Late Kim Sae-ron's family lodges complaint against Kim Soo-hyun over child welfare violations

The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron on Wednesday filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against actor Kim Soo-hyun, accusing him of violating the Child Welfare Act and making false accusations. Bu Ji-seok, the family's legal representative, discussed this latest legal action during a press conference in Seoul earlier in the day, reiterating the late actress's previous claims that she had been romantically involved with the actor starting when she was in her second year of middle school. Kim Soo-hyun has strongly denied this claim. At the conference, a recording was played of what the family claimed was a conversation between the late actress and an acquaintance. In the recording, the acquaintance's voice was revoiced by another person to protect his privacy. The recording was presented as evidence to corroborate her claims that she dated the actor for six years and that their relationship ended after she went to university. After the conference, Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, strongly disputed the authenticity of the file, saying it was "completely fabricated." It further alleged that it "appeared to have been created using artificial intelligence." The agency warned it would take legal action for defamation, asserting that this was an attempt to damage the actor's reputation "based on forged evidence." This latest legal action from the family came after Kim Soo-hyun himself took legal steps. Late last month, the actor filed a second stalking lawsuit against Kim Se-ui, operator of the YouTube channel Hoverlab that first raised the underage dating allegations. This was in addition to an initial stalking lawsuit he had filed against Kim on April 2. Previously, the actor had also filed legal complaints against the YouTuber and the actress's family for releasing a photo of him without trousers and threatening him. He is also seeking 12 billion won ($8.14 million) in damages in relation to those complaints. (Yonhap)

Kim Sae-Ron's Family Files Lawsuit Against Kim Soo-Hyun For Child Abuse, Perjury

Last Updated: Kim Sae-ron's family released an audio recording as evidence that Kim Soo-hyun was involved with Sae-ron while she was a minor. Kim Soo-hyun is in the spotlight for allegedly dating late actress Kim Sae-ron. The controversy started when Sae-ron's family accused Soo-hyun for dating their daughter while she was still a minor. However, the Queen of Tears star has often denied these claims. On May 7, Kim Sae-ron's family held a press conference about a 'serious crime" involving the actor. The family's legal representative, attorney Bu Ji Seok, stated that there was evidence supporting the claim that Kim Soo-hyun was involved with Kim Sae-ron while she was underage. He also added that the family has filed a lawsuit against Kim Soo-hyun for violating the Child Welfare Act and false accusation (perjury). During the event, Bu Ji Seok shared an audio recording previously released by the Garo Sero Institute. The recording allegedly Kim Sae-ron's talking about her past relationship with Kim Soo-hyun. According to the recording, the actor began a physical relationship with Kim Sae-ron while she was in middle school. She also mentioned disturbing behaviour by the actor while they were involved, including passing inappropriate comments and sending her explicit photos. Before the conference, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Goldmedalist, had claimed that they are worried about the event. The agency requested the media to check the facts with them first before reporting anything. As per Sports World, the agency stated, 'Following their previous press conference, we have serious concerns about the continued spread of false information related to Kim Soo Hyun. We sincerely ask that when they attempt to report on unverified, one-sided claims, that they first try to fact-check with us to prevent the spread and reproduction of false information that could result in unfair damages to the related parties." For several months, Kim Soo-hyun had not commented about the controversy. However, in March, he held a press conference where he confirmed that he and the late Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship, but made it clear that it only started after she became an adult. Kim Soo-hyun also explained that he heard about claims from a YouTube channel linked to Kim Sae-ron's family, who blamed the actor for her suffering. However, Soo-hyun shared that, as far as he knew, Sae-ron was actually in a relationship with someone else before she passed away. Because of this, he felt it was even harder for him to know how to respond or contact her. He said that both of them had already separated. First Published:

Kim, who made her debut as a child star, rose to fame starring opposite actor Won Bin in the hit thriller film The Man From Nowhere (2010). Her death stirred controversy in her home country, especially after rumours surfaced that Queen Of Tears (2024) leading man Kim Soo-hyun, 37, had begun a relationship with he r when she was a minor. Kim admitted that he had dated the actress , but did so only from 2019 to 2020, after she became a legal adult.
