Clarkson's Farm breakout star Harriet Cowan makes emotional plea as she leads farming campaign after leaving the show
Clarkson's Farm breakout star Harriet Cowan has made an emotional plea as she fronted a new farming campaign. The glam farmhand, 24, stole the show in series four as she arrived on screens to assist at Diddly Squat Farm while Jeremy Clarkson's usual helper, Kaleb Cooper, was away. But after leaving the show, Harriet has returned to her family farm and shared a powerful message to the public and the government this week about the 'dying industry', asking them to 'put British farming on the map'. Harriet has been leading a campaign called Farm24, which sees farmers across the country showcase the best of British farming by sharing content on social media for 24 hours from 5am to 5am. In a video filmed on her family farm, Harriet said: 'Going forward I hope that the next generation of farms would be recognised more by the public and the government especially to put British farming on the map. 'People should be aware that we are here and the government should invest more time and money into farming because we need it. 'I think it's a bit of a dying industry otherwise.' In another clip, she said: 'Being out on my family farm, it's so special to me because this is what my grandad bought it for. He wanted me and my sister and generations to come to own and farm this land. 'Now that there's so many farms being turned into housing and different things like factories and agricultural land isn't being used for agricultural purposes anymore, I think it's so important to just farm what my grandad bought.' She added: 'This is my happy place, being out in the fields and tractoring and contracting out to me and my sister. 'We never want to lose this farm and it's important to us that generations to come will farm this land.' Harriet is heavily involved with her rural community which her grandparents joined in the 1950s when they bought the land which her father still farms. When she's not trying to keep Jeremy in line Harriet works at a cattle farm with her boyfriend, James, just a short distance from the family farm. Prior to becoming Jeremy's side-kick, Harriet had already been building her profile as a farmer on TikTok and had around 40,000 followers before joining the Diddly Squat team. She told The Times recently that she now gets approached all the time, saying: 'Mums have reached out to say my daughter's wanting to go into farming. 'Or I hear about four-year-old girls who want a toy tractor for Christmas, so that's really nice.' It was through her TikTok that Harriet was approached by the show, she said: 'Charlie [Ireland, Clarkson's land agent] let me know they were looking for someone to come and help. 'I think they were keen for it to be a woman who could do that role and show they could do it well.' Despite saying he's not a natural born farmer, Harriet has praised Jeremy for his work at Diddly Squat saying he is, 'very much like every other farmer I've ever met' and 'very much willing to learn. He wanted to do well by the farm.' Poking fun, Harriet added that 'he's got the physique of a farmer' too. The glam farmhand added that other young farmers in her area couldn't believe that she would be on Clarkson's Farm. She said: 'They thought, "Ah, you'll be in the back of the pub and they'll have filmed the pub and the back of your head will be in it." So when it came out they were, like, "Oh sh**, she is actually in it a bit more than I thought she was!"' Harriet's fans have raved about her not letting go of her girlie style and look despite being a farmer but in conversation with The Times she opened up about the 'challenges' of being a young woman in the industry. She said that her father told her and her sister that without a male heir, they would be stepping up to help. Harriet added that she has loved showcasing that women can farm too and now has plans to start documenting life on her family farm on YouTube. The fourth season of Clarkson's Farm in which Harriet was introduced to viewers released to Prime Video in May.

Jeremy Clarkson reveals his Diddly Squat Farm hit by TB outbreak
Bovine tuberculosis has been discovered at Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, Jeremy Clarkson has said. Clarkson, 65, said the tuberculosis (TB) was found in a cow pregnant with two calves. Infected animals are often destroyed to stop the disease spreading. The TV presenter wrote on X: 'Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated.' He added: 'The offending animal is pregnant with twins.' Jeremy Clarkson previously said badgers 'cause heartache' to farmers One fan asked whether Endgame, his prize-winning Aberdeen Angus bull, had been infected. Clarkson said Endgame's test was 'inconclusive', adding: 'I couldn't bear it if we lost him.' Clarkson had previously discussed the threat posed by bovine TB on his show Clarkson's Farm. In one scene, he was told the presence of badgers at Diddly Squat put his cattle at risk of contracting TB. One of the badgers on the farm had tested positive for the bacteria which causes the disease. He said: 'These are not nice animals. They cause heartache to people who've worked for generations to build up a farm.' Clarkson was reported to have been visited by police after claims by activists he had filled in badger setts at the farm. The presenter told officers that he had actually shot the animals legally under licence. In 2023 Clarkson's farm assistant, Kaleb Cooper, said that three of his own 21 dairy cows had contracted bovine TB. At the time, Cooper said: 'I don't really know how to describe the emotion. I know it's not all my cows, but it's hard. It's not good. 'Three reactors, so we've therefore got to test again in two months' time. That's three cows we've lost that are milking.'

