Farhatabad villagers demand a stop for KKRTC buses at their village
Kalaburagi: Protesters blocked vehicles on the Bidar-Srirangapatna highway at Farhatabad village, which falls under the Afzalapura assembly constituency of Kalaburagi taluk, staging an hour-long demonstration on Sunday.
Despite two directives issued to divisional controllers of KKRTC of Kalaburagi Division-1, Kalaburagi Division-2, Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, Hosapete, and Vijayapura dated March 1, 2025 and May 8, 2025, most express buses continue to skip stops.
A petition was submitted on December 26, 2023 to the divisional control officer (Division-2) requesting the establishment of a traffic control point in Farhatabad village.
Despite the gram panchayat allocating suitable space, authorities have remained unresponsive.
This situation has created significant difficulties for students and residents. There are demands for mandatory stops at Farhatabad village for all express buses. Additionally, schedule number 123, one of the two city buses operating between Supermarket-Farhatabad before Covid, needs immediate reinstatement.

The traffic situation has become disorderly with increased congestion. Farhatabad, being a hobli centre, has two commercial banks, a tashildar's office, a farmer centre, educational institutions from nursery to graduate level, a police station, hospitals, and various administrative offices.
Local residents and students continue to face significant challenges. The villagers have submitted a memorandum to Kalaburagi Division 2 Traffic authorities requesting additional bus service to Nadi Sinnur village and a dedicated bus operating between Farhatabad and Kalaburagi Supermarket according to scheduled timings.
