Chicken rice for RM3.60

A PLATE of Hainanese chicken rice in Kuala Kangsar is only RM3.60, reported China Press. With chicken rice now being sold between RM5 and RM9 elsewhere, Ji De Lai (which translates to 'remember to come visit' in Chinese) has become a crowd favourite in the royal town of Perak. According to shop owner Chen Xian Kai, 34, they have never raised their prices for the past 12 years since starting the business in 2012. Chen admitted that maintaining the price of chicken rice in spite of inflation meant he was earning less for every plate sold. However, he was able to sustain the business thanks to the support of loyal customers. 'Everyone has a different philosophy on making money. Some people are happy with earning a margin of 100%. Some are still dissatisfied despite raking in a margin of 200% to 300%. 'For me, as long as I am able to earn a profit after deducting all expenses, I will be satisfied.' Chen now runs the stall with his 31-year-old wife Huang Ri Yi. The couple wakes up at 3am every morning to get their ingredients from the wet market and start preparing the food at 5am. Their stall in Jalan Daeng Selili, Kampung Penaga is open between 8am and 1pm every day except Tuesdays. > King of Mandopop Jay Chou was recently spotted in the company of King of K-Pop G-Dragon, prompting speculation the two will be releasing music together, China Press reported. The two singers posted photos of themselves enjoying wine on the roof of a building in Taipei on July 14 following G-Dragon's recent concert at the Taipei Arena. 'Our language of communication is art and wine,' Chou wrote in English. According to a source in the music industry, both Chou and G-Dragon have met several times prior to this. As Chou and G-Dragon are known to sing, rap and even write their own songs, many fans are speculating of a possible collaboration soon. The above article is compiled from the vernacular newspapers (Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil dailies). As such, stories are grouped according to the respective language/medium. BTS Jin's Amsterdam concert heads to cinemas; ARMY go wild with LIVE viewing option- Details Inside

A Korean cinema chain has just made every K-Pop fan's dream come true with something absolutely incredible. They're bringing BTS Jin's solo concert '#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR in AMSTERDAM' straight to movie theatres across South Korea through live viewing. The concert, happening on August 9th (local time) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, marks the finale of Jin's first-ever solo fan concert tour. What makes this even more special is that the concert will feature not just Jin's solo tracks but also BTS group song medleys, which is like getting a bonus track on your favourite album. Cinema Experience That Beats Your Living Room Setup Now here's where it gets really exciting - this isn't just your regular movie screening. The theatres are pulling out all the stops with massive screens and booming sound systems that'll make you feel like you're actually in Amsterdam. Some locations are even using their premium theatres like 'SuperPlex' and 'Gwangeum Cinema' for an immersive experience that's probably better than most concert venues. The 'Gwangeum Cinema' features ultra-low frequency woofer sounds that create this incredible 3D audio experience - imagine feeling every beat drop and crowd cheer as if you're standing right there in the audience. It's like having the best seat in the house without the crazy ticket prices or the long queues for overpriced snacks. Fan Culture Meets Cinema Culture Here's what makes this absolutely brilliant - you can bring your ' ARMY Bomb ' (the official light stick) and cheer as loud as you want during the screening. This is so different from our usual cinema experience where we're shushed for even whispering! It's more like watching a cricket match at the stadium where everyone's cheering together. The live viewing is scheduled for August 10th (Sunday) at 3 PM across 20 locations nationwide, including major spots like Lotte Cinema World Tower and Konkuk University entrance. They're even giving out photo cards and postcards to visitors - it's like getting those special collectables that come with limited edition albums. When Global Meets Local What's fascinating is how this bridges the gap between global entertainment and local accessibility. While concert tickets for international artists can cost lakhs of rupees (especially when you factor in travel and accommodation), this cinema experience offers the same emotional connection at a fraction of the cost. Kim Se-hwan from the entertainment company mentioned that they prepared special theatre screenings to deliver the concert's excitement and energy more vividly, emphasising the unique joy that can only be experienced in theatres. This reminds us of how cinema halls have always been our go-to place for shared experiences - whether it's cheering for the hero in a masala film or collectively gasping at plot twists.

SHINee's Onew Redefines K-Pop with Groundbreaking Album 'PERCENT'

SHINee Onew The K-Pop world just witnessed something absolutely insane! SHINee's Onew didn't just drop another album - he literally threw down the gauntlet and challenged the entire industry's soul. "PERCENT" isn't just music; it's a full-blown revolution disguised as an album that's making everyone question what K-Pop even means anymore. The Great Escape_ Breaking Free from the Idol Machine While most K-Pop artists are trapped in this endless cycle of glossy perfection and manufactured personas, Onew said "screw it" and decided to get real - like, uncomfortably real. This isn't your typical dance-heavy, auto-tuned extravaganza. Instead, Onew served us raw vulnerability on a silver platter, and frankly, the industry doesn't know how to handle it. Think about it - here's a guy who's been in the spotlight for over a decade, and instead of playing it safe, he's out here talking about being incomplete, embracing imperfection, and literally howling like an animal. The audacity is absolutely unmatched! Cultural Revolution_ Redefining What It Means to Be a K-Pop Star This album is basically Onew's middle finger to the entertainment industry's impossible standards. In a world where idols are expected to be perfect 24/7, smile constantly, and never show any real emotion, "PERCENT" is like a nuclear bomb of authenticity. The timing couldn't be more perfect. With mental health conversations finally gaining traction among young people, Onew's message of "it's okay to be incomplete" hits different. This isn't just about music anymore - it's about giving an entire generation permission to be human. Onew didn't just participate in songwriting; he basically bled his soul onto every track. That's the kind of artistic integrity that makes other artists sweat nervously. The experimental nature of tracks like "PERCENT (%)" shows that Korean artists are finally ready to push boundaries and challenge Western music dominance. The album features 11 tracks that read like an emotional autobiography - from "Silky" celebrating the art of being lazy (honestly, a whole mood), to "Caffeine" delivering that addictive rush we all know too well. "Marshmallow" captures those butterflies-in-your-stomach moments when you're falling hard for someone, while "Confidence" showcases Onew's inner strength.

K-Pop Demon Hunters: BTS video deep-dives into how 3 K-Pop girls became demon-fighting superstars

The creators of " K-Pop Demon Hunters " just spilled all the tea about how they cooked up this global phenomenon that's got everyone from your college roommate to actual K-pop idols obsessing over it. The behind-the-scenes footage reveals some seriously cool secrets about how three fictional girls became the internet's newest obsession. The magic started when the creative team decided to take the age-old concept of good versus evil and give it a distinctly Korean twist. The film follows Hunterlix members Lumi, Mira, and Joy as they battle supernatural forces, and honestly, the concept is so brilliantly simple that you wonder why nobody thought of it before. When Real K-Pop Stars Start Cover Your Fictional Songs Here's where things get absolutely wild - the "Soda Pop" track became so addictive that actual K-pop groups started creating their own cover versions and posting them on social media. But the real moment that sent fans into a frenzy was when BTS member RM casually dropped the lyrics "you're my Soda pop , my little soda pop" in conversation. The track's infectious energy has that same quality as those Bollywood numbers that somehow end up being played at every wedding, birthday party, and random college fest across the country. Directors Reveal Their Deep Dive Into Korean Culture Journey Director Maggie Kang opened up about her vision to showcase Korean culture and mythology to global audiences, believing that the supernatural demon-hunting concept would translate beautifully on screen. Her co-director Chris Appelhans shared some fascinating insights about their character development process, emphasising how they deliberately made the protagonists feel like real, relatable teenagers rather than perfect, untouchable heroes. The production team's dedication to authenticity is honestly impressive - they actually packed their bags and flew to Korea to experience traditional hanoks, sample authentic Korean cuisine, and walk through bustling street markets. This hands-on research approach reminds us of how the best Indian filmmakers immerse themselves in local cultures before bringing stories to life, ensuring that every detail feels genuine rather than stereotypical. Voice actress Arden Cho, who brings Lumi to life, gushed about her character's multifaceted personality - someone who can fight demons, deliver powerful vocals, and rock amazing fashion sense, particularly loving Lumi's signature purple hair. The character dynamics feel refreshingly authentic, from Mira's cynical and rebellious streak to Joy's energetic youngest-member vibe that every friend group can relate to. Oscar Buzz The numbers are absolutely mind-blowing and prove that good storytelling transcends cultural boundaries. Since its June 20th release, the film briefly claimed the number one spot in the streaming platform's movie section. Seven soundtrack tracks, including the viral "Soda Pop," "Golden," and "Take Down," have successfully infiltrated the US Billboard singles chart - a feat that typically requires massive marketing budgets and industry connections. Even the UK Official Singles Chart's Top 100 features three tracks from the film, which in Indian rupee terms translates to streaming revenues potentially worth hundreds of crores. The "Take Down" track carries extra star power with TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung lending their voices, adding another layer of authentic K-pop credibility to the project. What's generating serious industry buzz is that the film is being considered a strong contender for next year's Academy Awards in both the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song categories. This recognition would be groundbreaking for Korean animation and could pave the way for more culturally diverse animated content on global platforms.
