Wayne Rooney is banned from watching son, 15, play football for sad reason

Wayne Rooney has been banned from watching his son Kai play football, with the Manchester United legend's fame meaning the 15-year-old has to tell his dad to stay away Wayne Rooney's celebrity status has emerged as the reason behind the Manchester United legend being barred from watching his son Kai play football. The 15-year-old is the eldest child of Rooney and wife Coleen, who are also parents to three younger boys - Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six. ‌ Kai became part of the Red Devils academy in 2016, treading the same path as his iconic father who dedicated 13 years to Old Trafford and holds the club's scoring record with 253 goals. ‌ Despite being recognised as a promising talent, the young striker has informed his celebrated dad that his presence isn't welcome at matches, owing to the enormous crowds he attracts. ‌ The revelation came during Coleen's appearance on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here last year. Prior to securing second place behind McFly vocalist Danny Jones, she shared details of her son's difficult choice with her fellow campmates, reports the Express. "That's the thing with kids I think, it's hard to go on days out," Coleen revealed to her jungle companions last December. "Kai told Wayne to stop coming to football games, when he played grassroots tournaments and stuff because he used to get swarmed and he couldn't even watch the game. "How do you say to all of these kids, 'Go away, I'm watching my son?' Adults, it's different you could speak to them, so he [Kai] just said, 'Oh, dad there's no point you coming because you don't even watch me play anyway.' Which is sad, but it can't be helped anyway. At the same time, the fans help you along the way and get you where you are." Despite his father's absence, Kai has continued to shine in the academy and even found the net in United's opening SuperCupNI fixture on Monday. The teenager converted from the penalty spot and mimicked the trademark celebration of Arsenal's latest acquisition, Viktor Gyokeres. Following his assist for Sam O'Brien's opener against West Cork Academy, Kai confidently dispatched the spot-kick before team-mate Abdoulaye Bassirou Nkoto sealed a third. ‌ The celebration, which sees Gyokeres mask his face by weaving his fingers together, was devised whilst the Swedish striker was on his holidays, with the forward admitting his mates pushed him to devise his own goal celebration. "Before I got it, my friends were always saying to me to find my own celebration because they were very tired of me doing all kinds of stuff when I was celebrating," he previously said. "I had some time off. We went on vacation together. During that time, we came up with it after a while. We thought it looked good, and I started doing it straightaway. It felt even better on the pitch." ‌ Despite the existence of his ban, Rooney, 39, attended the tournament in Northern Ireland alongside his wife to keep a keen eye on their son in action. The ex-Plymouth boss spoke to BBC News NI about his son's career in the academy and the role he plays in his progression. "He has great coaches at Manchester United, so I take a stand-off approach," Rooney said. "I speak to him, but for me it's all about his mentality and his mindset, to make sure he keeps enjoying it – that's the main thing for me. It's a long time since I was here, but it does bring back great memories. "The Super Cup, like many other tournaments, is a fantastic place to go away as a young person; you're away with your team-mates in a hotel together, and it's great for team building." Dr. Falk Pharma and Allianthera (Suzhou) Biopharmaceuticals Forge Strategic Partnership for Novel AhR Agonist Development

