Sophie Turner On Romancing 'Brother' Kit Harington In The Dreadful: 'It's Really Weird'
Turner and Harington were among the key characters of 'Game of Thrones,' which ran for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019. Sophie Turner, known for her performance as Sansa Stark in 'Game of Thrones,' will reunite with her on-screen brother Jon Snow, aka Kit Harington, People reported. Having played siblings in the hit HBO series, the actors will be seen romancing each other in the upcoming film, and things are a 'bit weird". Sophie and Kit have joined forces for Natasha Kermani's gothic horror film titled 'The Dreadful,' where they will be seen as lovers. According to a People report, Turner opened up about working again with her GOT co-star. 'I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones," she said in an interview. Turner confirmed playing on-screen lovers as she went on to apologise to their fans. 'We're doing a Gothic horror, but we play lovers. Sorry guys, it's really weird for all of us," the actress added as cited in People. Back in February 2024, Sophie Turner announced her reunion with Kit Harington, posting a playful comment in her post. 'I mean, we couldn't NOT hang out again, ya know. #thedreadful," she wrote. 'The Dreadful' is set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses, following Anne (Sophie Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), who will be shown living a harsh life on the outskirts. Things start changing when a man (Kit Harington) returns from their past, setting off a sequence of unexpected events, stated Deadline. The film's cast also features Laurence O'Fuarain and Jonathan Howard. Further details about the plot and the release date are still unknown. Turner and Harington were among the key characters of 'Game of Thrones,' which ran for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019. Turner's Sansa Stark was the daughter of Ned Stark, who was assumed to have fathered Jon Snow outside his marriage. Thus, the actors played half-siblings in the show, only for a different twist to be unveiled toward the series' end. Game Of Thrones siblings cast as lovers in steamy horror movie - as sheepish star admits 'sorry guys, it's really weird for all of us!'
A Game of Thrones star has admitted 'it's really weird for all of us' after landing a new role in an upcoming horror film which sees her former co-star as her lover. Sophie Turner, 29, and Kit Harington, 38, will be back on our screens very soon to star in The Dreadful. 'The Dreadful follows Anne and her mother-in-law Morwen who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society - but when a man from their past returns, he will set off a sequence of events that become a turning point for Anne,' IMDB's synopsis reads. Kit will take on the role of Jago, while Sophie will play his alter-ego's partner Anne. But some may find it weird considering Kit played Sophie's character Sansa Stark's half-brother Jon Snow on Game of Thrones for all eight seasons, between 2011 and 2019. Speaking about her new role, Sophie told Vogue magazine: 'I've got a few very exciting projects coming out. Kit (pictured) played Sophie's character Sansa Stark's half-brother Jon Snow on Game of Thrones for all eight seasons, between 2011 and 2019 'I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about. '[It's] with my old but very good friend, Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones. 'We're doing a Gothic horror, but we play lovers. 'Sorry guys, it's really weird for all of us.' Sophie was just 14-years-old when she first appeared on the popular series, while Kit was 10 years older than her. The pair will also be joined by Marcia Gay Harden, Lauren O'Fuarain, Jonathan Howard, Catherine McDonough, Zachary Cohen, Huxley Sheppard, Tigerlily Langford and Jürgen Koenen. The Dreadful has been directed and writer by Natasha Kermani. But despite finding it weird, the mum-of-two actually put her former co-star's name forward. She told The Times: 'They were trying to find someone for that role, and I was like, "You can't not have Kit." 'It's set around the time of the Wars of the Roses, so we'll probably be floating about in robes on clifftops again.' Game of Thrones hit our screens in 2011. The fantasy series, based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin, aired 73 episodes over eight series. And it boasted a stellar cast, including Sean Bean, Mark Add, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Iain Glen and Harry Lloyd. But this isn't the only film that will allow GoT fans to get their fix. Last month it Netflix fans have been gripped by a 'highly underrated' period drama with two major Game Of Thrones stars. The historical drama, titled Medici, first aired in 2016 and consists of three seasons. Based in 15th-century Renaissance Florence, the series follows the Medici dynasty as it 'flexes its power in politics and the arts,' according to the synopsis. The show has largely gone unnoticed despite boasting an impressive cast of well-known talent. In the first season, Medici: Masters of Florence, Game Of Thrones actor Richard Madden stars as Cosimo de' Medici. The Scottish actor played Robb Stark in the first three seasons of the fantasy drama between 2011 and 2013. While another Game Of Thrones star, Sean Bean, joined Medici in season two and plays Florentine banker Jacopo de'Pazzi.

