Taiwan's popular noodle chain Xiao Hun Mian opens first Singapore outlet at Raffles City, Lifestyle News

Singapore is a hot market for popular overseas F&B chains, seeing an influx of new openings recently such as the award-winning Keming Bing Sat and viral fried chicken restaurant Sides. Now, a new contender joins the mix as Taiwan's Xiao Hun Mian, also known as Spicy Noodles, opens at Raffles City today (June 3). The term xiao hun, which literally translates to 'selling one's soul', can also mean 'being overwhelmed with joy'. The handmade noodle chain apparently sees snaking queues of up to two hours in Taiwan — where they currently have 18 outlets, according to a press release. Here, diners can expect to indulge in their signature Xiao Hun Noodles (Soul-Stirring Noodles) — made with handmade noodles, Master Chilli Sauce, Master Chilli Oil, and Xiao Hun Noodle Sauce flown in directly from Taiwan. Prices start from $18.80 for the Spicy Mixed Meat and Vegetables and Xiao Hun Noodles set. The menu also includes other variations of the signature dish, such as the Spicy Beef Soup with Beef Tendon and Sliced US Beef and Xiao Hun Noodles set ($24.80) and Spicy Beef Soup with Sliced US Beef, Spongy Tofu and Soy Chip and Xiao Hun Noodles set ($23.80). For those who prefer something lighter, there's also less-spicy options like the Mild Beef Soup with Sliced US Beef and Xiao Hun Noodles set ($20.80). Each bowl of noodles is paired with beef soup made from pure beef bone and simmered for at least six hours with a side of Braised Tofu Pouch and topped with a soft boiled egg. For sides, there's small bites like Fried Bread Sticks ($4.50), Spicy Golden Fish Balls ($4) and Blanched Vegetables ($4). The new Singapore outpost has a similar aesthetic to the chain's Taiwan restaurants — featuring a minimalistic design and muted and earth-tone colours. Address: 252 North Bridge Road, Raffles City Shopping Centre, #B1-38, Singapore 179103 Opening hours: 11am to 10pm (daily) [[nid:716027]]

China's no. 1 char siew rice & O.G. viral HK teddy bear iced tea arrive in SG

Have you ever wondered who invented the iconic teddy bear iced tea that's stolen the hearts of so many ever since its debut in 2019? It's Keming Bing Sat, an award-winning eatery with 140 outlets in Hong Kong and China, which will open its first Singapore outpost on 22 May at Plaza Singapura! 'Yesterday's Hong Kong, Today's Shenzhen' is how Keming Bing Sat describes its concept. Taking inspiration from traditional Hong Kong (tea restaurants) and combining them with creative new ideas to appeal to today's youth, it has been met with tremendous support from customers all over China and Hong Kong. The chain has racked up a commendable collection of achievements, including Dianping's Must-Eat List 2022 and TikTok's Favourite Restaurant 2021. The most memorable and contributing much to the brand's name is their award for the No. 1 Best Selling Rice in China from 2024 to 2025; they sold over 3.3 billion portions of the dish in a single year. Keming Bing Sat's famous signature Rice (S$10.90) didn't earn the title for nothing. It's the creation of a Hong Kong chef who has mastered the techniques of making the best roast meat over 40 years. The juicy and perfectly charred char siew is served on a bed of Wuchang rice and paired with 2 fried eggs and a secret sauce made of over 23 ingredients. The oh-so-aesthetic Ice Bear Drink Series is a must-get to pair with your Keming Bing Sat mains (and also for the cutest Instagram photos). These beverages, which include the Signature Iced Lemon Tea (S$4.90), come topped with an adorable ice bear. Options for soda lovers include the Pink Bear Soda (S$5.90) and Dreamy Blue Bear Soda (S$5.90), though I myself prefer the Little Bear Iced Hong Kong Milk Tea (S$4.90) as it's perfectly gao! If char siew isn't your fancy, Keming Bing Sat's Thai Style Curry Beef Brisket Rice (S$13.90) or noodle dishes like Stephen Chow's Favourite Noodles (S$10.90) might be. A classic Hong Kong comfort food, the instant noodles are topped with brisket, a chicken wing and luncheon meat, and radiate the warmth of home. Don't miss the Western-style dishes like the Thick-cut Sirloin Steak (S$19.90), either. Tomatoey pasta paired with salad and a tender grilled sirloin steak with old-school black pepper sauce— what's not to love? End your meal at Keming Bing Sat with its desserts, which are just as picture-worthy as the drinks and mains. The Happiness Lava Egg Waffles cost S$3.80 for 2 pieces or S$6.90 for 4. They're fluffy, egg-shaped waffles with tiny faces encasing melty cream cheese for a combination of sweet and savoury, The Lava Ovaltine Toast (S$7.90) is sweet, chocolatey and creamy – the restaurant's best dessert in my opinion! It consists of crispy French toast soaked in condensed milk and flowy cream for a rich, milky flavour and scattered with Oreo crumbs for a light cocoa crunch. Are you ready for an incredible Hong Kong culinary experience with good food and beautiful photo ops? Get ready to visit Keming Bing Sat when it opens to the public on 22 May! Award-winning Hong Kong cha chaan teng Keming Bing Sat to make Singapore debut in late May, Lifestyle News

If you love dining at cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes), you'll be pleased to know that the famous Keming Bing Sat will be landing in Singapore soon. Set to open at Plaza Singapura in late May, this will be the chain's first outlet in Singapore. Since their launch in Hong Kong in 2019, Keming Bing Sat has garnered massive popularity and currently has 140 outlets across Hong Kong and Mainland China. They've also won several accolades — with their roast meats being recognised by the China Dining Industry Association as a Traditional Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Dish. Frost & Sullivan, a market research company, also named the chain's char siew rice as the 'No.1 Best-Selling Char Siew Rice' in China based on sales from April 2024 to March 2025. According to a press release, it boasted a sales volume of over 3.3 million portions sold in China over a single year. Some dishes that diners can expect at the new Singapore outlet include the award-winning signature Char Siew Rice — touted to be crafted by "a Hong Kong roast meat master with 40 years of experience". The dish includes caramelised char siew, two soft-fried eggs and Wuchang rice (said to be a premium variety of japonica rice), complete with a secret sauce made in-house with 23 ingredients. To go with your meal, there are also beverages like the Little Bear Iced Lemon Tea and Little Bear Iced Hong Kong Milk Tea — featuring a frozen 'little bear' sitting atop the drinks — both of which went viral online in 2019, according to the press release. For dessert, diners can indulge in sweet treats such as the Lava Oreo Toast or Happiness Lava Egg Waffles — inspired by the traditional Hong Kong eggette. According to the brand, the restaurant's offerings are reflective of their concept of "Yesterday's Hong Kong, Today's Shenzhen" — honouring traditions while remaining innovative. [[nid:700296]]
