80s rock icon celebrates 36th wedding anniversary after cheating confession

Jon Bon Jovi has celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary with his wife Dorothea Bongiovi after he made a blunt cheating confession last year. The Livin' On A Prayer hitmaker, 63, posted their celebrations on social media in the form of 36 roses for 36 'amazing years'. He also shared a throwback photo of the pair looking young and in love alongside a picture of their wedding venue, Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, where they tied the knot in 1989. Jon and Dorothea met in high school and married nine years later. While they briefly broke up in 1985, in which time the rocker dated actor Diane Lane, they quickly found each other again. While their relationship is long-lasting, the It's My Life hitmaker admitted in an interview last year that he 'got away with murder' in his younger years when he was 'no saint'. The musician made the frank comments while speaking on the ABC special, Michael Strahan x Jon Bon Jovi: Halfway There. Reflecting on Jon's stratospheric success, host Michael, 52, remarked: 'It had to be tough on a relationship. You're young…' 'That's nonsense,' Jon interjected. 'I got away with murder.' He continued: 'I'm a rock and roll star. I'm not a saint. I'm not saying that there weren't 100 girls in my life. I'm Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good. 'But if you think I'm ever going to jeopardise anything for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. 'What kind of excess does a man need that's going to fuel that fire? It's just not worth it.' In April 2020, Bon Jovi told People their secret to a long-lasting partnership was 'mutual respect'. 'Having grown up together and grown together. And we really like each other. We want to hang out,' he said. In 2010 he reflected on the moment they decided to marry in an interview with Men's Health. 'We had the No. 1 album, the No. 1 single, and we were playing three nights at the Forum in L.A.,' he told the publication. 'I turned to Dorothea and said, 'I got an idea. Why don't we go right now?' She said, 'You're out of your mind.' I said, 'Come on. What's better than this, right now, this moment?' And so we ran off to Las Vegas. Didn't tell a soul.' The pair went on to welcome four children together – Stephanie, 31, Jesse, 30, Romeo, 21, and Millie Bobby Brown's new husband Jake, 22. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Jon previously spoke to The Independent about the 'wonderful clichés of rock stardom'. Elaborating, he continued: 'It's about never lying about having been a saint, but not being a fool enough to [mess up] the home life, either.' In November, Jon was asked to elaborate on his previous comments in a podcast episode of Just for Variety with Variety journalist Marc Malkin. 'You're honest about being a rockstar, that you've got a lot of women in your life. Girls, as you call them,' said Marc, asking: 'Were your family surprised at how honest you were? Did your wife know you were going to be that honest?' After a pause, Jon answered: 'It was based on an old article many years ago, it would be a lie if you said you were a saint. It was the 80s for god's sake. I'm still that guy. Did a girl ever throw herself at me? F**k yes, I'm Jon Bon Jovi. 'But did I ever, ever, ever consider anything that would jeopardise my relationship with my wife who I've always been madly in love with? F**k no. But she would tell, me, 'Of course you were a moron.'' He continued: 'Yesterday was our 35th wedding anniversary. We're madly in love more every day, I'm ecstatic being in love with her. 'So we've been together 44 years. I wouldn't jeopardise a lick of that. I'm the luckiest guy in the universe.' More Trending Mark pressed: 'The stories that are getting picked up are making it sound like you cheated on her left and right?' 'Even if I did I was 20, I was 30, this wasn't yesterday,' Jon replied, adding: 'It was a decade or so in my youth.' When asked what he got Dorothea for their 35th anniversary, Jon revealed with a chuckle he'd got her flowers and a book it turned out 'she's already read'. The rocker added: 'We don't have to outdo things with presents and stuff because every day there's such deep gratitude. Watching TV together, sitting on the couch and making a cup of tea, she knows how grateful I am.' Got a story? After A Clip Of Amanda Seyfried Covering 'California' Went Viral, She Denied Claims She's Strategically Campaigning For The Upcoming Joni Mitchell Biopic

