'Two top-half finishes in four seasons is incredible'
Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We were closer to edging it. It was a bit of a game of two halves. In the first half we were better."In the second half I thought Wolves had a few dangerous moments. It was a little bit of a disappointing goal to concede, but that happens. We probably should have made it 2-0 in the first half, but we didn't."On Bryan Mbeumo: "I think it's fantastic for all three [Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade too]. It's a big compliment to the three of them, but also to the team. For Bryan to finish on 20 goals is incredible."On Brentford's season: "To produce two top-half finishes in four seasons is incredible. There's a lot of clubs that I admire that haven't done that in many years. We've done a lot of things well."On the future of Mbeumo and Wissa: "I've said many times before, we're a selling club. If the right bid comes in, we're open, but of course I'd like to keep [my players]."

Wolves 1-1 Brentford: Bees miss out on Europe after another fine season
They may have missed out on European football, but Brentford can still look back on the 2024-25 campaign with enormous Bees collected 23 points from their 10 away league matches in 2025, which was comfortably the best record in the division since the turn of the Bournemouth's better goal difference denied them ninth place - which would have matched their Premier League record from the 2022-23 campaign - while their tally of 66 goals was their most in a top-flight season since of those goals came from Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade, with the Cameroonian becoming only the club's second player after Ivan Toney to reach 20 Premier League goals in a Bees wasted good first-half chances as Wolves keeper Jose Sa denied Wissa in a one-against-one opportunity, while Keane Lewis-Potter sent a looping effort on to the roof of the net from a similar also tested Sa twice in the second half, but Marshall Munetsi's effort denied them a first league double over Wolves since the 2015-16 Championship campaign.

Ipswich 0-1 Brentford - the fans' verdict
We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Ipswich and are some of your comments:Ipswich fansRobert: Once again a poor loss. It sums up the season. Another defeat due to lack of quality, fight and commitment across the park. You cannot hide from the fact that we are not good enough. We need to focus in the close season on attracting quality players with a desire to win the Championship and give a good account of ourselves when back in the Premier Story of our season. Plenty of endeavour but lacking in quality. Same old formation and tactics mean we are too easy to play against. Kieran McKenna needs to broaden his horizons and be more Only four wins all season and conceding 77 goals. To say the season has been disappointing is an understatement. The fans deserve better. I hate to say this about my team but we have been outclassed all season and the players have not been good enough or up to the challenge. We need to rebuild a team who can return us back to the Premier League. I'm sure the manager (if he stays) will be planning for the future even The game was tainted by the refereeing decisions. I think Ipswich played well, in particular Julio Enciso and Omari Hutchinson. A draw would have been a fair fansVince: Four wins in a row with Kevin Schade on fire! Could the Bees be heading for Europe? Best wishes to Ipswich - great day out and hope they bounce back!Mel: Lucky to get the points as Ipswich should have won this. We were very exposed in the left-back position in the second half, which let them run riot. On the positive side, we maintained eighth place and the European dream is still alive, just! All the best for next season, Tractor Cheers ref! You were so biased towards us it was embarrassing! Good first half by us but Ipswich clearly the better team in the second half!Mitch: Brentford dominated the match up to the 70 minutes when Matthias Jensen came on. Tactically it drew Ipswich up the field and we were lucky to come away with the win. But, in every season you need some luck.

Brentford star Christian Norgaard confident his side 'create something magic' at the end of the season with Europa Conference League qualification still a possibility
Christian Norgaard is confident Brentford can conjure up 'something magic' at the end of the season. The Bees moved up to eighth thanks to Kevin Schade's 18th-minute goal and that might - but only might - be enough to qualify for a Europa Conference League spot come Sunday May 25. 'It's so fun to have something to play for at this stage in the season,' said captain Norgaard, the Denmark midfielder. 'There are a lot of teams who don't so it's amazing we can create these special moments and these 'finals' coming into the last part of the season - and hopefully by the end of it we have created something magic.' The dream could be all but over before then however as that eighth-place slot will disappear should Crystal Palace win the FA Cup on Saturday. Thomas Frank 's side are certainly the form side in a four-way tussle for eighth, with Brighton, Bournemouth and Sunday's opponents Fulham still in the mix. Schade's header from a corner that had to be taken three times earned a fourth straight victory, which is their best run of victories in the top flight since 1939. It was also their seventh away win in the last nine - a huge upgrade on early-season form that saw them lose seven out of eight. 'We have really found good form away specially this second part of the season, which we struggled with at the start of the season,' Norgaard added. Ipswich fans were annoyed that Schade's goal came at a time when referee Sam Barrott appeared to have lost control at a set-piece where players from both sides repeatedly wrestled each other in the box. That continued throughout the game, with VAR making lengthy checks, but already-relegated Town made a game of it late on, forcing Bees keeper Mark Flekken into a string of saves.

Southampton avoid dubious record, Brentford keep Europe hopes alive
Southampton gave their long-suffering fans something to cheer about with a surprise 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Saturday that saw the rock bottom team avoid tying Derby County as the worst Premier League side in history. Pep Guardiola's City remained third in the table on 65 points with two games remaining in their bid for Champions League qualification. Newcastle United and Chelsea, who meet on Sunday, are only two points behind. Nottingham Forest, who also have a game in hand, trail by four. Aston Villa breathed life into their Champions League hopes with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth that lifted them to sixth, and just two points behind Manchester City, as the contest for a top-five finish remains wide open. Brentford's pursuit of a first-ever European qualification gained strength with their 1-0 victory over already-relegated Ipswich Town, while Brighton & Hove Albion claimed a 2-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers to keep them within touching distance of playing in Europe next season. Fulham's hopes of European football next season are fading fast, however, after they slipped to a fourth league defeat in five games with a 3-1 loss to Everton. Already-relegated Southampton had looked likely to equal Derby County's season-low tally of 11 points in 2007-08, but the draw moved them to 12 as their fans at a sun-drenched St Mary's Stadium sung loudly in celebration. Manchester City thoroughly dominated with 26 shots to the home side's two, but Southampton defended in numbers, particularly in the dying minutes, to deny them. Bournemouth, who could have moved up to eighth, remain in 10th spot with their outside challenge for Europe running out of steam. At Portman Road, Brentford won their fourth in a row on a first-half header by Kevin Schade to leave them eighth in the table with 55 points, while Ipswich are 18th. Schade scored in the 18th minute when he met Bryan Mbeumo's corner and steered the ball into the far corner. At Wolverhampton, goals from Danny Welbeck and substitute Brajan Gruda saw Brighton move up one place to ninth, level on 55 points with Brentford. Wolves fell to 14th. Should Manchester City defeat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final this month, an eighth-place league finish would secure qualification for the Conference League. Fulham's loss at Craven Cottage saw them remain 11th in the table with 51 points from 36 games, four points adrift of eighth place, while Everton climbed one spot to 13th. Raul Jimenez gave Fulham a deserved lead in the first half with a powerful header before Vitaliy Mykolenko's deflected shot from the edge of the box levelled the score on the stroke of halftime. Two goals in three minutes from Michael Keane and Beto, who profited from an error by goalkeeper Bernd Leno, turned the game in Everton's favour in the second half and dealt their host's European dreams a heavy blow.
