'S***t show': US employee's savage response to boss goes viral after she was fired from her job

A US employee has gone viral for her candid and composed response during the moment she was laid off—earning widespread praise across social media. Karson Bree , who shared the experience on TikTok, posted a recording from a video call with her former employer in which she was informed her position was being terminated. Although she blurred the faces and withheld the company's name, Karson explained in the caption that she had been working at a local magazine, describing the job as a complete 's–t show.' After just under three months with the company, Karson was called into a video meeting with two senior managers and an HR representative. She was told her employment was being terminated 'effective immediately.' When she asked for the reason, her manager—whom she referred to only as Lisa—explained that, as her 90-day probation period was ending, they had decided she 'wasn't a great fit.' Karson calmly asked to respond and gave a detailed account of her experience. She explained that many of the issues cited were beyond her control: she often received content late and lacked access to necessary systems. She said she was consistently met with obstacles and had received minimal feedback throughout her time there. 'I tried to do my job' 'I reached out to you for guidance and often received no response,' she told Lisa. 'I tried to do my job to the best of my ability, and quite frankly, you made that very difficult.' Karson also criticized the handling of her dismissal, saying, 'It was unacceptable to receive a message at 11 p.m. the night before, informing me I was being laid off the next day—and then immediately losing access to everything.' Not backing down, Karson pressed for clarification: 'Was it a problem with my workflow? Kendall, I'd really like to know if you had any specific issues working with me.' Kendall replied that it was more about stylistic compatibility. Before the call ended, Karson made one final suggestion. 'If you want to maintain a strong team going forward, your leadership needs to demonstrate the skills required to produce a well-designed magazine,' she said. 'Had I been given the right tools and timely materials, I could have delivered better results.' She concluded by accepting responsibility for minor mistakes—but firmly stated, 'The late publications were not my fault. I want to be clear about that.' Karson was then reminded that this call was 'not about Julie,' to which she responded that she understood that, but felt she wouldn't get a chance in the future to raise her concerns. She then ended the call by saying. 'It has been lovely working with you, Kendall, I cannot say the same for you, Julie. Have a great day.' Since sharing the video to TikTok last week, it has been viewed more than 2.3 million times and has gained more than 4,400 comments. Many praised the employee for how she handled the situation and her professionalism. 'You did such a beautiful job standing up for yourself. Their answers were so vague,' one wrote. Another person branded her response 'epic,' and another said it was 'extremely satisfying to watch.'

Worker's savage response to boss goes viral after she's laid off from her job

An employee has shared the moment she was laid off from her job, with her savage response earning her huge amounts of praise from social media users. The US woman, who goes by Karson Bree online, recently shared a recording of a video call from last year in which her then-employer told her that she would no longer be working for the company. Advertisement Karson did not name the company and also blurred the faces of the other people in the video, but in the caption of the TikTok, she explained she had taken a job at a local magazine and described the experience as a 's–t show.' After less than three months with the company, she was asked to join a video call with two senior staff members and an HR representative, in which she was told her employment was being 'terminated effective immediately.' When asked why she was being let go, her boss, who she referred to only as Lisa, informed her that it was coming towards the end of the first 90 days of her employment and that she felt it 'wasn't a great fit.' @babyplight Sharing my layoff video from last year cause why not. 🤷‍♀️😅 For context: I took a position with a local company known for treating employees poorly and was run by a woman who couldn't pronounce or spell words like, 'Mahjong' despite being the Editor in Chief, and wrote her editor letters via voice note and later edited by an actual editor. Her boss then pointed to issues like the publication going out late, having typos and her design not being a 'good fit' for the publication. Karson then asked if she could provide feedback on these claims before launching into a detailed breakdown of her experience with the company. She claimed a lot of the reasons for these issues were out of her control, such as receiving materials late and not being given access to accounts that would help get things out on time. Advertisement The worker claims she was 'met with roadblocks' every step of the way before taking direct aim at her boss. 'I received very little feedback from you and often there were times where I did reach out to you without being told anything or having any reply or response whatsoever,' she said. Karson Bree went viral for how she reacted to losing her job. @babyplight/TikTok The woman added: 'I feel like I have done every step of the way of trying to do this job to the best of my abilities and, quite frankly, you have made it very difficult.' There was another long pause following this, after which Karson asked when the decision to end her employment was made. This time the other senior worker on the call, referred to as Kendall, responded, claiming there was 'no specific date' and they just felt it 'wasn't a good fit' and hoped she could find a role that was better suited to her 'style' of work. Once again, Karson pushed back on this, asking, 'So was it a problem with my style of working? Kendall, I would love to know specifically if you had issues with my workflow with you.' Social media users praised how Bree reacted to being terminated. @babyplight/TikTok The woman explained it wasn't as much a workflow problem as they found that she wasn't a stylistic fit for the magazine. But the worker wasn't done quite yet, saying that, in that case, she would 'love to make a suggestion'. 'If you guys want to maintain a good team and moving forward, you need to make sure that your leadership is also possessing the strengths that need to be had to make a well-designed magazine,' Karson said, adding that if she had been given the proper materials in a timely manner she would have been able to do her job more effectively. Advertisement 'I apologize for there being slips and typos and slight mistakes, but when it comes down to it, the publications being sent out late are not my fault. I want that to be clear. It was not my fault.' She then addressed her boss Julie directly, saying she hoped she took this feedback on-board, stating that 'since starting my biggest frustration was working with you'. 'I want that to be known because you have not given me the time to express that to you or give you any feedback until this moment,' she said. Others were stunned by how unprepared the leadership team seemed to be when Karson asked simple questions, such as why she was being let go. Advertisement 'Did they not expect you to ask why…?' one person said. 'Them sitting in silence like that was embarrassing when she asked questions,' another wrote, with one agreeing, saying, 'The silence was crazy.' There were also HR professionals in the comment section who were horrified by how the situation was handled. 'I'm a person that unfortunately has to fire people and lay people off as part of my job. I have a full script and different things to say based off of different outcomes. I always tell them why, show empathy and let them know I never want to give the news,' one person said.