Kaleb Cooper bemoans 'post knocker' robbery
Kaleb Cooper has been the victim of a robbery. The 27-year-old farmer - who is best-known for his appearances on Clarkson's Farm - has revealed that his £7,000 post knocker, used for hammering in fences, has been stolen. Kaleb said on Instagram: "My post knocker was stolen last night. "As well as the John Deere tractor. "Can we please make this as hot as possible! "What is going on with England at the moment!" Home and Country Fencing, the company whose tractor was also stolen, has addressed the robbery on social media. The company said: "Unfortunately, we have had one of our tractors and post knockers stolen overnight. "There has been a silver 4 x 4 burnt out just down the road which is possibly related." Clarkson's Farm has been a big hit since it first aired in 2021 - but Jeremy previously admitted that the success came as something of a surprise to him. The TV star explained in The Sunday Times newspaper: "I did think it'd serve up gentle disappointment to the Top Gear, Grand Tour audience. "I very much was typecast as this man who drove around corners too quickly while shouting and using hyperbole to make a point. I thought, why would anybody who watches Top Gear or The Grand Tour want to watch this bucolic show about farming? "Then they did and it brought a whole new audience who'd never watched a single programme I'd made." Prior to that, Jeremy described how he found "absolute joy" in his role as "midwife" for cows at Diddly Squat. He said: "I pulled until it felt like my eyes were bleeding. Until, phloomh, the calf was out. "I rushed over to it, scraping the gunk - again, I'm not sure that's the correct term - from its face before putting a bit of straw up its nose to make it sneeze and start breathing. And it did. "And I simply cannot tell you how that feels. I was exhausted, my arms felt as though they were on fire, I was covered in slimy cow juice and faeces and I was smiling a smile that I simply didn't think would be possible in any kind of workplace."

Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper issues desperate plea after shocking theft at his home
Clarkson's Farm star, Kaleb Cooper, asked his followers for help after revealing he had been the victim of a bizarre theft of his tractor and his door knocker at home Clarkson's Farm star, Kaleb Cooper, has issued a desperate plea for help after revealing that someone has nicked his tractor. The dad-of-two, 27, who has a huge following from the Amazon show, was gobsmacked as he told fans his prized possession has been stolen – as well as his front door knocker. Taking to social media, asking for information regarding the theft, Kaleb shared a screenshot from his Home & Country Fencing Facebook page, which read: "Unfortunately we have had one of our tractors and post knockers stolen over night near Fulmer Lane, Gerrards Cross. "John Deere 6630 reg is OU11ARF and a protech p200s series number 10698. If anyone has any information please give me a call. There has been silver 4X4 burnt out just down the road which is possibly related." It comes after the star asked "What is going on in the world?" when he was forced to call 999 after two Chinese lanterns were wilfully released outside his farm "in the middle of a heatwave". Victoria Beckham makes feelings on Brooklyn feud clear with telling social media move Lauren James' salary compared to Chelsea star brother's after nail-biting Euro 2025 win Alongside the post on FaceBook showing his tractor and door knocker, Kaleb wrote: "My post knocker was stolen last night. As well as the John Deere tractor. Can we make this as hot as possible! What on earth is going with England at the moment?" The farmhand-turned-celebrity was fuming again earlier this month on Instagram as he shared his shock over the sight of lanterns drifting skyward near Chipping Norton. Upping the drama, he asked: "What is going on his the world? I've just called this in to 999 but someone has felt the need to light two Chinese lanterns in and around the Chipping Norton area. They are currently floating over the area. I'm looking at both of them as we speak right now. Shedding light on the reckless act amid drought-like conditions, he commented: "But what goes through someone's mind when they decide to light two Chinese lanterns in the middle of a heatwave. We've hardly had any rain since March. Jesus, honestly. What's going on with the world." Back in May Kaleb revealed the truth about his absence from Clarkson's Farm series four and explained how 'brilliant' stand-in farmhand Harriet Cowan 'saved the day'. Season four of the smash-hit show hit our screens on May 23 and saw Kaleb disappear halfway through for a nationwide speaking tour. He was temporarily replaced by plucky farmhand Harriet and Kaleb revealed she was 'brilliant' and even helped Jeremy 'trim his eyebrows'. The young farmer confirmed to This Morning's Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd that he was still very much a part of the show, but Harriet "saved the day" with her help while he was away.
