Katrina Kaif made everyone wait for 5 hours as she wore a custom Manish Malhotra saree on ‘Kala Chashma' set: ‘She can then do her magic with…'

Baar Baar Dekho (2016) was a romantic/sci-fi movie that just refused to work on so many levels when it hit the big screen. The narrative was pushy and without intent, and the filmmakers had somewhat of a distorted sense of what the 'future' is supposed to look like. But the one thing that definitely worked was the song 'Kala Chashma' from the film. Performed by Badshah, Neha Kakkar and Amar Arshi, the tune was a breakout hit and still finds space for itself in wedding and party playlists. Choreographer Bosco Martis, who worked on the song, recently talked about working with Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif and how the latter delayed the shoot for a wardrobe change. While talking to the BBC Asian Network, Martis talked about several Bollywood big hits that he has supervised in his multi-decade career, 'Kala Chashma' being one of them. He talked about his decided moves list for the song and explained how Katrina's unique wardrobe decision completely changed the game for them. 'It's really funny that you ask about 'Kala Chashma' because Katrina was wearing a lehenga in the song, and the moves we had designed had a lot of footwork in them. On the first day, she wore the lehenga, but on the second day we had to wait for 5 hours because she was wearing this custom saree designed by Manish Malhotra.' He admitted that this decision by Katrina was actually a godsend, as it allowed the intricate footwork involved in the song to be more visible and attractive. 'That outfit really shone through, because you could see the legs move and the Indian element of a saree in a new way. It was their creation that allowed the moves to be visible in the song. When you see all those things come together, it's worth the wait, because then you see Katrina do her magic with Sidharth.' The song is one of the most popular Indian songs on YouTube, amassing 1 billion views since its release. While the movie failed to do much during its theatrical run, the love and appreciation the song has received is certainly something to boast about. Directed by Nitya Mehra, the cast of Baar Baar Dekho featured stars like Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif, Sayani Gupta, Kirti Adharkar and Taha Shah Badussha.

Bosco Martis wishes Janhvi Kapoor gave him credit for Chuttamalle choreography: ‘If they don't realise...'

Choreographer Bosco Martis has made many stars dance to his tune in some of the most popular songs like Kala Chashma, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Tauba Tauba, and more. In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, Bosco spoke about choreographers not getting their due credit and expressed disappointment over Janhvi Kapoor not acknowledging him for the hit song Chuttamalle. (Also Read: Chuttamalle from Devara Part 1: Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor remind fans of NTR, Sridevi in romantic song) Bosco discussed how choreographers often go unrecognised and said, "The amount of hard work that has gone in and the amount of planning and expertise it took to make the song look the way it does—when the song is released and becomes a superhit, the choreographer is forgotten. A choreographer is not celebrated when the song is showcased for the first time. A star is celebrated because they are the face of the song, and the choreographer is given the backseat and sometimes becomes invisible. I have been vocal about this because I think it's time we speak about it. It's a little disheartening sometimes to not even see your name in the list of credits." Bosco went on to praise Vicky Kaushal for acknowledging him during the promotions of Tauba Tauba and celebrating him, letting the world know about his contribution. He also appreciated Hrithik Roshan for crediting him and talking about a step Bosco gave him in Mission Kashmir. However, when asked about not receiving credit for the Devara Part 1 song Chuttamalle, which went viral due to Janhvi's moves, Bosco said, "I wish Janhvi would have spoken about it in the promotions, but that's fine, it's okay. If they don't realise it, then they don't realise it. It's a switch. I don't know, I think the correction has to be made, but there's a scientific way of doing this instead of forcing yourself and making the call and asking someone, 'Why haven't you taken my name?' or 'Why are you not talking about me?'" Anirudh Ravichander composed the song, which is titled Chuttamalle in Telugu, Dheere Dheere in Hindi, Paththavaikkum in Tamil, Swaathimutthe Sikkangaithe in Kannada, and Kanninathan Kamanottam in Malayalam. Bosco Martis choreographed the number, with vocals by Shilpa Rao. The song from Devara Part 1 features Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR romancing on a beach. The song became a chartbuster, with many fans being reminded of 'senior NTR and Sridevi's romance'.
