FPS meant to supply ration to all card holders: Minister
Rajamahendravaram: The coalition government is committed to ensuring that welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary in a satisfactory and timely manner, said Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh. Speaking at Sathivada village in Undrajavaram mandal on Sunday, where he inaugurated the distribution of essential commodities through fair price shops, the minister announced that the Mobile Dispensing Units (MDUs) have been scrapped and ration distribution is being reintroduced through traditional ration shops. He stated that this decision was made after recognising the hardships people faced under the MDU system. 'From now on, poor families will receive uninterrupted access to essential commodities. Ration goods will be available for 15 days each month through fair price shops. Special arrangements are being made to deliver supplies to the homes of persons with disabilities and the elderly aged above 65,' he said. The minister added that the government has launched this statewide initiative as a prestigious mission. He criticised the previous government for policy failures that disrupted the regular supply of rations to the poor, pointing out that MDU vans delivered ration goods only to limited points, forcing the elderly and the differently abled to struggle for access. 'This issue was seriously discussed in the Cabinet, leading to the decision to restore fair price shops. The Opposition is trying to mislead people with misinformation on this reform,' Durgesh said. He assured that issues surrounding ration card issuance are being addressed and that beneficiaries can now make corrections or modifications to their cards. He urged cooperation from officials, the public, and ration dealers to ensure the success of the new system. Strict action will be taken against dealers who misuse the rice meant for distribution, he warned. He also promised that the concerns of ration dealers would be resolved quickly and announced the establishment of a new stock point at Tanuku for dealers in Undrajavaram and Peravali mandals. The minister said that of the 3.4 lakh metric tonnes of paddy approved for procurement across East Godavari district, 1.2 lakh metric tonnes were procured from Nidamarru constituency alone. He said that high yields in some areas have left surplus paddy, prompting discussions with Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar to procure an additional 10,000 metric tonnes. Banking guarantee norms have also been eased for millers, he added. Despite his state wide ministerial responsibilities, Durgesh affirmed his continuous efforts to address local issues. He promised to remain accessible through the camp offices in Rajamahendravaram and Nidadavolu. Speaking at the event, district joint collector S Chinna Ramudu said that ration goods will be distributed to 5,64,994 cardholders through 870 fair price shops across the district. Former MLA and newly appointed Chairman of State Skill Development Corporation Burugupalli Sesharao, RDO Rani Susmitha, and Civil Supplies Officer MRR Prem Kumar also participated in the programme.

Pawan Kalyan calls for regulated ticket pricing and theatre reforms amid Andhra Pradesh shutdown row
Picture Credit: X Actor and deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has addressed the ongoing theatre shutdown issue in Andhra Pradesh, requesting the Telugu film industry to adopt a more organized approach for movie ticket price hike requests. As per a Hindi report, he shared that any such demands should be made through the proper channels, specifically via the Telugu Film Industry Council, rather than individual producers or representatives acting on their own. This guideline applies to all upcoming films, including Pawan Kalyan's own much-anticipated release, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu'. During a recent briefing, Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh updated the Deputy CM on the theatre bandh situation and the government's response so far. Pawan Kalyan issued clear instructions on the need for strict and regulated management of cinema halls across the state to ensure better services for moviegoers. The 'Gabbar Singh' actor also shared that government departments responsible for overseeing theatres must carry out their duties with diligence and proper supervision. Regular inspections and monitoring should be conducted to maintain standards in ticket pricing and theatre operations. Pawan Kalyan also spoke about the importance of making cinema visits affordable and family-friendly. He pointed out that high prices for food and beverages inside theatres such as popcorn, soft drinks, and bottled water often exceed the cost of the tickets themselves, discouraging many families from frequenting cinemas. He urged theatre owners to keep these prices reasonable and stressed that providing clean drinking water and maintaining hygiene should be basic responsibilities. Local authorities, he said, must ensure these standards are upheld. He directed the Cinematography Minister to initiate an inquiry into these pricing and quality issues, coordinating closely with the tax department to address the problem. Producers should approach Andhra govt through the film chamber: Pawan Kalyan
Vijayawada, May 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday said that the film producers should not approach the government individually, but through the film chamber to seek any hike in cinema ticket rates. Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh apprised Pawan Kalyan of the circumstances which led the distributors and exhibitors to announce the closure of cinema theatres from June 1. Pawan Kalyan told Durgesh to implement the policy that only film chamber representatives should approach the government to discuss any matter. Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan made several key suggestions. He said whether it is a hike in ticket prices or the issue of management of cinema halls, all matters should be dealt with efficiently. 'For even the Pawan Kalyan-starrer film 'Hari Hara Veeramallu' movie, scheduled to be released on June 12, the producer should not approach the government individually but he should consult through the film chamber to seek a hike of ticker price,' Pawan Kalyan said. Pawan Kalyan and Kandula Durgesh also discussed the exorbitant prices of popcorn, soft drinks and other eatable items in the multiplex theatres. They also discussed selling of drinking water bottles at high prices in the multiplexes. Pawan Kalyan told the Cinematography Minister that the selling of edible items and soft drinks were monopolised across the state in multiplexes as also in single screen theatres. The Deputy Chief Minister opined that if audiences want to come to the cinema hall with their families, they should not be held back by the prices of food and soft drinks. UNI DP SSP
