Walker & Dunlop to benefit from stronger GSE volumes, says Keefe Bruyette

Keefe Bruyette says Friday's Commercial Mortgage Alert characterized Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FMCC) as 'leaning in on price and structure' to gain market share, with some sources saying they aim to achieve this year's lending caps. The article also cites data from Recursion, showing Fannie Mae's volumes through May at $22.8B, up 48% year-over-year, while Freddie Mac is cited as flat year-over-year through April, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Keefe believes that while macro uncertainty is a risk, stronger government sponsored entity volumes benefit Walker & Dunlop (WD) in particular, as well as Arbor Realty (ABR), CBRE Group (CBRE), JLL (JLL), and Newmark (NMRK). Belfast Giants honour legendary head coach Adam Keefe with jersey retirement at testimonial

At a testimonial game in Keefe's honour, celebrating his 14 years of service to the Giants, in front of his family – including brother Sheldon, head coach of the NHL's New Jersey Devils – his jersey was raised to the rafters at the SSE Arena. It is the highest honour that can be bestowed in hockey and a wholly deserved one for Keefe, the team's most successful coach and an individual who is described as the "heartbeat" of the organisation. And now nobody will ever wear the No.47 jersey ever again as, after a heartfelt speech by Giants chairman Robert Fitzpatrick, the banner was lofted above the West End net where it will forever stay. The jersey raising ceremony was followed by the testimonial, which took the form of a round-robin tournament between former team-mates and players that Keefe has coached split into four teams named after Keefe's former teams. Current Belfast stars such as captain Mark Cooper, David Goodwin, Ben Lake and Jackson Whistle all featured, while fellow retired jerseys Rob Stewart, Colin Shields and Graeme Walton also took part, with Todd Kelman and Shane Johnson taking their place as coaches alongside Sheldon Keefe. Joining the organisation in 2011 as a hard-nosed forward and quickly establishing himself as captain in only his second season in Belfast, Keefe would win two Elite League titles with the Giants as a player but it is as coach that his legacy has been taken to another level. In his seven seasons in charge, Keefe has delivered ten trophies to the Giants out of a possible 19, including the Grand Slam in 2023 as his all-conquering side swept all before them to secure League, Challenge Cup and Play-Off glory. Last season the Brampton, Ontario native led the Giants to their fourth League title under his stewardship, winning a dramatic final day race to clinch the crown, as well as a fifth Cup, and is now preparing to take the team into the Champions League for the fourth time next season. Not just the team's coach, Keefe has now built his life in Northern Ireland having married wife Colleen, with the couple welcoming their first daughter Cora in 2021, with Tara following in 2023.

Director of bipartisan energy group says Big Beautiful Bill could kill clean energy jobs in West Virginia

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The executive director of a bipartisan group which represents business leaders and investors in the U.S. green energy sector said a budget proposed by President Donald Trump could kill energy jobs in West Virginia. Bob Keefe, executive director of E2 and author of the book 'Clean Economy Now,' said on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, that businesses across the country had cancelled or delayed more than $14 billion in investments and 10,000 clean energy jobs since January. Keefe said West Virginia jobs in construction, manufacturing and other sectors in Huntington, Wayne County and other places in the state will be affected if the U.S. Senate were to vote in favor of a portion of the budget which calls for cutting clean energy tax credits. Attorney for pregnancy rights group says West Virginia law protects women who miscarry Keefe made the announcement a few days after officials at Core Natural Resources, citing the market, warned more than 200 miners at Itmann Mine #5 in Wyoming County that they would face a lay-off in early August, if mine operations did not improve. 'Look, every job is important. Every coal job is important,' Keefe said on Wednesday. 'What's killing coal is not clean energy. What's killing coal is that coal companies continue to automate and also, frankly, the economics have caught up with the energy industry.' Keefe said utility companies pay more to burn coal and that West Virginians pay rising utility costs as a result. CEO of WV Coal Association says trade war with China will impact coal operations 'The good news is we have the opportunity to transition those coal jobs, and who better to drive the energy industry than coal workers, and that means coal workers in West Virginia,' Keefe said. 'These jobs are just now coming. Hopefully, Congress, in the next few weeks, doesn't kill it off.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Belfast Giants to retire Adam Keefe's #47 jersey: ‘I am truly humbled'

At his testimonial game on Sunday, recognising 14 years of remarkable service to the organisation as a player and a coach, the Giants legend will become only the eighth player in club history to see his jersey raised to the rafters, never to be worn again by another player. It is the highest honour that can be bestowed in hockey and a wholly deserved one for Keefe, the team's most successful coach and an individual who is described as the "heartbeat" of the organisation. Commenting on the retirement of his 47 jersey, Adam Keefe said: 'It's hard to put into words what this means to me. Belfast has become my home, and the Giants have been my life for over a decade. To see my jersey raised to the rafters, in front of my family and friends, and our incredible fans who have supported me all these years before my testimonial, will be truly humbling. I'm very honoured and proud.' Joining the organisation in 2011 as a hard-nosed forward and quickly establishing himself as captain in only his second season in Belfast, Keefe would win two Elite League titles with the Giants as a player but it is as coach that his legacy has been taken to another level. And on Sunday he will be honoured not just with the jersey retirement but with his testimonial game which features a plethora of friends and former team-mates, who will gather at the SSE Arena to celebrate a remarkable career in Belfast. Keefe's name will join a list of legends whose jerseys hang from the bridge already, the likes of Todd Kelman, Colin Shields and Graeme Walton already immortalised - and now the Giants' "heartbeat" joins them. Not just the team's coach, Keefe has now built his life in Northern Ireland having married wife Colleen, with the couple welcoming their daughter Cora in 2021.

Brad Shaw Swaps Philadelphia Flyers for Big Division Rival: Report

According to a report Wednesday, former Philadelphia Flyers interim head coach Brad Shaw has picked his next coaching destination in the NHL. And he's not going very far. Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Shaw, 61, has latched on with big Metropolitan Division rivals, the New Jersey Devils, replacing the recently fired Ryan McGill as part of Sheldon Keefe's coaching staff. Keefe, who played for fired former Flyers head coach John Tortorella during his time in Tampa Bay, also played for Shaw early in his playing career. Shaw was Keefe's head coach on the Detroit Vipers in the 2000-01 season, and later coached Keefe as an assistant on the AHL Springfield Falcons the following year in 2001-02. As someone who has played for and coached against Shaw, Keefe knows exactly what he's getting and what he wants from Shaw, and now it will be the Flyers' loss. Flyers GM Danny Briere had told reporters during Friday's Rick Tocchet press conference that Shaw was a finalist for the head coach position in Philadelphia and was considered until the final moments. Shaw, however, pulled out of the running to be an assistant on Tocchet's coaching staff, citing a lack of investment in the interview process. If and when Shaw's hiring is officially confirmed by the Devils, he'll join a New Jersey organization that already boasts defense talents with NHL seasoning like Simon Nemec and Seamus Casey. Plus, 2024 first-round pick Anton Silayev will be next to make the leap from that pipeline.