If you haven't been listening to Amanda Seyfried's cover of Joni Mitchell's 'California' on repeat all this week, then we are living very different lives. In case you missed it, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, Amanda showed off a fun skill that she learned during the pandemic — playing the dulcimer. While the instrument is not super well known, one of its most recognized players is the one and only Joni Mitchell. Amanda, despite her nerves, delivered a jaw-dropping cover of 'California,' to the audience's delight. And Jimmy's, if we're going by the look on his face. Anyway, the clip went mega-viral. It has almost 40 million views on TikTok, and the comments were gushing over Amanda's talent. However, amid all the praise, there was one comment with over 100k likes that read, 'tell me you're auditioning for a Joni Mitchell biopic without telling me you're auditioning…' Fans of the legendary folk singer will know that a biopic of Joni has been in the works for about two years, and is due to be released around Christmas this year. The film, directed by Cameron Crowe, is also rumored to star Meryl Streep in the title role. And if you're a Mamma Mia! fan, the prospect of Meryl and Amanda reuniting to play older and younger Joni seems too good to be true. Over the past week, many people online have been speculating that Amanda's cover on The Tonight Show was her throwing her hat in the ring in a bid to win the role of young Joni. But yesterday on the Just for Variety podcast, Amanda put the rumors to rest. 'It was not an audition,' Amanda clarified. 'In fact, I didn't even consider that, which is funny. What I know about that project is that I'm very, very much aged out of young Joni.' 'And yes, I've met Joni. It was years ago. And what a beautiful inspiration, you know? She's wonderful. She's Joni Mitchell. I learned the dulcimer… This was years ago. Way before Cameron Crowe was even born,' she joked. 'I learned a lot of the songs off her Blue album after meeting her. How could you not want to? I'm a musician, like as a hobby. Of course, I sing a little bit in Mamma Mia!, but I do love to play new instruments,' she explained. And as for Amanda's feelings about the clip going viral, it sounds like she's happy it did. 'It might not be meant to be, but I think it was an organic moment that really had its reach, and because it was organic it's fine with me. It feels really good,' the 39-year-old star said. 'It is all as it's meant to be.' Well, there you have it. I still need Amanda in more musicals, but I guess I can wait until Mamma Mia! 3. Amanda Seyfried addresses Joni Mitchell biopic speculations after ‘California' cover goes viral

Amanda Seyfried has shut down rumors that her viral cover of Joni Mitchell 's 'California' was an intended audition to play the folk singer in a future biopic. During an appearance last week on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Seyfried showed off both her vocal talents and dulcimer playing abilities with a pitch-perfect rendition of Mitchell's 1971 classic. A clip of her performance has since gone viral on TikTok, leading several fans to speculate that the Mamma Mia! star was throwing her name into the running to play the 81-year-old icon in Cameron Crowe 's forthcoming biopic. 'Tell me you're auditioning for a Joni Mitchell biopic without telling me you're auditioning…,' read one comment. Seyfried is now setting the record straight, insisting that 'it was not an audition.' 'In fact, I didn't even consider that, which is funny,' the Mean Girls actor, 39, admitted on a new episode of the Just for Variety podcast. 'What I know about that project is that I'm very, very much aged out of young Joni.' Almost Famous director Crowe first announced in 2023 that he was working with Mitchell on a film based on her life and career. It's not yet been revealed who will portray a young Mitchell. However, Meryl Streep is reportedly set to star as the 'Big Yellow Taxi' singer in her later years. 'I'm super-excited. We're going to start in by the end of this year and hopefully have it done for Christmas next year,' Crowe told Ultimate Classic Rock in December 2024. 'It's Joni's life, not through anybody else's prism. It's through her prism. It's the characters who impacted her life that you know and a lot that you don't know. And the music is so cinematic,' he teased. The untitled biopic is eying a 2025 Christmas release date. Seyfried is currently on a promotional tour for her new crime miniseries Long Bright River, an adaptation of Liz Moore's best-selling 2020 novel of the same name. The eight-episode show, now streaming on Peacock, follows Seyfried's Mickey Fitzpatrick, a Philadelphia police officer who patrols a neighborhood hit hard by the opioid crisis. When a string of murders takes place in her district, Mickey realizes she might have a personal connection to the case.

