'Mayele will score against Sundowns' – Khanye makes CAF CL final prediction

Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Junior Khanye has predicted Mamelodi Sundowns to lose the CAF Champions League final to Pyramids on Sunday. The two teams play in the second leg of the final on Sunday evening after the first leg ended 0-0 in Pretoria last weekend. Masandawana need to win or force a scoring draw to win their first CAF CL title in nine years. This is the third time the Brazilians have managed to reach the final of the competition. Speaking on iDiski TV, Khanye felt Sundowns were less confident going into the final 'Sundowns were supposed to win here (at home), so going away is not going to be easy. As I said when the Champions League started, Sundowns will never win it. They have quality players and they are a quality team but going to the game, they don't have the confidence to win away,' he said. 'Personally, I don't think they will trouble Pyramids. They will have their moment, but their coach…' The former winger said the match will likely finish 0-0 after extra time or end with Pyramids winning. 'I see the game finishing 0-0 or it will end 2-1. Sundowns will probably score but won't win the game. Mayele is going to score tomorrow, he will score the winning goal.' ‘Sundowns can bring back Rulani Mokwena'

Mamelodi Sundowns have marked a powerful impression on the legendary Junior Khanye. According to the ever-outspoken Khanye, Kabo Yellow, who lifted a record eighth league title in a row last weekend, can go on to win 12 titles on the bounce. 'For me, I guarantee 12 you can even write it down I guarantee 12 titles,' said Khanye via iDiski Times . Should the current Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso fail to deliver on his targets, Khanye believes Sundowns could easily re-appoint the great Rulani Mokwena. 'It's not easy to break the structure also because of the length of Miguel Cardoso's contract; I think it's three years, if I'm not mistaken. I can assure you that Rulani Mokoena, if he doesn't go to another team, he'll come back because I don't think they'll bring somebody who doesn't understand the club; that person won't last,' Khanye added. 'They don't have time [to waste] they've invested a lot in football. They won't wait for a coach to be escorted by a truck from the pitch. They only bring someone who adds value. They will give you games to prove yourself. 'Also, credit to the Director for bringing in former players that have done well in their careers the likes of Teko Modise, Tiyani Mabunda, Hlompho Kekana even Katlego Mahoota [Mashego] is also visible there and the list goes on. 'Their development is also strong and by development I'm referring to their U18 side that won the Engen Cup two years ago. If you see those players, you'll be shocked so yes, I'm saying 12 years because of their solid structure. 'It won't be easy for someone to break that structure at Sundowns. If Cardoso doesn't win the Champions League maybe they'll release him and bring someone else who will be released if he doesn't well in five games. They do the right things and get themselves in the right spaces,' the former Kaizer Chiefs winger concluded. Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star identifies new captain for Orlando Pirates

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes young defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi can lead Orlando Pirates in the future. The 19-year-old centre-back has been sensational at the back since making his debut for the Buccaneers earlier this year. Mbokazi has shown maturity in big games, especially in the CAF Champions League, where Pirates reached the semi-final. Speaking on iDiski TV , the retired footballer had what it took to lead Orlando Pirates. 'He's a future captain of Pirates, this boy Mbokazi,' Khanye said . 'He has leadership skills, and you know how sometimes they say you are born for something; he was a born to be a leader. Some of the things he does do not need coaching. The boy gets in the midfield with the ball, just driving for about 30m with the ball on his feet. His ball control, how he's able to protect it and force a foul or even delaying until his teammates get into the Golden Arrows half and then hit a decisive pass. Khanye praised Mbokazi's qualities while pointing out mistakes from Orlando Pirates captain Tapelo Xoki. 'Well done to the boy. Like I said he has leadership skills and if you can look at this boy even at the back he is helping [Tapelo] Xoki a lot. So many mistakes from Xoki for me and always being late. I know he's a senior player but the boy his quality, he is strong on his feet, his awareness, anticipation a lot of things and how he communicates, well done to the boy.' Orlando Pirates have had an average season, winning only the MTN8. The club are in search of a new coach, having parted ways with Jose Riveiro last week. Junior Khanye eat humble pie after Kaizer Chiefs claims Nedbank Cup

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has praised his former team following Amakhosi's 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. Goals from Gaston Sirino and Yusuf Maart ended Chiefs' 10-year trophy drought. Khanye, who had predicted that Amakhosi would lose, faced criticism from Kaizer Chiefs fans on Friday. The 38-year-old analyst has been critical of his former club for years, often questioning their decisions regarding coaching hires. 'You can't win ugly, especially in three finals, and say your game plan works; it didn't work,' he stated. 'Chiefs didn't play well, but they were energetic and showed character. I think this game meant a lot to the Kaizer Chiefs players. They didn't play good football, but what won them the game was their character.' Khanye acknowledged the contributions from the coaching staff: 'I need to give credit to Nabi for reading the game and bringing in Mdu Shabalala. Well done to the boy; this is what we want to see from him. He came in and changed the complexion of the game by running behind the Orlando Pirates defense.' Although Khanye praised Kaizer Chiefs for their win, he felt Nasreddine Nabi was not the perfect coach to lead the club going forward. Junior Khanye gives the final to Orlando Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs face Orlando Pirates in another Soweto derby this afternoon. This time, it's the Nedbank Cup final. The two Soweto giants each have motivations to mark history. Kaizer Chiefs have a chance to win their first title in 10 years. Orlando Pirates could become the first club to win three Nedbank Cup on the bounce. 'It's not going to be an easy derby. Chiefs will play mind games, I don't think they will be open so much like last week. Last week they wanted to compete, I could see it early how they started,' Khanye said to iDiski Times . 'They surprised everybody by wanting to compete with Orlando Pirates and they got the early goal. It worked. 'But tomorrow, I believe it's going to be different story for me. Because it's going to be a difficult because Chiefs will very cautious and wanting to catch Orlando Pirates with transition football. 'And Orlando Pirates obviously come from the win over Chiefs on the weekend, the same opponent, and the coach has got better players compared to Chiefs' players. Yes, Chiefs can try so hard, but the players at Pirates are better. 'The coach has got players that can win the game for him, and I compliment him for the response last week. It didn't start well for his team, I think they allowed Chiefs the space to build up. They scored the early goal, but I don't think he will allow that tomorrow to happen. 'So just to answer you, very quickly, I see Pirates winning 3-1,' the former Kaizer Chiefs winger added. Kick off will be at 15:30 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
