't have many players under the age of 21, but 19-year-old Adam Nhali was a bit part player last season. The winger may see more opportunities this season if Vrancken starts searching for a way to get the side scoring and being less reliant on Bertaccini. This will be his third season with the first team and could be the one where he begins to really have an impact. Transfer window needs: The defence looks light, especially given that the club have opted for three at the back in the past few seasons. They could do with more quality in central defence. The central midfield looks to be strong with the inclusion of Merlen and Sissako. Clearly, the big question mark is around the strikers. If they keep Bertaccini after the window closes then they have enough, but if he goes they will need to find another player for that position. Ferrari showed glimpses of what he could do, but Sint Truiden can't rely on him to match Bertaccini's 21 goals. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson

Flavio Nazinho fits Celtic transfer bill as Brendan Rodgers 'targets' Kieran Tierney back up solution
The former Sporting CP kid is currently with Cercle Brugge in Belgium after making the move from Portugal last year Cercle Brugge left back Flavio Nazinho is reportedly a transfer target for Celtic. The 21-year-old Portuguese would solve a problem for Brendan Rodgers, who is looking for a Kieran Tierney understudy following Greg Taylor' s departure to greek outfit PAOK. With Tierney certain to be Rodgers' first choice at left back, a younger back up with potential to develop and slot in when Tierney is needed at left centre back is what's required and Nazinho seems to fit the bill. Nazinho came through the ranks at Sporting CP, who the Hoops play next week in a pre-season friendly in Lisbon before flying home to face Newcastle United. They would be due 15 per cent of any fee received by Cercle Brugge if a deal is done. The Belgians paid €1million for Nazinho last summer, with another €1million potentially due in add-ons. Nazinho played 39 times in all competitions last term as Cercle finished runners up in the Jupiler Pro League. Man Utd target left disappointed as move blocked - 'You don't just walk out'
Manchester United's interest in Club Brugge star Ardon Jashari appears to have been stonewalled with the Belgian side determined to keep the midfielder at their disposal Manchester United have been told that transfer target Ardon Jashari is not available for a move this summer, regardless of the money involved. Club Brugge are said to have left their midfielder 'disappointed' that a move will not be considered despite interest from multiple clubs. The Red Devils were set to have competition for the 22-year-old's signature from Serie A giants AC Milan. The Italian side were claimed to have tabled a €30million (£25.6m) bid for the player who was named the Jupiler Pro League's 2024/25 player of the season. Brugge's CEO Bob Madou and sporting director Devy Rigaux have confirmed that they met with Milan to discuss the player but rejected the notion that talks over the money required for a deal took place. Instead, the duo confirmed they were planning for Jashari to remain at the club. Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws they said that the player had been informed that that decision. Madou said: "Is the matter deadlocked? We met with AC Milan. Out of politeness. And without mentioning money. "Three hours without talking about money was a long time in this case. No, seriously – that matter is the elephant in the room. The elephant in the room. Everyone knows what Ardon has achieved, but we don't see this as the end of a cycle as far as he's concerned. "I'm not saying we won't make exceptions, but there's no amount on the table today that I think would warrant it. You don't just walk out of Club Brugge. We assume he'll stay." Rigaux added: "This is part of the summer transfer window. And it's not the first time I've experienced it. [Jose] Izquierdo, for example, wanted to leave at one point. "You have to make sure players understand why you're denying them something. Is that obvious? No. Can't something like that be reversed? Not that either. We've made it very clear to Ardon what we expect from him." Brugge are anticipating a future move to a big club and understand Jashari's disappointment. The Belgian side's chiefs clarified there had never been any promise of transfer for the midfielder. "I understand he's disappointed, but it has to be right," said CEO Madou. "I'm convinced he'll make a move to an absolute top club, but today it doesn't feel right." Sporting director Rigaux added: "That he was promised a transfer in exchange for a record fee? We never promise anyone a transfer. "If there's a point where a player has reached the end of a cycle, and a top club makes a sufficient offer that confirms or exceeds the player's value at that time, then it will happen." Thomas Frank to cast eye over £12m Spurs gem as early loan offers land on table
Luka Vuskovic is set to arrive at Tottenham this summer after they struck a deal to sign the Croatian wonderkid from Hajduk Split in September 2023 Thomas Frank is set to cast an eye over 18-year-old Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic in pre-season despite widespread loan interest in the Croatian. Spurs agreed a reported £12million package deal with Hajduk Split for the teenager, then 16, in September 2023 and they're understood to have pipped Manchester City and PSG to his signature. The towering defender starred on loan in Belgium last season with KVC Westerlo, scoring an impressive seven goals from the back, having also previously flourished in Poland during a six-month spell with Radomiak Radom in 2024. Now a series of top-flight clubs from Germany, France and Belgium including Hamburg and Club Brugge have contacted his representatives to register an early interest in signing Vuskovic on loan for the 2025-26 season, should he become available. However, Tottenham are in no immediate rush to make a decision over his future and they're yet to rule out Vuskovic potentially staying put as part of their first-team squad for the forthcoming campaign. Earlier this week, he was handed his senior international debut by Croatia when he was a late substitute in a 5-1 World Cup qualification win over Czechia. Spurs believe they have a major talent on their hands but they intend to manage his development carefully in a bid to ensure he fulfils his potential in north London. Speaking earlier this month, Vuskovic was full of praise for the Europa League winners and shared his excitement about joining the club, stating: 'First of all, I'm looking forward to feeling that level and seeing where I am in relation to the players who just won the Europa League so that I know what I need to work on the most. 'After that, I'll see in agreement with the club which is the smartest next step. The club has proven to be careful and wise in making decisions so far. Belgium has proven to be an ideal league at this stage of my career, and I think it is otherwise a great development league because it gives a lot of opportunities to young players." Belgian side Westerlo have also made no secret of the fact they're keen to forge a partnership with Tottenham to sign more players on loan from Spurs in the future, though their chances of landing Vuskovic for another year look very slim. Alfie Devine also gained valuable senior experience with the Jupiler Pro League outfit, netting six goals in 30 top-flight appearances. In the past six weeks, even before the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Spurs held a series of meetings with the representatives or their loanees to review their progress. New boss Frank has a proven track record for utilising and developing talent both at Brentford and Brondby, having also previously coached Denmark at various youth levels.
