NFL Top 100 show to switch to X from broadcast: Know details and reasons

The NFL Top 100 Series, a curated show that reveals the top 100 NFL players, each chosen by their fellow peers, will now be available to stream on the social media platform X instead of regular broadcasting. The announcement was made by X Originals in a social media post captioned, 'The NFL and X announced today the launch of NFL Top 100, a digitally reimagined version of the NFL Films countdown franchise, premiering Monday, June 30 as a first-of-its-kind X Originals series.' Starting June 30, the NFL Top 100 Series will stream on X, featuring a digital-first format.(X Originals) ALSO READ| Who is Kirk Barton? Former Ohio State star and NFL player charged in fatal crash The recent switch in streaming strategy is largely attributed to delivering content where a substantial user base already exists. 'For 14 seasons, NFL Top 100 has delivered the ultimate peer-ranked countdown in sports,' said Ross Ketover, NFL Films senior executive, in the official statement. 'This year, we're bringing it to where fans already are — on X — with a fast-paced format that honors the original series.' The post further reveals that NFL-affiliated accounts already command over 50 million followers on the platform where 1 million authors attracted 6 million posts in the 2025 season. Hence, the shift aims to 'thrive and fuel year-round conversation' in a medium where the necessary discourse already exists. 'Delivering original content experiences with world-class partners, especially around sports, is a top priority for X,' said Mitchell Smith, Head of Original Content at X, in his statement. 'We are excited to work with the NFL and NFL Films to launch our first original series together, and reinvent a classic for a digital-first audience.' This pattern will continue till August 29 and the final Top 10 players will be revealed in the finale episode on September 1. The finale will be streamed live on the NFL Network at 8 PM ET. 'This marks the 15th consecutive year that current NFL players have voted to determine the top 100. The 2025 edition embraces a short-form, digital-first format designed for today's fans — blending NFL Films' signature storytelling with exclusive footage, commentary, and a social-native viewing experience,' the post added. So far, Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Ladd McConkey claimed the #100 spot, and Seattle Seahawks' defensive tackle Leonard Williams landed the #99 spot. By Stuti Gupta

Bail Set For Ex-Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton

Bail Set For Ex-Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton originally appeared on The Spun. Ex-Ohio State lineman Kirk Barton is facing some serious charges following a fatal car accident that he was involved in over the weekend. Advertisement According to police, the former All-American was driving his pickup truck well over the speed limit before striking another vehicle around 3 AM on Saturday morning — killing the other driver who was just 24 years old. Barton reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was placed in police custody and transferred to jail after being discharged from the hospital. He faces a second-degree felony charge for aggravated vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. Which, if convicted, carries a mandatory prison sentence of 2-8 years. Barton was arraigned on Monday morning and bail was set at $500,000 ahead of his preliminary court hearing on the first of the month. This also isn't Barton's first run-in with the law since leaving Columbus. Back in 2018, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest at a golf complex in Dublin, OH. ‘Whole world shattered': Local mom speaks after son killed in OVI crash; former Buckeye charged

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Former Ohio State All American Kirk Barton is facing charges that he allegedly caused a deadly car crash while under the influence. The victim of the crash, 24-year-old Ethan Perry, has deep ties to the Greater Cleveland Area. His mother said she will not allow her son to become a forgotten footnote in the high-profile case. 'There will be a hole in my heart that will never close, it will never close,' Roslyn Perry told FOX 8. She said she was notified by police early Saturday morning that her son had been killed in a terrible accident in Dublin, Ohio, outside Columbus. 'At that point, my whole world shattered because my only baby was gone,' she said. Swimmer's body recovered from lake at Portage Lakes State Park: ODNR Investigators said Ethan Perry's car was slammed into by a speeding pickup truck driven by the 40-year-old Barton, who is a 2003 graduate of Massillon Perry High School and a four-year letterman for Ohio State between 2003 and 2007. Police said Barton admitted to officers that he had been drinking before the crash and he was arrested on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide. On Monday, Barton pleaded not guilty to the charge in Franklin County Municipal Court. 'I saw his mugshot and all he had was a black eye. He had a black eye, but my baby was dead,' said Roslyn Perry. The death of Ethan Perry stunned his family in the Greater Cleveland Area, where he spent his formative years. The family is upset about coverage of the deadly accident that focused on Barton's football career at Ohio State nearly 20 years ago. 'You hear them say, 'Ethan West Perry died at the scene. Barton was a football standout at Ohio State.' Who cares? That is not relevant, he killed my child,' Roslyn Perry said. She said she finds it disturbing that Barton has a history of run-ins with the law, including prior OVI arrests and a high-profile episode that investigators said was fueled by alcohol. It was in June 2018 when Barton was arrested after he refused to comply with sheriff's deputies, who responded to complaints about his behavior at a suburban Columbus bar. He was shown on body camera video slamming the sliding door of a taxi van on the arm of one of the deputies. Barton was initially charged with felonious assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Roslyn Perry questions how the 2018 case was disposed of without any severe consequences. 'I worked at Ohio State for almost five years, so I've seen it first-hand. It is privilege plain and simple,' she said. Witnesses describe apartment explosion that left 5 people in critical condition Ethan Perry's mother believes that privilege is continuing. Barton was released from jail after posting 10% of a $500,000 bond set by a judge on Monday. 'If this situation was turned around and Ethan killed this man, my son would still be sitting in jail today,' she said. As a condition of his bond, Barton is not allowed to drive and must wear an alcohol monitoring device. Meanwhile, funeral services for Ethan Perry will be held in Cleveland next week. Ex-Ohio State football player Kirk Barton charged after fatal car wreck leaves 1 person dead

Former Ohio State offensive lineman Kirk Barton has been charged with one count of aggravated vehicular homicide after police say he was driving intoxicated and on the wrong side of the road before getting into a car wreck that killed a 24-year-old man in Ohio over the weekend. Dublin Police said Barton, 40, is suspected of driving his pickup "at a high rate of speed" in Historic Dublin just before 3 a.m. Saturday when he struck a Lexus driven by Ethan Wence Perry. Perry died at the crash site, and Barton was transported to a hospital with "non-life-threatening" injuries. The Columbus Dispatch reported that Barton was driving on the wrong side of the road before correcting himself before the crash. According to the report, the former Buckeyes player admitted to drinking alcohol before driving and had a "blank stare" and glassy eyes when police arrived. Dublin Police said Barton was charged with one count of aggravated vehicular homicide. Barton appeared in court Monday and was released on a $500,000 cash surety bond, FOX 8 reported. He was ordered not to leave the area and not to drive. He is due back in court next month. Barton played right tackle for the Buckeyes from 2003 to 2007 and was an All-American in his final season. Man, 19, charged with murder in relation to downtown Columbus shooting Court documents show Barton was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road before the crash. After the crash, police said he had slurred speech, as well as an odor of alcohol from his breath.
