Gloucester's Kings Theatre to be 'state-of-the-art' for relaunch
The last theatre standing in a city centre will look "state-of-the-art" by the end of the month as its reopening date approaches, the chair of its board of trustees Kings Theatre in Kings Barton Street, Gloucester, closed in February after an audit exposed safety risks, with extensive repairs was hoped the theatre would be able to reopen in May but, as the revised opening date of 30 August nears, chair of the board of trustees Andrew Taylor said the refurbishments and repairs had included a larger bar area and a "vibrant" paint job of the theatre's Tash Frootko, who has helped to paint the exterior, said she was "really excited for how it's going to look". She added she hoped it would "hopefully, put it back on the map". Mr Taylor said of the renovations: "It's chaotic at the moment, we're still amongst paint cans and off-cuts of wood but I don't think I've ever been to a job site that's clean."He said there was a "new coffee bar bistro area", which had been fashioned out of the former walkway into the bar, extending it to serve "lots and lots of people".Before the reopening of the theatre, Mr Taylor said he hoped "to finish wallpapering" and "for people to walk in on our launch day and go, 'wow, what an incredible space'.""I can see how it will look in my head, you probably look at this and think, 'what an absolutely chaotic dump' but to me, this will look like a state-of-the-art theatre," he said. Mr Taylor added: "Outside is going to be nothing short of vibrant, we have been incredibly blessed to collaborate with Tash Frootko who is just a visionary of colour."Ms Frootko explained she had made space in her diary especially for the Kings Theatre."It's a dream for an artist to come and paint a theatre," she added."People are really happy to see this theatre saved and the local community are really excited to see it coming back."

Billy Idol Unfazed By The Surfacing Of A Secret Son As He Had 'Sex With A Million People'
Billy Idol has revealed why he wasn't shocked when he found out he had a secret son. A few years ago, the musician discovered that he had fathered a third child. According to the 69-year-old, the discovery didn't shock him because he had a lot of sex with a lot of people around the time his secret son, Brant, was born. Billy Idol also admitted that many of his colleagues in the rock world have likely fathered children outside of their usual relationships. Speaking with iNews, Billy Idol opened up about his reaction to discovering that he had fathered a son he wasn't aware of. He was only "a little bit" surprised when he found out about the secret child, who was born while the singer was on the Rebel Yell tour back in the '80s in New York. "The more I thought about it, I guessed there must be something like that," he told the outlet about learning of his third child, Brant Broad. "Because we were going around in the '80s and '70s, just having knockdown, drag-out sex with a million people you didn't know," he added. Reflecting further, Idol, who also shares son Willem Wolfe Broad, 37, with ex Perri Lister, and daughter Bonnie Blue Broad, 35, with ex Linda Mathis, admitted that his situation wasn't unusual. "A lot of people in the rock world have children beyond their usual relationships," he said. Idol learned about his third child after his daughter, Bonnie, took a 23andMe DNA test, which provides personalized reports on ancestry, genetic traits, and potential health conditions. Although it is unclear when they first met, the singer was publicly spotted with Brant in January 2023, during his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony. In September that year, Idol then addressed Brant as his son for the first time in public when he shared photos of himself with Brant and his grandchildren, who had attended his show at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. "Had a lovely visit from my granddaughter McKenzie backstage at the Kings Theatre yesterday… also with my son @brant_northridge_broad … also McKenzie started school recently-BFI," he captioned the Instagram snaps. Despite his promiscuous past, Idol doesn't expect to have another secret child pop up. He told iNews that he feels certain this is the case because he thinks, "we would know about them now if there were." As for his relationship with Brant, Idol revealed that they share more than a father-son bond. "We're quite good friends, and I love him. He's a nice guy," the musician told the outlet about Brant after mentioning that he works in construction. Idol also shared that he feels more "set up" to take up all of the responsibility that comes with being a grandfather and father, now that he is in "a better place" in his life. "In lots of ways, I've done everything I wanted, at least to my own satisfaction," the rocker stated. Idol continued, "And now I'm not a drug addict, I can really be there for them." More about Idol and Brant's relationship is discussed in the singer's documentary, "Billy Idol: Should Be Dead," which premiered earlier this month. Other bombshells were also shared in the project, including how the punk rock legend nearly died from a heroin overdose in 1984. Speaking in the documentary about the incident, Idol recalled hanging out in London with some of his friends who had "some of the strongest heroin." "Everybody did a line or so, and they all nodded out, except for me and this mate of mine. We kind of went, 'Well, that's funny.' So we did a few more lines," the singer shared, per the New York Post. However, his decision to have more almost turned tragic, but his friends intervened just in time. "I was basically dying. I was turning blue," Idol recalled. "So they put me in an ice-cold bath, and I remember them walking me around on the top of the building, you know, on the roof."

Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. While her live shows may be arresting, Reneé's 'Rapp' sheet won't be sending her to jail anytime soon. In fact, she'll be on the road. The 'Mean Girls' Broadway and film star — she's portrayed Regina George both onstage and onscreen — just announced her 2025 'Bite Me Tour' in support of her forthcoming sophomore album with the same name that's due out Aug. 1. Advertisement 'See you thereeee,' the 25-year-old shared via Instagram. As of now, she has 17 shows at arenas, auditoriums, theaters, pavilions and amphitheaters all over North America this September and October with special guests Syd and Ravyn Lenae (who's also on a tour of her own). That includes a huge concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Monday, Sept. 29. This is quite a step up for the 'Sex Lives Of College Girls' actress; on her 2023 'Snow Hard Feelings Tour,' she headlined at two shows at NYC's much smaller Terminal 5, another at Brooklyn's regal Kings Theatre and a fourth at the sprawling general admission Avant Gardner. Advertisement On top of the tour, Rapp is also lending her talents to the first Toronto edition of the multi-city All Things Go Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4. Other notable artists on the lineup include Kacey Musgraves, Remi Wolf, Role Model, Noah Cyrus and Chelsea Cutler among others. Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming Reneé Rapp shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'Bite Me Tour' is Friday, June 27. Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. 'Leave Me Alone' is a brash piece of bubblegum pop that we'd categorize as equal parts naughty, angsty and sugary sweet. Truth be told, we wouldn't mind if the chilled-out refrain 'Leave me alone, b—-, I wanna have fun' became the line of the summer. To hear for yourself, you can find 'Leave Me Alone' here. X Factor favourite Nicholas McDonald looking forward to returning to Lanarkshire stage
The 28-year-old will be playing Airdrie Town Hall on Saturday, June 28 There's no place like home for former X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald who is looking forward to performing in Lanarkshire again. Nicholas shot to fame after finishing runner-up to Sam Bailey in series 10 of the competition in 2013. Brought up in Wishaw, the 28-year-old still lives in North Lanarkshire but spends much of his time all over Britain and Europe, amassing over a hundred live performances each year. He is now bringing his full-band show to Airdrie Town Hall later this month, his first and possibly only performance in Lanarkshire this year. Nicholas played Hamilton Town Hall last year, he followed that up by appearing at NHS Lanarkshire Awards ceremony in October last year and dedicated the performance to staff who cared for him. He suffered a cardiac arrest while playing football in East Kilbride at 10 years old and following tests was diagnosed with Long QT syndrome. 'The one at Hamilton last year was such a success that we thought we'd do Airdrie this time. I have played there before during a charity show years ago. 'I never get to do many local shows so it's nice to be back in the area. It won't be the same show as last year and I will be playing some original music as well as the favourites. 'I actually have family coming over from Florida for the show as well. I'm really looking forward to it. 'I'm just back from Egypt where I was doing some shows there and I'm really busy for the rest of the year. 'I'm very lucky in that I do around 120 shows a year, and 12 years down the line [from The X Factor] I get to call it my full-time job. 'I'm thankful and grateful that people spend their hard-earned money to come out and see me, especially now with the cost-of-living crisis, and that doesn't go unrecognised. I really appreciate every single person who buys a ticket and comes along after all these years. "It's a dream to call this my job and I absolutely love it. I do the show production myself, I haven't any management or special PR team doing it for me.' Nicholas still keeps in touch with X Factor winner Sam Bailey, the two forged a great friendship while on the show. 'I met up with Sam a few months ago when she was part of a musical at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow. We hope we can do something together at some point but it's finding dates that suit both our schedules. I think it would be a first because I don't think an X Factor winner and runner-up have actually done their own show together.' Tickets for Nicholas Airdrie show are priced from £26 from: or by calling the Box Office on 01698 274545. VIP tickets are also available which include a meet and greet with Nicholas before the show, a professional photo, front row seats, a signed poster, and a souvenir VIP lanyard. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Kings Theatre's £5m revamp plans submitted to Portsmouth council
Plans to regenerate Portsmouth's Kings Theatre have been submitted, featuring a new cafe and bar, along with a new rehearsal Kings Theatre Trust submitted proposals to Portsmouth City Council, which include restoring the venue's Albert Road-facing faç project, known as Elevation 1907, aims to revitalise 24–28 Albert Road into a fully accessible entrance foyer, bar and rehearsal space "seamlessly connected to the Grade II* listed theatre".The council said the "positive" scheme would retain and adapt a "very important heritage asset in the city". The proposals aim to resolve existing operational challenges at the 1,400-seat theatre, including poor accessibility for people with disabilities, a lack of a public-facing social space, limited educational and learning areas, and insufficient toilet new facilities would include a fully accessible entrance and foyer from Albert Road for the first time in the theatre's history. A customer lift would provide access to all levels from the ground plans follow extensive consultation with the public and Historic England, who are "wholly supportive" of the proposals. Ryan Stock of Pritchard Architecture said the project would transform a long-derelict terrace into a "vibrant civic asset", describing Elevation 1907 as "more than bricks and mortar".Once approved, the £5m work is expected to start later this year and take about 15 months. It would have a minimal impact on performances and would be funded through ticket levies, council support and future fundraising.
