Look: Chris Meloni to guest star on 'Law & Order: SVU' in Season 27
Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Chris Meloni is returning to Law & Order: SVU for a guest stint in Season 27. "Hangin with friends on a Friday nite @therealmariskahargitay @dannflorek," Meloni captioned Instagram photos of him with SVU veterans Hargitay and Florek this weekend. Meloni played New York Police Department Detective Elliot Stabler on SVU from 1999 to 2012, and has guest starred on the procedural several times since 2021. He also plays the character on his own series, Law & Order: Organized Crime, which recently wrapped its fourth season. Deadline said Kelli Giddish is returning to play Amanda Rollins full-time on SVU. Giddish was a series regular from 2011 to 2023, then guest starred on the show for the past two years. Law & Order: SVU: The #Rollisi Moments We Need to See in Season 27
The moment NBC confirmed that Kelli Giddish was coming back to Law & Order: SVU, we pulled our stuffed chipmunk out of storage and got to thinking: Could this mean we'll actually see some sweet, fun and/or important moments between Giddish and Peter Scanavino — aka Sgt. Amanda Rollins and Assistant District Attorney Dominick 'Sonny' Carisi Jr., aka #Rollisi — in the upcoming Season 27? More from TVLine Casting News: Brilliant Minds Adds 2, LEGO Masters Jr. Names Host and More The Yes, Chef! Season 1 Winner Is... Grosse Pointe Garden Society Cancelled at NBC After One Season We certainly hope so. Below, we've brainstormed a few types of scenes we hope to witness when the NBC procedural returns. (OK, OK, a few of them are Rollins or Carisi-related, but wither thou goest and all of that jazz.) Some of our picks are related to the characters' blended family as it grows. Some pertain to Sonny and Amanda while they're on the clock. And one involves a character we haven't seen in quite some time. Scroll down to see if our #Rollisi hopes match yours, then hit the comments with what you'd like to see happen for these two when returns this fall. Remember when Rollins and Carisi were partners? Let's revisit that magic by showing them working together at the NYPD. Is it realistic that Counselor Carisi spends more time at the precinct than he does at the District Attorney's office? Absolutely not. But if the silver-haired ADA is going to be around the station regardless, let's maximize the amount of time he and his cop wife spend together on the job. Speaking of which: Let's actually see Rollins doing more in her position as a sergeant in the Intelligence Division, cool? Now that Rollins is going to be on screen more, we'd like to see how Amanda and her daughters are interacting as Jesse and Billie grow up. (Hopefully she's a little more measured than Sonny was with that guy leering at Jesse last season.) And of course, we'd love more moments featuring the entire family together: How, exactly, are Carisi and Rollins faring as the harried parents of a toddler and two growing girls? Let's be real: Carisi was, for all intents and purposes, a father to Rollins' daughters even when he was just 'Uncle Sonny.' But we'd love to get a scene in Season 27 that shows him signing the paperwork to officially adopt Billie and Jesse as his legally recognized kids. Benson and Rollins are the closest things either of them have to female besties, so why not lean into that now that Amanda is around full-time? We're hoping for more chats like the one they had in Season 24 with the box o' wine in the motel room… minus the pervy front-desk guy. It's been far too long since we've seen and heard Serafina Carisi weigh in on her son's life. Maybe she shows up to babysit when Magda has to call out sick? Maybe she presides over a gigantic — and, we're sure, loud — family dinner? Or maybe she gives her chronically kitchen-challenged daughter-in-law a little private gravy lesson? We'll take anything Beverly D'Angelo is willing to show up for. OK, #Rollisi enthusiasts: What would you like to see happen for/to these two in Season 27? Hit the comments, and let us know! … give these two former partners some meaningful interactions, as well!
