(HT Photo) Citing the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he noted that Uttar Pradesh is setting a new paradigm by blending timeless traditions with state-of-the-art development. The chief minister was addressing a gathering of devotees at Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura on Saturday. He arrived at the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi around 11:50 am, offered prayers to Thakur Keshavdev and Mata Yogmaya, followed by a pooja at the Shri Krishna Chabutra inside the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi. After visiting Bhagwat Bhawan, he addressed the devotees chanting 'Vrindavan Bihari Lal ki Jai' and 'Jai Shri Radhe,' as the premises reverberated with devotional echoes. He extended greetings on the occasion of Janmasthmi, a festival celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Krishna in Mathura, and said that Braj Bhoomi is the land of Lord Vishnu's complete incarnation as Lord Krishna and his divine Leelas. At Krishna Janmabhoomi, CM Yogi extended Janmashtami greetings to believers of Sanatan Dharma all over the world and called for its protection. He urged people to walk Dharma's path and work for the nation's welfare. 'There is a need to preserve Sanatan heritage alongside modern development and this is what our double engine government, both at the centre and state, are working for,' claimed Yogi Adityanath. 'For the past eight years, I had the privilege of participating in Janmashtami celebrations and Barsana's Rangotsav. Our government is committed to restoring the glory of Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul, Baldev, Govardhan, and Radha Kund, and developing them as global pilgrimage destinations,' he claimed. He said that efforts are being made to provide better facilities to devotees. Extending greetings on the 5252nd birth anniversary of Shri Krishna, the CM said that it was the good fortune of Uttar Pradesh that several incarnations of the Lord have sanctified this land. From Ayodhya to Mathura, he noted, these places stand as enduring symbols of India's spiritual heritage. In his address, the chief minister stressed the importance of cow protection, describing 'Gaumata' as a symbol of Sanatan Dharma. He said his government is ensuring the care of destitute cattle and providing ₹1,500 per month to farmers who rear cows, with over 1.6 million cows currently being protected. Urging people to guard against divisive tendencies of caste, region, or language, he called for honouring soldiers at the borders and fostering social unity. 'As long as the flag of Sanatan Dharma guides the world, the values of universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony will endure,' he said. He referred to Prime Minister Modi's 'Panch Pran,' which includes eradicating the remnants of slavery, adopting Swadeshi as a way of life, preserving heritage, honouring soldiers, and fostering social unity. He also noted that the corridor at Vindhyavasini Dham is now attracting large numbers of devotees. He praised the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad for driving the development of the Braj region under the guidance of public representatives, saying it is 'our duty to link this 5,000-year-old heritage with modern progress'. Addressing devotees, he also urged them to remain vigilant against negative forces that seek to weaken the country. The CM emphasised the need to respect the symbols of Sanatan Dharma, including rivers like the Ganga and Yamuna, Gaumata, Gayatri, and sacred pilgrimage sites, saying they are integral to the nation's identity and their preservation is the shared responsibility of the citizens.

Krishna Janmabhoomi: HC junks plea to rename mosque as 'disputed structure'

In the ongoing legal battle over the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah site in Mathura, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea requesting that the term 'Shahi Idgah Mosque' be replaced with 'disputed structure' in all future proceedings related to the case, according to a LiveLaw report. Responding to the High Court's decision, Advocate Saurabh Tiwari told ANI, "The High Court has rejected the application of considering it as the disputed structure... The court has said that it is a normal application and not a shock to the Hindu community..." The order was passed by Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra, who stated that the application was being dismissed 'at this stage'. A total of 18 cases are currently pending in the High Court. These petitions largely seek the removal of what are described as illegal encroachments on the premises of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, which includes the Shahi Idgah Mosque. Krishna Janmabhoomi case: Background The legal conflict revolves around claims that the Shahi Idgah Mosque was built on the site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Hindu petitioners allege that the mosque, situated next to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, was constructed during Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's rule after demolishing a pre-existing Hindu temple. In 1968, a compromise was signed between the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan — the temple's management body — and the Trust Shahi Masjid Eidgah. This agreement allowed both religious places to function side by side on the same premises. However, several fresh petitions have questioned the legality of this agreement. The pleas argue that the 1968 compromise was made fraudulently and is not valid under the law. Claiming the right to worship at the site, many petitioners have demanded the removal of the Shahi Idgah Mosque. Brief timeline of legal proceedings In May 2023, the Allahabad High Court transferred all pending cases related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi–Shahi Idgah dispute from the Mathura court to itself. However, this order was challenged in the Supreme Court by the mosque committee, and later also by the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board, LiveLaw reported. Later in December 2023, the High Court allowed a plea for the appointment of a court commissioner to inspect the Shahi Idgah Mosque premises. In January 2024, the Supreme Court stayed the implementation of that inspection order. The stay has since been extended. Plea to include Radha Rani as a party rejected In May 2024, the Allahabad High Court rejected a plea seeking to include goddess Radha as a party to one of the 18 suits related to the title dispute. The application argued that Shriji Radha Rani should be made a joint holder of the disputed 13.37-acre land along with the plaintiff deity, Sri Bhagwan Krishna Lala Virajman. The plea, filed by Advocate Reena N Singh, claimed that Radha Rani is 'the legal wife and the feminine form of the plaintiff in suit — Sri Bhagwan Krishna Lala Virajman — and that together, they both are worshipped as deities since time immemorial.' However, the court turned down the request. Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra remarked, 'Puranic illustrations are considered hearsay evidence.' The court further said, 'The claim of the applicant as a joint holder of property in dispute together with plaintiff is based on some reference in various Puranas and Sanhitas wherein Shriji Radha Rani is considered as the soul of Lord Krishna.' During the hearing on May 23, the court noted that the Pauranic depictions 'are usually based on narrative and not on direct observation or testimony'.

Krishna Janmabhoomi case: Allahabad HC rejects plea to declare Shahi Idgah Mosque as 'disputed structure'

LUCKNOW: In the ongoing legal battle over the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque in Mathura, the Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected the Hindu side's plea to declare the Shahi Idgah Mosque, situated on Shree Krishna Janmabhoomi premises, a "disputed structure". The petition had sought an official designation of the mosque as a disputed site in court records and all further proceedings. The single-judge bench, comprising Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra, dismissed the plea orally, saying the application filed by the Hindu side in this regard is being dismissed 'at this stage'. The judgment, which was reserved on May 23, is being seen as a significant relief for the Muslim litigants in the long-standing legal battle. Notably, advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, appearing for the Hindu side, had filed an application on March 5 this year, urging the court to declare the Shahi Idgah Mosque as a disputed structure. The contention of the petitioner was that the mosque was built through encroachment and lacked legal documentation proving ownership or religious designation. The Hindu side asserted that the structure could not be called a mosque in the absence of land ownership documents, municipal records, or tax filings. So far, four hearings have taken place in the single-judge bench. Besides this petition, 18 other related petitions filed by the Hindu side have been clubbed by the High Court, and they remain pending before it. All the petitions primarily seek the removal of alleged illegal encroachments from the premises of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, currently referred to as the Shahi Idgah Masjid.
