'Superman' box office collection Day 5: James Gunn's superhero film crosses Rs 30 crore mark in India

James Gunn's Superman is maintaining a steady run at the Indian box office. The film starring David Corenswet in the lead, has finally crossed the Rs 30 crore mark, after five days in theatres. The film that saw a huge dip in numbers on its first Monday at the box office managed to regain a steady footing on Tuesday. According to early estimates on Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 2.75 crore, from all languages, thus marking a slight growth from its Monday collection of Rs 2.3 crore. With this, the film's total India net collection now stands at an estimated Rs 31.05 crore net. The DC reboot had an impressive opening weekend, collecting Rs 28.3 crore in its first four days. It made its box office debut, earning Rs 7 crore on Friday and earned its highest income on Saturday, scoring a total collection of Rs 9.5 crore. The numbers began to dip on Sunday, with the movie earning an estimated Rs 9.25 crore. Despite the good numbers, the film fell far short of the predicted Rs 40 crore weekend. According to reports, the movie was expected to dethrone Scarlett Johansson 's Jurassic World Rebirth and Tom Cruise 's Mission: Impossible to earn the title of the highest-earning Hollywood release at the Indian box office. While Superman is putting up a respectable performance, it continues to face tough competition from Jurassic World Rebirth, which is stomping its way to the Rs 80 crore mark. Despite mixed global reception and overseas competition, the superhero film that is the first part of the new DC saga is reportedly cashing in on revenue generated in Metro Cities. Reports state that the English version has contributed a significant chunk of the overall revenue, estimated to be around Rs 19.97 crore. Directed by James Gunn, the film features an ensemble cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult , Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Anthony Carrigan.

Select IMAX 70mm tickets for Christopher Nolan's 2026 Odyssey go on sale this week

In a pretty unprecedented move for modern theatrical releases, select tickets for Christopher Nolan's 2026 epic The Odyssey will go on sale this week. Nolan's anticipated adaptation of Homer's Odyssey isn't coming out until July 17, 2026, but tickets for select IMAX 70mm screenings will go on sale on Thursday, per Variety. "Tickets for other formats and screenings are likely to go on sale much, much closer to the film's release date," the Variety report reads. Just like with 2023's Oppenheimer, demand is expected to be high to see Nolan's new film in the premium format. It's actually set to be the first film shot entirely with IMAX cameras, adding to the hype for Nolan's latest. Funny enough, the movie isn't even finished with its actual production. Theaters selling out a year in advance for a new movie sounds unheard of, but Nolan is the defining event filmmaker of the 21st century. There is no doubt some folks will snag these tickets super early. If you're near a theater with a 70mm IMAX projector, you can make really, really early plans to check out Nolan's latest. Check with your local theaters closer to Thursday. Also, a teaser trailer for The Odyssey is showing in theaters right now, attached to screenings of Jurassic World Rebirth and IMAX screenings of Superman.

"Superman" soars at box office, breathing new life into DC films

The latest " Superman" reboot is a box office smash, bringing in an impressive $122 million in its domestic debut over the weekend, according to estimates from Comscore. Zoom in: The movie, which cost $225 million to produce, brought in an estimated total of $95 million internationally, bringing its worldwide total haul to $217 million in its opening weekend. The opening marks the biggest weekend debut ever for a solo Superman movie — one not part of a larger crossover or franchise team-up. "Superman" boasts the third-biggest domestic movie opening of the year, behind "A Minecraft Movie" and "Jurassic World Rebirth." Zoom out: The movie, written and directed by former Marvel director James Gunn, is seen as a litmus test for Gunn and Peter Safran, who co-heads Warner Bros. Discovery's DC Studios. Gunn, the Hollywood hitmaker known for producing Marvel's hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" films, was hired by Warner Bros. to help turn around the struggling DC Comics franchise alongside Safran. Gunn has drawn outrage from right-leaning media, which accused him of politicizing Superman's origins in calling the film an immigrant story. The world's most famous superhero has long drawn parallels to immigrant and refugee stories, and was created by two men born to Jewish immigrants. Catch up quick:"Superman" is the anchor and first film in DC Studios' bid to revitalize its banner after struggling to compete with rival Marvel at the box office. Announcing the slate two years ago, Gunn called the film the "true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe." After Warner Bros. Discovery was formed from the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, the new owners overhauled DC Entertainment to eventually form DC Studios. Gunn and Safran's slate established a more cohesive approach to DC intellectual property and franchises, similar to Marvel's approach, under the DC Universe. The rebrand represents a reset from the previous DC Extended Universe era, which included titles like "Man of Steel" and "Justice League." What's next:"Superwoman" is the next film, expected in 2026, for the DC Universe under Gunn and Safran.

Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Day 11: Scarlett Johansson's Film To Cross Rs 80 Crore In India

Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Collections: Jurassic world starring Scarlett Johansson, nears Rs 80 crore in India, earning Rs 76.25 crore in 11 days. Globally Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Collections: Day 11 Jurassic World Rebirth continues to dominate at Indian cinemas, inching ever closer to the Rs 80 crore milestone. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Scarlett Johansson-led dinosaur saga earned an estimated Rs 1.75 crore on Day 11, bringing its total India net collection to approximately Rs 76.25 crore. The film had an impressive start, raking in Rs 56.25 crore during its opening week. Despite stiff competition from James Gunn's Superman and several noteworthy local releases, it held strong with a Rs 18.25 crore second weekend. With momentum still high, analysts project that Rebirth will surpass Rs 80 crore by the end of its second week, potentially positioning it as one of the top-grossing Hollywood releases in India for 2025. The film released in four languages in India — English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu — with the English version accounting for the highest share of earnings. In a landmark moment for Hollywood films in India, Jurassic World Rebirth became the first international title to host a grand premiere for its Hindi dubbed version at the iconic Raj Mandir cinema in Jaipur. On the international stage, Rebirth has crossed the $500 million mark following its second weekend, with total global earnings reaching around $529 million. North America has contributed $232 million, while overseas markets have added $297 million to the tally. Rebirth pulled in a strong second weekend total of $108 million worldwide, including a solid $40 million from the U.S. market. Heading the overseas pack is China, with an impressive $62.7 million in earnings. The current pace suggests a final global tally near $800 million, making it the lowest-grossing Jurassic World installment, yet still undeniably a major box office success. Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth marks the fourth installment in the beloved Jurassic World series. Despite competition from fresh titles, the film's spectacular visual effects, Higgins-level star power, and global appeal have turned it into a box office juggernaut both in India and abroad.
