Amaravati will emerge as Green Hydrogen Valley, says Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday declared that Amaravati, the capital city of the State, will be developed as a Green Hydrogen Valley, positioning it at the forefront of India's clean energy revolution. Speaking at the Green Hydrogen Summit-2025 held at SRM University, located at the foothill of Neerukonda, a small hill in Amaravati, the Chief Minister called upon researchers and investors to focus on low-cost green hydrogen production and assured necessary infrastructure support from the government. Mr. Naidu emphasised the urgency to shift from traditional fossil fuels to carbon-free energy sources like green hydrogen, highlighting its potential to reduce costs and benefit the common man. He noted that green hydrogen would be a game-changer for the energy sector, supporting India's net-zero carbon target by 2070. Two major projects Two major investment deals worth ₹51,000 crore were signed at the summit in Mr. Naidu's presence. UK-based Yamna Company, which focused on developing and investing in green hydrogen and green ammonia projects, will invest ₹16,000 crore to establish a one-million-tonne capacity green hydrogen plant in Krishnapatnam, Nellore district. Similarly, KSH Infra will invest ₹35,000 crore to set up plants in Machilipatnam with a capacity of 150 kilotonnes of green hydrogen and 600 kilo tonnes of green ammonia per year. The Chief Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh is already advancing in this direction, with NTPC setting up a green hydrogen plant in Visakhapatnam and green ammonia production soon to begin in Kakinada. The State has set a target of producing 160 MW of green hydrogen and is developing electrolyser capacity of 3 GW alongside solar, wind, and pumped hydro energy. Mr. Naidu announced that a Quantum Valley powered by artificial intelligence will be established in Amaravati and that the Amaravati Green Hydrogen Declaration will be released after the two-day summit being held at SRM University. A review of its implementation will be held after one year, he added. The university Pro-Chancellor Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan said that they would focus on green energy research and development by partnering with the stakeholders. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving priority to non-corban energy and providing incentives for researchers and industrialists, with an aim to reduce the dependence on imported fossil fuels. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, NITI Aayog member V.K. Saraswat and others spoke on various aspects of green hydrogen. Many industrialists, eminent scholars and government officials participated in the programme.

KSH Infra to invest over Rs 550 crore in 60-acre logistics park in Tamil Nadu
