Mika Salamanca says her old singing videos were dedicated to her OFW mom

Mika Salamanca became the first Kapuso big winner of 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," and with it came the resurgence of her old videos from her childhood, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the Mika we know today. Among those that have gone viral were her videos singing some songs, such as 'Sino Nga Ba Siya' by Sarah Geronimo and 'The Climb' by Miley Cyrus. In a media conference for the Sparkle housemates of 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" on Thursday, the "PBB" big winner said that those videos from her childhood were made for her mother, Mommy Bambie, who was working abroad as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). ''Yung mom ko po kasi ay isang OFW. Hindi po siya nakakapunta sa lahat ng mga events namin sa school. Wala po siya every time,' she shared. 'So 'yung mga pineperform ko po sa school, vinivideo ng ate ko, ng mga pinsan tapos pinapadala sa kaniya kasi po through that mapapanood niya po 'yung performance ko na siya lang or solo niya nang malapit. Kaya po para sa nanay ko po 'yung lahat ng videos ko,' Mika added. Mika also shared an update about her upcoming album, as she previously said that she wants to pursue music now that she's in the outside world. 'Niluluto na po. And sobrang excited ko po at nandoon po ang 'Sino Nga Ba Siya,'' the Sparkle star said. Mika won 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition' alongside her duo, Brent Manalo. She currently stars in 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre' as Anaca. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

Kim Ji Soo on his role in 'Sanggang-Dikit FR': 'He's totally a bad guy'

Kim Ji Soo has returned to Philippine primetime with his appearance in "Sanggang-Dikit FR." According to Athena Imperial's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the South Korean actor portrays an assassin in the action series starring Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado. Kim Ji Soo previously did action in "Black Rider," but this time, his character has a different motivation. "In the 'Black Rider, it was kinda good way, the character. He's like, protects someone. But here, he's opposite to justice. He killed people for money. He's totally a bad guy," he said. Despite his role as a villain in "Sanggang-Dikit FR," he enjoys working with Dennis, the Kapuso Drama King and avid TikTokerist. "He is really professional and very sweet. And some way he's kind of funny. He's a good actor," he said. Dennis, meanwhile, said he first got intimated by the Korean star. "Nung nakagawa na kami ng mga eksena, ang kulit din pala niya. Naka-adapt siya dito sa sistema ng mga Pilipino kung papaano paggawa ng mga teleserye," he said. They are now planning to do TikTok videos together. "Sanggang-Dikit FR" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8:50 p.m. after "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre." You can also watch it on YouTube via the Kapuso Stream. —MGP, GMA Integrated News

7 rehabilitated Kapuso classrooms in Pililla, Rizal now ready for use

Seven newly rehabilitated Kapuso classrooms at the Virgilio B. Melendres Memorial Elementary School in Pililla, Rizal, are now ready for use. According to "24 Oras" on Wednesday, GMA Kapuso Foundation first built the seven Kapuso classrooms in the school in 2010 after it was devastated by Typhoon Ondoy. The Kapuso classrooms, however, were devastated in 2024 following the onslaught of super typhoon Carina and tropical storm Enteng. The classrooms, now restored and made even stronger, are ready to be used, with Kindergarten student Grey among the many learners who will get to experience them. "Binuhusan natin 'yung corridor sa likod. At the same time, nilagyan natin ng kanal para 'yung tubig ma-divert siya hindi papunta sa classroom, papunta na siya palabas dito sa school," said GMA Kapuso Foundation supervising engineer Arnel Zantua. New armchairs and teachers' desks were also installed in Kapuso classrooms. A smart TV was likewise donated to the school, and rice and food were distributed to the students. GMA Kapuso Foundation advocate Patricia Tumulak was among those who took part in the initiative. "Sana ganahan sila mag-aral kasi sa pamamagitan ng pag-aaral nang mabuti diyan tayo aahon sa kahirapan at kaagapay ninyo ang GMA Kapuso Foundation at ang mga donors at sponsors nito," said GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP/COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Barbie Forteza all praises for Kyline Alcantara: 'She's very delightful and generous'

Barbie Forteza is all praises for her friend and "Beauty Empire" co-star Kyline Alcantara. In her GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired in "24 Oras" Tuesday, the Kapuso Primetime Princess shared that this is the first time she and Kyline worked together in a teleserye. "Nakakatrabaho ko na po siya dati sa 'All-Out Sundays,' sumasayaw na kami together, nag-s-spiels na kami together pero ngayon ko lang siya na-experience as an actress at masasabi ko na she's very delightful and generous," praised Barbie. "She's very genuine when it comes to giving emotions sa eksena. Marunong siyang magtimpla ng eksena at tsaka malalim 'yung hugot niya bilang aktor," she added. Barbie and Kyline's friendship has gotten even deeper as they started working together in "Beauty Empire." In Kyline's previous GMA Integrated News interview, she shared that she has wanted to work with Barbie since she started in GMA Network in 2018. "Right now, I have the privilege of working with her, so ang sarap po sa pakiramdam. As in idol ko po talaga at lagi ko naman sinasabi 'yan kay Barbie pag nagkaka-eksena pa rin kami. Hanggang ngayon may konting kaba pa rin at nginig pa rin sa baba kapag ka-eksena ko si Barbie kasi napakagaling po ni Barbie," said Kyline. The two stars also bond outside of taping. Per Kyline, they like going out for coffee together; she has also ventured into running thanks to Barbie. During Kyline's guesting in "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on July 11, she could not help but turn emotional as she shared how Barbie helped her cope with her recent heartbreak. She added that their relationship right now is more than just being coworkers, agreeing with Tito Boy that they are like sisters. Kyline and Barbie star together in "Beauty Empire" with Ruffa Gutierrez, Gloria Diaz, Chai Fonacier, and more. It airs Mondays to Thursdays at 9:35 p.m. on GMA Network. It is also available on Viu. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
