Elizabeth Banks Reveals She Was a 'Chambermaid' at a Bed & Breakfast, Tasked with Pulling Condoms from Toilets

Elizabeth Banks appeared on the Wednesday, May 28, edition of The Kelly Clarkson Show Her appearance came ahead of the release of her Prime Video series The Better Sister on Thursday, May 29 During her time on the show, Banks discussed the jobs she had before actingBefore making it big in Hollywood, Elizabeth Banks had a wide assortment of jobs. While appearing on the Wednesday, May 28, edition of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Banks, 51, opened up about what she was doing before becoming an actress. "I started working really young. I've done everything. I was a waitress for a decade," she said. "I also was a chambermaid at a bed and breakfast." After host Kelly Clarkson asked if she worked at a castle since the term sounded "formal," Banks said that it meant that she "cleaned toilets." The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! "I just have some advice for people who stay in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, whatever," she said. "Please stop flushing things other than tepee down toilets." "Like the amount of condoms and tampons I had to dig out of toilets as a 17-year-old is shocking to me," said Banks, who agreed it helped her build character. "Kelly, I can go anywhere," said Banks. "It's not glamorous this life you lead. You end up going a lot of crazy places and I'm like, 'I've been worse.' " Banks shares two children with husband Max Handelman — Felix, 14, and Magnus, 12. The actress opened up to PEOPLE earlier this month about whether they would ever follow in her footsteps and go into acting. "If my kids decide to get into acting, which they have currently no interest in, then I would be thrilled to ever do anything with them if they would deign to hang out with me," Banks said. "It's unlikely. In fact, it would have to be a paying job for them to actually want to hang out with me." Her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show came ahead of the Thursday, May 29, premiere of her Prime Video series The Better Sister. The series features Banks and Jessica Biel as estranged sisters, Nicky (Banks) and Chloe (Biel). The sisters are brought back together after Chloe's husband, Adam (Corey Stoll), is brutally murdered, and his teenage son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan), who was raised by Chloe and Adam but is actually Nicky's son, is the prime suspect. ‘Stressed' Kelly Clarkson staffers fear show's sudden ‘collapse' as singer's uncertain TV future looms: report

Kelly Clarkson has reportedly made her eponymous talk show staffers fear for their jobs as rumors continue to swirl that she wants to quit her show. A producer on the 'Kelly Clarkson Show' talked to the Daily Mail on Monday about the general feeling of unease among staff members. 'Not feeling too stable,' the staffer alleged. 'She could bolt at any time. Where does that leave me?' The producer clarified that, although 'everyone loves Kelly' and is 'a wonderful person,' they would 'understand' if she wanted to leave because she's 'unhappy.' 'She should move on,' the source pointed out. The insider also addressed the possibility of 'Today' show alum Hoda Kotb taking over for the 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' singer. 'Maybe Hoda would be a better boss. I know she's universally beloved and respected by her former coworkers. Maybe she would be good. She sure would be a lot more stable than what we've been going through,' the producer said. 'If Hoda wants to do it, it could be win-win for everyone.' Reps for the show and Clarkson did not immediately return Page Six's request for comment. Back in March, Clarkson worried fans when she was absent from the show for over two weeks without any explanation. However, a source told TMZ at the time that the 'Since U Been Gone' singer, 43, was 'completely fine,' but had been 'dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her.' The undisclosed matter wasn't 'a cause for alarm.' In April, Page Six exclusively revealed she wanted to leave the show once her contract expires in 2026 to spend more time with daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remy, 8. 'Kelly's No. 1 priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It's a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South,' an industry insider told us, referencing her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. Before moving to NYC for her show, Clarkson lived in Encino, Calif., and Montana with her two kids and now-ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Additionally, it seems like her decision to stay or leave will be based on the success of her upcoming ninth album and Las Vegas residency, which are both set to debut this summer. Amid the 'American Idol' winner's desires to leave and the uncertainty of the show, we revealed that NBC executives were willing to do anything to make her stay. But it seems like they have given up as they started to build a list of possible replacements, including their very own Kotb. 'There's a long list of names and Hoda is part of that list,' a source told The Post earlier this month. 'NBC never wanted Hoda to leave. The question is, would Hoda want to do it?' Kotb, 60, took a step back from NBC when she quit the 'Today' show in January after 26 years with the network to focus on her daughters. The insider claimed that execs want to replace Clarkson with someone who already has a fanbase and a diverse background. 'Hoda ticks a lot of boxes. She's an Egyptian, older Kelly Clarkson,' the source said. The 'Kelly Clarkson Show' has earned 22 Daytime Emmys and an average of 1.2 million viewers per day in the 2024-2025 season.

Hoda Kotb FINALLY reveals if she will take over The Kelly Clarkson Show after Today departure

Amid speculation Kelly Clarkson intended on departing her talk show, Hoda Kotb emerged as a rumored contender to replace the American Idol alum. But now Hoda has set the record straight on the speculation. During an appearance on the Today show, Hoda confirmed she will not be taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show. Hoda, 60, who departed the Today show after nearly two decades in January, returned to the talk show on Wednesday where she was asked about the rumors by her former colleagues Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie. But Hoda pledged her allegiance to the Today show, insisting it is the only show she would appear on if she ever returned to TV. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Hoda Kotb confirmed she will not be taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show 'Do you think if I ever came back to TV - do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is? Right here. This is the spot!' she said. 'So rumors are done?' Craig asked. 'Delete, delete,' Hoda said. 'Not true.' 'I thought you were because I know you were playing your guitar and singing a lot lately and I thought that maybe you felt like, "I'm ready for some Hoda-oke!"' Savannah said, referencing Clarkson's talk show game Kellyoke. While Hoda isn't taking over the show, she will be appearing as a guest next week. 'I am going to be on Kelly's show next week though. Just for fun,' Hoda clarified. The confirmation comes amid speculation Kelly is considering quitting her talk show - and that Hoda is on a list of those eyed to replace her. 'There's a long list of names, and Hoda is part of that list,' an insider told Page Six back in May. 'Hoda ticks a lot of boxes. She's an Egyptian, older Kelly Clarkson,' the insider added. Koda has been keeping busy since departing the Today show earlier this year, and is now launching the wellness company Joy 101. The long-time anchor, who first joined Dateline NBC in 1998 before ultimately landing her role as co-anchor, announced her planned departure in September 2024 before officially exiting in January. Hoda, who was part of NBC News for 26 years, was immediately moved to tears as she announced her exit last year, explaining to her fellow co-hosts turning 60 had been a 'monumental moment' that made her decide it was time to 'try something new'. The TV icon also wrote a letter explaining her 'painful' decision to her colleagues, explaining further that marking her 60th birthday sparked a seismic 'shift' in her life. 'As I write this, my heart is all over the map,' Hoda said. 'I know I'm making the right decision, but it's a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I'm feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it's time for me to leave the show. 'My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life. But only because you've been beside me on this twenty-six-year adventure. Looking back, the math is nuts. 26 years at NBC News - Ten years at Dateline, seven on the seven o'clock hour, sixteen on the ten o'clock hour.' She continued: 'I'm picturing your faces and your families and all the ways you've lifted me up and inspired me. That's my heart singing. So many of my professional relationships have become some of my most cherished friendships.' She went on to pay a heart breaking tribute to her 'ride-or-die' Jenna Bush Hager and claimed she will 'desperately' miss everyone she has worked with on the popular morning show. 'Savannah: my rock,' she continued. 'Jenna: my ride-or-die. Al: my longest friend at 30 Rock. Craig, Carson, Sheinelle and Dylan: my family. Libby, Mazz and Talia: my fearless leaders. I will miss each and every one of you at TODAY desperately.'

File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo May 28 (UPI) -- Hoda Kotb says the rumors of her replacing Kelly Clarkson on the singer's talk show are "not true." Kotb, a television personality who left Today in January after 17 years as host, addressed the reports during her first return to Today on Wednesday. "If I ever came back to TV, do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is?" she said while speaking with former co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. "Right here. This is the spot. There's no place like home." Guthrie and Melvin then asked for confirmation that the rumors are "just rumors" and "not true." "Delete, delete. It's not true," Kotb responded. Reports surfaced earlier this month that Kotb would replace Clarkson as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, which premiered in 2019. Clarkson missed multiple episodes of her talk show in February and March, prompting Roy Wood Jr., Simu Liu, Today's Willie Geist and other stars to fill in as guest hosts. The Kelly Clarkson Show was renewed for Season 7 in December. Hoda Kotb's appearance on Kelly Clarkson's show sparks replacement rumors as singer looks for exit: report

Hoda Kotb 's upcoming appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show has ignited speculation about her potential as a replacement host on the daytime talk show. Kotb, the former Today show co-anchor who stepped down in January, recently taped an interview with Clarkson to promote her new wellness brand, set to launch in New York City on May 28, Page Six reports. While multiple sources confirmed to the outlet that Kotb's appearance was solely for promotional purposes, her presence on the show comes at a time when rumors are swirling of her possibly taking over as host. At the time of publication, Kotb is not listed as a guest this week on The Kelly Clarkson Show's website. Clarkson, who has hosted the daytime show since its debut in 2019, is reportedly considering leaving when her contract expires in 2026 to leave New York City and focus on her daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remy, 8, according to the outlet. Staff members have reportedly expressed concerns about job stability following Clarkson's recent two-week unexplained absence, which was later attributed to a personal matter, the Daily Mail reports. Neither NBC nor Clarkson's representatives have commented on the potential changes. The Independent has contacted representatives for NBC and Clarkson for comment. NBC executives are reportedly compiling a list of potential successors, with Kotb emerging as a leading candidate due to her extensive experience and popularity. Kotb also remains affiliated with NBC through correspondent roles. Clarkson relocated her show from LA to NYC in 2023 after her divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was finalized in June 2022. "I was very depressed for the last three years — and maybe a little before that, if I'm being honest. I think I really needed the change," Clarkson told PEOPLE at the time of the move. "I needed it for me and my family as well. My kids are thriving here. We're just doing so much better, and we needed a fresh start." The Kelly Clarkson Show airs weekdays on NBC.