Turner and Harington starred as siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, respectively, on the hit HBO series for eight seasons. They've teamed up again for a gothic horror film set against the 15th-century War of the Roses. The Dreadful sees Turner's character Anne's life changed when Harington, playing a figure from her past, returns. The catch is: Turner and Harington's characters are romantically involved in the new film. "I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones." Turner, 29, said in an interview with Vogue published on Wednesday, July 16, while discussing her new film. "We're doing a gothic horror," she said. "But we play lovers." Turner then apologized, likely to Game of Thrones fans, as she said, "It's really weird for all of us." Turner was the one responsible for Harington being cast alongside her in the upcoming horror film. Weird as it might be, Harington, 38, has the actress to thank for his role in the film. 'They were trying to find someone for that role, and I was like, 'You can't not have Kit,'' Turner told The Times in a story published in September 2024. 'It's set around the time of the Wars of the Roses, so we'll probably be floating about in robes on clifftops again,' she explained. The pair's casting was announced in February 2024, and Turner shared an Instagram post celebrating the news. "I mean we couldn't NOT hang out again ya know 🤷♀️ #thedreadful," she wrote. 'I never had proper formal training, so I got to learn from the amazing actors around me, which I felt like I won a competition," she said of her costars, which included Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams. "But it was great. We all were a family.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Sophie Turner says playing 'lovers' with 'Game of Thrones' brother Kit Harington was 'really weird' in new movie
The reunion we've all been waiting for — but with a very different dynamic. Sophie Turner is issuing a warning about her onscreen reunion with Kit Harington. After starring as half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow across eight seasons of Game of Thrones, the duo are next teaming up for The Dreadful, a gothic horror film set against the 15th-century War of the Roses. Fans will no doubt be thrilled to see the actors share the screen once more — but Turner wants everyone to be prepared for a dynamic that's a tad different. "I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones," Turner, 29, told Vogue in a Wednesday video. "We're doing a gothic horror… but we play lovers." With a grimace, Turner offered her apologies to those who watched them star as siblings on the HBO drama, adding, "Sorry, guys. It's really weird for all of us." To be fair, Thrones fans are more than accustomed to uncomfortable undertones of incest. In fact, fans were abuzz about the romantic potential between Sansa and Jon throughout the show's final seasons, especially after — — they were revealed to be cousins rather than siblings. In a 2016 chat with Access Hollywood, Turner joked, "Things could happen, things couldn't happen. They are cousins and it is Game of Thrones." But at the time, she added that sharing romantic scenes with Harington would be impossible: "I could not do that with Kit," she said. "There's no way I could do those kind of scenes with Kit— I'd laugh way too much." Less than a decade later, The Dreadful will see Turner play Anne, an outsider who lives with her mother-in-law on the fringes of society when her harsh and solitary life is suddenly upended by the presence of a man (Harington) from their past, who sets off a sequence of events that become a turning point for Anne. Despite the awkwardness of playing a love interest to her former onscreen brother/cousin, Turner previously admitted that she encouraged producers to consider Harington for the part. "They were trying to find someone for that role, and I was like, 'You can't not have Kit,'" she told the Sunday Times last year. "It's set around the time of the Wars of the Roses, so we'll probably be floating about in robes on clifftops again." The story also has another Thrones connection — the 15th century conflict that served as its backdrop was also a primary inspiration for George R.R. Martin while writing the Song of Ice and Fire series on which Game of Thrones is film, which wrapped production last year, is also set to star Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O'Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard. The Dreadful hails from Lucky and Abraham's Boys director Natasha Kermani, who also penned the script. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword
