Astronomer CEO resigns after viral Coldplay concert incident
Andy Byron, the chief executive of New York-based tech company Astronomer, has resigned from his role after he was spotted embracing an employee at a Coldplay concert, according to a statement shared with CNN on Saturday. Astronomer's board of directors accepted Byron's resignation and will begin searching for its next CEO, according to the statement. Following the viral video of Byron, alleged statements from Byron acknowledging the situation began to circulate online. Astronomer said in an earlier LinkedIn post that Byron 'has not put out any statement' and 'reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.' That statement also addressed the misidentification of a third person seen in the clip circulating on the internet in the day following the video's release. CNN was unable to contact Byron for comment. On Wednesday, Byron was seen with Kristin Cabot, the company's chief people officer, on the 'kiss cam' screen at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, before both ducked out of view. 'As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,' the company said Saturday. The data operations company, which was founded in 2018, acknowledged that 'awareness of our company may have changed overnight,' but its mission would continue to be focused on addressing data and artificial intelligence problems. The company on Friday said Astronomer's co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy would serve as interim CEO. Byron's LinkedIn account is no longer public and he was removed from the company's leadership page following the announcement, which now lists co-founder DeJoy as CEO. Byron is still listed on the company's website as a member of the board of directors. This story has been updated with additional content.

Spot Andy and Kristin: Game dev recreates the Astronomer CEO scandal during Coldplay concert
ALBAWABA - A Coldplay concert kiss cam recently took the internet by storm after capturing Astronomer CEO Andy Byron in an affair with his HR head, Kristin Cabot, which prompted a game developer to recreate the viral moment in a pixel-art game called Coldplay Canoodlers. The kiss cam panned over several couples watching the Coldplay concert, until it caught Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot red-handed in the scandalous act, sparking an awkward atmosphere from the audience and band alike. Coldplay's lead singer jokingly pointed out that they were either "shy" or "having an affair." While the live interaction captured a cringeworthy moment, it generated buzz on social media, resulting in a flood of memes, content, public shaming posts, and the creation of a mini pixel-art game called Coldplay Canoodlers by game developer and music artist, Johnathan Mann. Coldplay Canoodlers: Game dev recreates the Astronomer CEO scandal Mann took to X (formerly known as Twitter) with a message: "I vibe coded a little game called Coldplay Canoodlers." He added, "You're the camera operator and you have to find the CEO and HR lady canoodling. 10 points every time you find them." His viral post was followed by a link to the game. The game was shared by many renowned media outlets, including Dexerto, Forbes, Kotaku, and more. X posts that included Coldplay Canoodlers generated millions of views across several platforms, such as TikTok and X. Shocked by the traffic it generated, Mann expressed his excitement on the same platform, reposting posts featuring his game. He said, "It's like all over TikTok good lord" and added that Dexerto's post garnered more than eight million views. Tech CEO resigns after Coldplay concert 'kiss cam' video kicks off viral frenzy
The CEO of the technology firm Astronomer has resigned after being caught canoodling on camera at a rock concert with a woman who was not his wife, the company said on Saturday. The company posted a written statement on social media stating that its leaders "are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met". The statement said that Andy Byron had offered his resignation as CEO and that the board of directors had accepted it. Byron had been placed on leave on Friday, and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is serving as the interim CEO. Byron and Astronomer's chief people officer Kristin Cabot were caught on camera at the Coldplay concert on Wednesday in Massachusetts in an awkward clip that quickly went viral. A spokesman for the company said that the pair were the only employees of the firm caught on camera. The spokesman did not respond to a request for comment on Cabot's job status. Once Byron and Cabot realized they were being shown on a jumbo screen inside Gillette Stadium as they embraced, Byron ducked out of sight and Cabot covered her face with her hands and spun around. Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin responded by saying "either they're having an affair or they're just very shy". Internet sleuths immediately went to work and identified Byron and Cabot by their social media profiles before the company confirmed their identities.

"HR Approved": IKEA, Tesla, Other Companies Milk Viral Coldplay Clip
New Delhi: When a stadium jumbotron turned into an accidental expose of corporate drama, the internet did what it does best: made it viral. This time, major global brands also pounced and profited off of it. The now-famous video shows Andy Byron, now former CEO of data company Astronomer, with Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert in Boston. As the camera landed on them mid-embrace, Mr Byron awkwardly ducked out of frame, and Cabot buried her face in her hands, just as vocalist Chris Martin joked, "They're either having an affair or just very shy." That line lit the internet on fire and brands saw opportunity. Furniture retail brand IKEA posted a stuffed panda hugging an orangutan from behind on their Instagram. The caption read, "Don't get caught... without these! Drama-free cuddles guaranteed." The phrase "HR approved" was placed in the image. Coldplay kiss cam footage of billion-dollar tech firm CEO and female colleague cozying up sends internet into a frenzy
Astonishing kiss cam footage of a billion-dollar tech firm CEO cozying up to a female colleague at a Coldplay concert has sent the internet into a frenzy. Andrew Byron, the head of the AI startup Astronomer, was broadcast on the big screen at Boston's Gillette Stadium with his arm around the company's HR chief Kristin Cabot during the band's gig on Tuesday night. They rapidly covered their faces, with Byron diving out of view and Cabot turning her back to the camera. But despite their efforts to avoid the limelight, their apparent awkwardness caught the attention of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. 'Oh look at these two!' the singer said mischievously as they spun around. 'Oh what? Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy.' The camera stayed trained on the pair, while an astonished woman stood next to them appeared to laugh uncontrollably at the uncomfortable situation. Public records suggest both Byron, 50, and Cabot, 56, are married - but that they live at different addresses to each of their spouses registered abodes. The clip instantly went viral, racking up almost six million views on TikTok, as fans flew into a frenzy at the uncomfortable moment. Memes abounded, with many thanking Coldplay for 'bringing the whole internet together for one day.' 'I would like to thank Coldplay for bringing the nation together. For a day, you fixed us,' wrote another, while a third posted an image of Fred and Wilma Flinstone in a similar pose to the one Byron and Cabot were caught in on the kiss cam. 'Coldplay's Cameraman is a gem!' giggled an X user over a photo of a cameraman with Leonardo DiCaprio's cackling face in Django Unchained. 'Next Board Meeting at Astronomer,' wrote another, over a still of Jonah Hill presenting a professional chart to Brad Pitt in Moneyball - only with the chart covered up by a grab of Byron with his arm around Cabot. 'Its the most rock n roll thing Coldplays ever done,' marveled one observer as another chortled: 'I bet Coldplay will create a new song in honor of the couple in question.' 'Who did it better?' vamped an Instagram user, comparing Byron holding Cabot to Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) holding Rose (Kate Winslet) from behind in the 'I'm flying!' scene from Titanic. One X user posted a picture of Martin at the piano with the quip: 'a CEO hates to see this man coming.' Daily Mail has contacted Byron, Cabot and Astronomer for comment. The company they work for provides generative AI software to a number of major companies including Uber, Ford and LinkedIn. Byron heaped praise on Cabot in a November 2024 post about her appointment to the firm. 'Kristin's exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and scaling people strategies will be critical as we continue our rapid trajectory,' he said. 'She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer.' Byron became CEO in 2023, and the startup rapidly grew under his tenure including a reported 292% growth in revenue for its 'Astro' platform that year. The startup has been valued at over $1 billion, and last week Byron appeared on New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) TV to celebrate the company. Astronomer raised $93 million in its Series D round of financing, which Byron described as 'a huge opportunity' and 'very exciting' for the firm. The concert where the pair were apparently caught out was part of Coldplay's ongoing Music Of The Spheres World Tour. They will next play Maddison, Nashville and Miami before heading back to the UK for a string of dates in August.