Freiburg (Germany), Suzhou (China) and Boston (USA), July 30, 2025: Dr. Falk Pharma GmbH and Allianthera (Suzhou) Biopharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. Announce Strategic Partnership to Develop a Novel AhR Agonist for the Treatment of Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis Dr. Falk Pharma GmbH, a research-based pharmaceutical company specializing in digestive and metabolic medicine, Allianthera (Suzhou) Biopharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., and its affiliate Allianthera Boston, Inc., a clinical stage biotechnology company focusing on novel drug research and development in immunology and inflammatory diseases, (Allianthera), are pleased to announce the signing of an agreement on the co-development, license option, manufacturing, and commercialization of the novel small molecule ATB102, an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonist currently undergoing a phase 1 clinical trial in the United States. Under the terms of the newly signed agreement, Dr. Falk Pharma and Allianthera will collaborate to develop ATB102 for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with an initial focus on refractory moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC). Dr. Falk Pharma will enjoy the exclusive rights to license, manufacture, and commercialize ATB102 worldwide, excluding Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. As part of the agreement, Allianthera will receive a signing fee, significant development milestone payments as well as a licensing fee, followed by sales milestone payments and tiered royalties. ATB102, developed by Allianthera, is a gut-enriched AhR agonist which represents a new therapeutic approach for IBD. It is designed to specifically target inflammation and mucosal damage within the gastrointestinal tract, with a particular emphasis on treating refractory moderate-to-severe UC. In pre-clinical research, ATB102 supports immune homeostasis, restores mucosal barrier integrity, and confers anti-fibrotic and anti-oxidative benefits, making it a potential new option for patients unresponsive to or relapsed from existing therapies. Dr. Falk Pharma, in cooperation with its fully-owned subsidiary Losan Pharma GmbH, a leading contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) partner and formulation expert, will develop an innovative colonic-release formulation of ATB102 to complement the current immediate release formulation. 'The aryl hydrocarbon receptor represents a truly novel mechanism of action to address the significant unmet needs in inflammatory bowel disease - especially in ulcerative colitis. The ATB team has discovered what we believe to be the best-in-class AhR agonist optimized for safety, gut enrichment, and therapeutic impact. We are delighted to join forces with Dr. Falk Pharma, who has deep expertise in formulation and clinical development. By combining our complementary strengths, we are confident that we will accelerate this program and deliver a much-needed, high-quality therapy to patients faster than ever before,' said Yuanhua Ding, CEO of Allianthera. Kai Pinkernell, M.D., Managing Director, Science & Innovation at Dr. Falk Pharma, added, 'We are excited about the addition of ATB102 to our R&D pipeline and to further exploring the potential of this novel molecule in future clinical trials together with Allianthera. The partnership with Allianthera reflects the strength of scientific excellence, mutual trust and a shared vision to better the lives of patients suffering from IBD. This collaboration not only reflects our growing global development and commitment to innovation in areas of high unmet medical need, it will also enhance Dr. Falk Pharma´s portfolio to treat digestive diseases and conditions.' About Ulcerative Colitis Ulcerative colitis is one of the disorders known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Other disorders within this group of conditions include Crohn's disease and two forms of microscopic colitis, called lymphocytic and collagenous colitis. Ulcerative colitis is confined to the colon and typically begins in the rectum, spreading continuously throughout the rest of the large intestine. The exact cause of ulcerative colitis is still unclear; however immune system dysfunction, genetic factors, gut microbiome imbalance and dysregulation of the intestinal mucosal integrity as well as environmental factors are currently being investigated as potential contributors. Behind the music - Esprit D'Air

Alternative metal band Esprit D'Air play The Academy Green Room, Dublin on 26 February 2026 and The Limelight 2, Belfast on 27 February 2026. We asked them the BIG questions . . . The band are led by The Sisters Of Mercy's guitarist, Kai, and ex-Ghost and Pendragon drummer Jan-Vincent Velazco, ex-MergingMoon guitarist Takeshi on bass, and Yusuke on guitar. Their debut album, Constellations in 2017, won Best Metal Album at the Independent Music Awards, which was judged by Slayer, Sepultura, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. The released the follow-up, Oceans (Special Edition), in 2022, while their third album Seasons included a cover of Iron Maiden's The Trooper, featuring ex-Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens. A new dark future metal odyssey album, Aeons, is released this Autumn, with latest singles, Silver Leaf, Zetsubou no Hikari, Shadow of Time, and Lost Horizon, out now. Tell us three things about yourself . . . Yusuke: I've been living in the UK since I was three years old. I watch a lot of sports, in particular football and baseball, and I have a degree in mathematics. How would you describe your music? Kai: Imagine if a video game boss fight had a soundtrack with heavy guitars, epic synth leads and poppy vocal hooks- that's pretty much what we do. It's also the path of our life since we write about our experiences, struggles, as well as our hopes and dreams. Who are your musical inspirations? Takeshi: JUDY AND MARY. They have rock, pop, punk - basically all kinds of musical elements. Cute, beautiful, cool, handsome, stylish, uncool, ugly, sexy, erotic - this band has everything I'm looking for. If you were born and raised in Japan around the same time as me, there's no way you don't know them. What was the first gig you ever went to? Takeshi: A live show by jazz trumpeter Terumasa Hino. My dad, who liked jazz, took me when I was little. What was the first record you ever bought? Kai: I don't know if it counts because it was gifted to me, but it was Hikaru Utada's First Love album in 1999. I love her voice, and I got goosebumps hearing it performed live. But like Yusuke, one of the first rock albums I bought was Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park. What's your favourite song right now? Vincent: Lately, I've been listening to The Cult again. Their songs have so much feel, groove and emotion and for some bizarre reason, it makes me feel better. Right now, I'm listening to Sun King and Fire Woman on repeat. Favourite lyric of all time? Kai: I'm still trying to write it. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? Yusuke: Corridors of Time from the Chrono Trigger OST, by Yasunori Mitsuda. Beautiful piece of music that can be looped forever and also fits the theme of the question! Where can people find your music/more information? Alan Corr
