Second-degree murder charged laid in weekend stabbing
Waterfront Drive is pictured on May 5, 2025. (Jamie Dowsett/CTV News Winnipeg) Police have charged a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Winnipeg man last weekend. Police say they found the 24-year-old suspect Monday near McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue. Wyatt Darius Prince was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree murder. He was detained in custody. The charge has not been tested in court. The arrest stems from an assault Sunday. Police were called to the 500 block of Waterfront Drive at around 1:45 a.m. for a report of a stabbing. They arrived on scene to find a man who appeared to have been assaulted. Police performed emergency medical care, applying chest seals before paramedics arrived. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died. Police identified the man as Kerry Eastman, 44. He was a member of Sandy Bay First Nation but was living in Winnipeg.

Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in stabbing in Winnipeg's Point Douglas
A 24-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kerry Eastman in Winnipeg's South Point Douglas neighbourhood. Eastman, 43, was found critically injured on Waterfront Drive, between Higgins and George avenues, just before 2 a.m. Sunday. He was suffering from stab wounds and rushed to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Wyatt Darius Prince, 24, was arrested on Monday in the area of McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue in the city's North End. Eastman was a member of Sandy Bay First Nation living in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg cops investigating Waterfront Drive homicide
Winnipeg police say they're investigating a fatal stabbing that took place early Sunday morning on Waterfront Drive. Officers were called to the scene at 1:48 a.m., where they found the victim — who has been identified as 43-year-old Kerry Eastman, a member of Sandy Bay First Nation who was living in Winnipeg — with serious injuries.
