Greggs fans heartbroken as ‘favourite' snack quietly axed from menu

Scroll down to find out how Greggs has launched a trial to tackle shoplifting in stores BAKE OFF Greggs fans heartbroken as 'favourite' snack quietly axed from menu GREGGS fans have been left heartbroken after the bakery chain quietly axed a "favourite" snack from menus. The sausage roll maker has discontinued the lunchtime staple to shopper dismay. 1 Greggs has quietly discontinued its Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite Credit: Greggs The Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite was first launched in 2016 as part of a new range but has now been dropped. A spokesperson for Greggs told The Sun the bite has been dropped to make way for the new Roast Chicken Salad Roll, which launched in May. News the savoury bite has been quietly discontinued has not been met well by shoppers though. One, posting on Reddit questioning where the roll had gone, said: "I've literally checked five different Greggs locations in the past week and they haven't had the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite in stock. "They don't even have the little name tag on shelves, are they axing this? "It was my favourite since I was wee and I'd be devastated lol." Another commented: "Aye, can't find it in any I've been in." Meanwhile, a third added: "Ffs that was my idea of a healthy option. Two sausage rolls it is then." It's worth bearing in mind, retailers and fast food chains often discontinue products and items based on trends and demand while adding others. For example, Greggs launched a new summer menu last month which included a fresh Caramelised Biscuit Latte and new Korean Chicken sandwich range. Inside Greggs' outlet stores where food is 75% cheaper However, it has also dropped other items from menus in recent months leaving shoppers gutted. The Sun exclusively revealed in May it had axed its Spicy Veg Curry Bake from menus. In April, fans were left gutted after finding out Katsu Chicken Bakes were axed - begging Greggs to make it permanent. The month before, we also exclusively shared Greggs had dropped its Ham Salad Baguette from its offering. The trial follows a Sun investigation which showed that brazen thieves were targeting some shops every 20 minutes. One worker in an East London branch said: "The stealing before was so bad. "I couldn't put a number on how many thieves came in every day." Meanwhile, a local, Abdeslam Saadons, 58, told The Sun: 'A couple of months ago I saw a guy take a whole case of Coca-Cola." Some Greggs shops have also been fitted with bank-style screens at the counter or introduced full-time security guards. Greggs said the move to shift products away from self-serve fridges was one of a number of initiatives being trialled across "a handful" of shops which are exposed to higher levels of anti-social behaviour. They added: "Safety of our colleagues and customers remains our number one priority." Do you have a money problem that needs sorting? Greggs launches summer menu including new bake and iced latte that fans will go crazy for

GREGGS has launched its summer menu for 2025 and it includes a new bake and biscuit-inspired iced latte that fans will go crazy for. The high street favourite has added a wave of new options to its shelves, with new spicy chicken sandwiches, summer drinks and sweet treats joining the line-up. 11 Available in shops nationwide from tomorrow, May 15, the new menu includes a Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach Bake, which has already been dubbed 'lush' by excited followers on Instagram. The Mediterranean-style pastry will cost £2.10. For coffee lovers, the new Caramelised Biscuit Latte is proving to be the star of the show. Available hot from £2.75 or iced from £3.10, it's inspired by the popular Lotus Biscoff biscuit. Greggs has also upped its hot sandwich offering, introducing a new Korean Chicken range. It features a Korean Crispy Chicken Burger from £4, a BBQ Chicken Wrap from £3.80, and a Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken Baguette from £3.60 – all part of its Hot Sandwich, Wedges & Drink Deal. A new Chicken, Sweetcorn and Red Onion Pizza slice is also joining the menu, priced from £2.40, available as part of Greggs' after-4pm Pizza Deal. On the sweeter side, there's a Lemon Meringue Muffin from £1.55, which can be paired with a hot drink in a meal deal. Customers can also pick up Plenish wellness shots, with Ginger Immunity and Turmeric Recovery options both priced at £1.55 and a fat-free Greek Style Yogurt with Strawberry Compote, priced from £1.55. The new menu is available for in-store purchase, click and collect via the Greggs app, and delivery through Just Eat and Uber Eats. Greggs taste test Greggs posted the announcement online with the caption: 'Babe wake up, Greggs summer menu just dropped!!' Fans shared their excitement for the new menu. One customer wrote: "That biscuit latte looks so good", others agreed saying: "the latte looks amazing". A third said: "could really go for that lemon muffin". Whilst another added: "need that chicken sandwich, yum". But not everyone is thrilled by the new launch. Comments were quickly flooded with complaints from fans asking where the vegan options were. 'This is so disappointing, where's the vegan stuff?' one user asked. Another added: 'Give the vegans what they want for gods sake.' It seems fans still haven't recovered from the Vegan Steak Bake being axed from menus last year. Customers were hoping the veganuary menu signalled a long-term commitment to expanding Greggs' vegan offering, but many have been left disappointed by its absence from the summer launch. Wetherspoons to make huge menu change from today with three items axed

WETHERSPOONS is shaking up its menu today – and fans of steaks and grills won't be happy. From Wednesday, May 14, the pub giant will be ditching three major dishes – steaks, mixed grills and gammon – in a shock menu overhaul. 2 But it's not all bad news, as the chain is also rolling out a brand-new Korean-style chicken range along with three gourmet burgers packed with bold flavours. The move comes as bosses aim to freshen up the food offering and cut back on items branded 'loss-makers' after meat prices shot up. In an email sent to staff, Wetherspoons chief John Huston confirmed that the meats were being ditched 'after much debate', as part of a planned menu change. But in their place comes a 'mouthwatering' new selection, with Wetherspoons confident customers will lap it up. Here's what you can expect from today. What's being axed? From May 14, the following dishes will vanish from menus nationwide: All steaks Mixed grills Gammon The dishes have long been Wetherspoons staples, but have reportedly become too expensive to keep serving. What's new on the menu? In their place, a gourmet burger trio will land on plates across the UK – and it's not your average pub grub. The Big Smoke – Pulled BBQ beef brisket, American-style cheese and maple-cured bacon. Buffalo Burger – Fried buttermilk chicken breast with blue cheese, naga chilli sauce and melted cheese. Cheese Meltdown – American cheese layered with gooey Emmental and Cheddar cheese sauce. Prince William visits a J D Wetherspoons pub Each one will be built around a new 6oz patty, which becomes the new standard burger size going forward. Other Wetherspoons news Spoons also launched a £2.99 breakfast deal in February, with customers able to get a breakfast muffin or small breakfast with soft or hot drink. There are also veggie options available, which is served between 8am and midday. Meanwhile tea and toast, which comes with two slices and either jam or marmalade, is just £2.49. It's not been all good news for Wetherspoons punters in recent months though. The pub chain exclusively revealed to The Sun in January it had increased the price of a host of drinks and meal deals by up to 30p. The chain hiked prices on drinks by 15p while meal deals were bumped up by 30p. The price rises saw the cost of a Guinness at the London and South Western branch in south west London go from £4.66 to £4.81. Meanwhile, the price of a Strongbow increased from £3.24 to £3.39. How can I save money at Wetherspoons? PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals - but did you know there are more ways to save money? Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how. Free refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day. Check a map - Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other. So if you're planning a pint at a Spoons, it's worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you're settling in at the cheapest. Choose your day - Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights. For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual. Pick-up vouchers - Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled. Get appy - The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table - but you don't need to be in the pub to use it. Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play. Check the date - Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry. It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14. As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
