Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacts with farmers in Rangareddy dist, emphasises self-reliance in agriculture
Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, participated in a direct interaction programme with farmers at Mangalapalli in Rangareddy Rural district as part of the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Addressing the gathering, the Minister underscored the importance of agricultural self-sufficiency in realising the dream of a developed India. 'For the dream of a developed India to come true, there must be developed work—meaning self-sufficiency in agriculture,' he said. Highlighting the record-level food grain production this year, he credited the resilience and hard work of Indian farmers and emphasided that Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was launched with a vision to ensure long-term sustainability and prosperity in farming. Chouhan stressed that agriculture cannot be managed solely from offices and research institutes. 'Our government reaches wherever agriculture happens—wherever farmers innovate and cultivate. We aim to solve problems by connecting directly with farmers at the field level,' he added. He affirmed the Centre's commitment to supporting farmers not only in cultivation but also in marketing their produce. 'Agriculture is not just about vegetables and grains, but also includes avenues like beekeeping which can enhance farmers' incomes,' he said. During the event, the Telangana Farmers' Union, on behalf of the BJP Kisan Morcha, presented a symbolic plough to the Minister as a mark of respect. He was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagiratha Choudhary, who was also warmly welcomed by the Kisan Morcha. Prominent attendees included BJP State General Secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy, BJP Kisan Morcha State President Kondapalli Sridhar Reddy, Kisan Morcha National Executive Member Goli Madhusudhan Reddy, Papayya Goud, State General Secretaries Padamati Jaganmohan Reddy and Maripalli Anjaiah Yadav, BJP Rangareddy District President Raj Bhupal Goud, and Kisan Morcha District President Ravinder Reddy, among others. Various stalls showcasing agricultural innovations and schemes were set up as part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan programme held in Ibrahimpatnam, drawing interest from participating farmers and officials alike. SKM, trade unions stage dharna against Centre's ‘oligarchy-promoting' policies
Hyderabad: The Kisan Morcha on Tuesday called upon the working class to unitedly fight until the central government withdraws its pro-corporate policies. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) state conveners T Sagar, Pashya Padma, trade union joint action committee leaders Paladugu Bhaskar, Venkatesh, Suryam, Y Srinivas, Chandra Shekhar, and Public Sector Employees Federation secretary Nageswara Rao led a dharna held in front of the Central Labour Commissioner's office on Tuesday. 'We are organising a dharna in front of the Central Labour Commissioner's office as part of the nationwide protests being organised on Tuesday,' they said. The protesters demanded that the four labour codes be repealed, the minimum wage for workers be fixed at 26,000, the 8-hour work schedule be continued, and that public sector enterprises not be tied to private corporate companies. They demanded that the new agricultural market draft be withdrawn, that a law be made to purchase at support prices by adding 50 percent to C2, that farmer loans be canceled, that a comprehensive law be made to protect tenant farmers, that the Indo-American Free Trade Agreement be rejected, that the Employment Guarantee Scheme be increased to 200 days and the daily wage to Rs 600, the Electricity Amendment Act be repealed. They demanded that a minimum support price be allocated and purchased for the crops grown by farmers. J Venkatesh, Eswar Rao, Srikanth Kurapati Ramesh (CITU), M Shobhan, Prabhulingam (Farmers Association), SL Padma, Anuradha (IFTU), Narasimha, Yadagiri (AITUC) and others participated in the protest.

Waqf Act to benefit all communities, sections: CM
1 2 3 Keonjhar : Amendment to the Waqf Act will bring transparency to the Waqf Board and benefit women and girls of the minority community as well as those from economically weaker sections, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said here on in a public awareness programme on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, organised by BJP's district unit at the Keonjhar auditorium, Majhi said the govt is working for everyone, and no one is neglected in any CM said that since the time of Mughal empire until 2013, the Waqf Board had 18.43 lakh acres of land. "But between 2013 and 2025, 20.92 lakh acres were added by the board. Not only did Hindus suffer due to this, but Muslims were also facing inequality," he MP Anant Naik, MLA Fakir Naik, district BJP president Shukdev Mahant, district BJP secretary Nilamani Mahant, former Kisan Morcha state president Shivaji Mohanty, Minority Morcha state general secretary Jalaluddin Akbar, its district president Mahtab Alam, and Keonjhar Municipality chairperson Niku Sahu, among others, attended the event.
