BJP activists protest against poor urea distribution
Pic: BJP workers in Haveri gathered outside the district administration's office, attempting to picket it, while demanding adequate urea supply on Tuesday Haveri: BJP activists from Haveri district staged a demonstration outside the district administration office on Tuesday, protesting against the state govt's poor distribution of urea fertiliser and seeking compensation for crops damaged by rainfall. The protest, led by BJP Kisan Morcha, saw party members expressing their grievances about the state govt's urea distribution system, calling it unfavourable to farmers. Their criticism targeted both the agriculture minister and the district minister. District BJP leaders claimed the Congress administration was channelling centrally-provided urea to illegal markets to support their guarantee schemes. Former minister BC Patil linked the statewide urea scarcity to the state govt's poor administration. He noted that whilst urea's actual cost is Rs 1,666 per bag, central subsidies reduce it to Rs 266. "Govt officials, sellers, and factories are collaborating to sell subsidised urea illegally to fund guarantee schemes," he alleged. He additionally noted that farmers suffered considerable losses after being compelled to sow twice due to heavy rainfall. The administration did not assess damages or provide temporary relief. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "The state govt failed to implement preventive measures despite anticipating extensive sowing requirements," Patil stated. Congress government failed to address farmer issues: Telangana BJP president Ramchander
HYDERABAD: State BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Thursday slammed the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to address farmers' issues despite completing 19 months in office. Speaking at the Kisan Morcha state office-bearers' meeting at the BJP headquarters in Hyderabad, he accused the state government of neglecting farmers due to its skewed policies. He urged party workers to collaborate with the Kisan Morcha to highlight farmers' grievances and counter the Congress' 'anti-farmer' stance. He directed the Morcha members to launch agitations, gather grassroots-level feedback and promote central welfare schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Cards and Fasal Bima Yojana. He alleged that while the Modi government supports farmers, the previous BRS regime and the current Congress administration failed to implement these initiatives effectively. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress of creating an artificial urea shortage to gain political mileage ahead of upcoming local body elections. The BJP leader refuted the state's claims of central negligence, revealing that Telangana received 12.02 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of urea against the required 9.5 LMT for the 2024-25 Rabi season. 'Where are the remaining three LMT?' he questioned, alleging 'false propaganda' by the state government.

Is there anyone in the NDA government willing to listen to the truth or admit their mistakes?" "Everyone knows about the CM's health, but what are the two useless BJP deputy chief ministers doing?" he added, accusing the NDA of leadership vacuum and governance failures in the state.