Tom Blyth on Playing a Closeted Gay Cop in ‘Plainclothes' and His ‘Intimate, Really Vivid' Sex Scenes With Russell Tovey

Tom Blyth may have starred in Francis Lawrence's box office hit 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,' but that doesn't mean the British actor is moving on from independent film. Case in point: 'Plainclothes.' In writer-director Carmen Emmi's feature debut, Blyth stars as Lucas, an undercover cop in 1990s Syracuse, N.Y., who falls in love with Andrew (Russell Tovey), one of his targets in a sting operation going after gay men for public indecency in a mall bathroom. Review: Urgent and Brilliant Documentary Finds Radical Ideas Following Israeli Stand-Up Comic's Peacekeeping Efforts 'There is just something really refreshing about the scrappiness of a smaller film like ['Plainclothes'],' Blyth tells me during a Zoom video interview for this week's 'Just for Variety' podcast from Senegal, where he is shooting Claire Denis' 'The Cry of the Guards.' 'I've done a bunch of them this year and last year. I've gone back to that kind of on purpose. It reminds you why you got into this in the first place. It reminds you of being a 15-year-old kid with my neighbor with a camcorder making those zombie films in my backyard.' 'Plainclothes' premieres at Sundance on Jan. 26. Not that Blyth would mind returning for the upcoming 'The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' sequel. 'Rachel [Zegler]and I are not going to be in this one because the next one takes place 45 years after ours did. It makes me sad because I miss everyone involved.' he says, adding, 'I did text Francis the other day, and he said, 'I miss you.' And I said, 'Well, prosthetics are really great these days. It wouldn't be that hard to make me look 65.'' This Q&A has been edited for length and clarity. You can listen to the full conversation on the 'Just for Variety' podcast. Blyth also joined the Variety Studio presented by Audible at Sundance to discuss 'Plainclothes,' the full vide of which can be watched above. How did the 'Plainclothes' script come to you? I was filming Season 2 of my TV show, 'Billy the Kid,' in Calgary, Canada. I'd been reading a lot of scripts at that time, and this one was the first and only one where I sat up in my seat and went, 'Holy shit, I have to do this.' Carmen flew himself up to Calgary in the middle of a snowstorm to walk through the script. We went out for dinner and drinks, and it was such a good creative match from the get-go that we were like, 'Let's do this together.' What did you know about these the sting operations? I knew about it happening up until the '50s, but I think I wrongly and naively assumed that it died out. One of the first things Carmen did was send me the article that inspired the story from the early 2000s. I remember being really shocked by how recent it was. Did you do a chemistry read with Russell? Carmen and I were doing work on the script and work on the character of Lucas and building it together and we were brainstorming about who could possibly play Andrew. I texted Carmen, 'Fuck, what about Russell Tovey?' Carmen texted back saying, 'He's on my dream list. We might try and offer it to him.' And sure enough, they did and he responded. We did a chemistry test on Zoom, but I think Carmen already knew he'd be great for the part. It was more of a formality than anything. How much did you make use of an for your sex scenes with Russell? We had an amazing intimacy coordinator, Joey Massa. I've worked with a lot of intimacy coordinators and they're always amazing. Sometimes I feel they're called in when the scene isn't even that intimate just because everyone these days is rightfully trying to correct the course and make sure that everyone's protected. Sometimes you'll have a kissing scene and you go, 'We probably know how to do this.' But this was genuinely intimate stuff. It was really intimate, really vivid, and Joey was incredible. It felt very organic. It felt like we rehearsed it in a way where I think Russell and I both were made to feel confident and comfortable enough that we could lead it. I think it works best when the actors feel emboldened to be able to take control of the choreography and make it feel organic.