McGowan carries on Holmes County reputation at NWF

NICEVILLE, Fla. (WMBB) – Following in her father's and cousin's footsteps, Northwest Florida State freshman Karson McGowan is living up to the reputation of star Raiders from Holmes County. Less than a year after leading her high school softball team to the Final Four, McGowan is making a name for herself at the Northwest Florida State. Through 28 games, McGowan has a .421 batting average, 32 hits, 33 runs, 23 RBI and 4 HR. The freshman earned her way into the Raider's starting lineup and even she was a bit surprised by her early collegiate success. 'I don't want to say surprised, because I do believe in myself, but at the same time, I definitely was a little bit shocked,' McGowan said. Northwest Florida State Head Softball Coach Andy Lee said he knew he had recruited a talented player but he was impressed with McGowan's quick adaptation to NJCAA softball. 'Karson was a big surprise this year,' Lee said 'You know, in the fall she split time, and in the spring I gave her an opportunity, and she's putting up probably some of the best numbers on the team right now.' While McGowan is exceeding expectations, she did have a bit of pressure hanging over her head when she arrived in Niceville. She is following behind the wildly successful two seasons of her cousin, Colby Jones, a star player on the NWF baseball team who was drafted by the Atlanta Braves last summer. 'I'm actually known as Colby Jones's cousin here,' McGowan laughed. 'So, it's definitely big footsteps to fill, because he made such an impact, not only on the field but off the field as well. And so, I think it was more of motivation instead of pressure.' Coach Lee said he had the opportunity to teach Jones in one of his classes when he was on campus and that he sees similarities between him and his younger cousin. 'Colby was just a straight-up competitor,' Lee said. 'I mean, the guy was a dog. He worked so hard. And you can see genetically that it kind of runs in the family. Karson's a little quieter and doesn't talk about it as much as Colby would. But, you know, that bloodline runs very deep athletically, and they've learned from each other how to compete and how to win.' Karson said that her cousin Colby is not the only reason she decided to play at Northwest Florida State. 'Actually, it's not just him that came here,' McGowan said. 'My dad played here as well when he was in college.' Through half of her freshman season, McGowan has done well to carry on the torch from her family members and she is hoping to continue proving that small-town softball players can compete with the best in college. 'It is a big transition, me and Sister (Arnold) talk about all the time, coming from a 1A school,' McGowan said. Coming here, it gave me a lot of confidence in the fact that it doesn't matter where you come from, as long as you put in that hard work, you can pretty much do anything.' The Northwest Florida State softball team is 28-2 on the season and ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA. The Raiders will host Snead State for a doubleheader on Friday, February 28.
