Angel Reese deeply touched by Karen Lacy mother's performance at late LSU star's funeral

WNBA star Angel Reese labeled Kyren Lacy's mother's rendition of 'I will always love you' at his funeral as 'beautiful'. Lacy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after crashing his car while attempting to evade local police in Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. This had come just weeks after he had been involved in a fatal crash in December, which he was arrested weeks later for after reportedly fleeing the scene at the time of the incident. Lacy was just 24 years old when he passed, which hit home for a lot of athletes heading to the NFL Draft with many of his LSU teammates paying tribute. The incident also clearly touched Reese - who is set to reunite with former LSU teammate Hailey Van Lith in the WNBA - as she reacted to his mother's rendition of a Whitney Houston classic. Reese, who played college basketball for LSU and delivered the program a national championship in 2023, shared the video along with the caption: 'This is so beautiful.' Lacy had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Dec. 19, two days after the crash he was involved in. On Jan. 12, he turned himself in to authorities, was jailed, and then released on $151,000 bail, according to police records. Lacy was initially invited to the Scouting Combine, before being uninvited. But the wideout participated at LSU's pro day last month and was ranked as high as the No. 6 receiver prospect in the draft by ESPN. He wrote: 'As stated by his attorney, there was a high probability that the felony charge of negligent homicide would have been declined by a Grand Jury this past Monday. 'Kyren was heartbroken by the tragic loss of Mr. Hall. He was willing to adhere to any civil matters, regardless of the Grand Jury's decision. That aside, the system failed us, and now we are mourning the loss of two lives.' In the 2024 season where LSU went 8-4 before winning the Texas Bowl against Baylor, Lacy led the Tigers in receiving touchdowns (9) and was second on the team in catches (58) and receiving yards (866). Across his five-year collegiate career at the University of Louisiana and LSU, he caught 162 passes for 2,360 yards and tallied 26 touchdowns.

Agent to NFL: "Shame on you" for revoking Kyren Lacy's Combine invitation

Former LSU receiver and 2025 draft prospect Kyren Lacy died last weekend, by suicide. The incident happened on the weekend before a grand jury was scheduled to hear evidence regarding a December 2024 automobile accident that had Lacy accused of hit and run and negligent homicide in connection with the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. On Friday, agent Rocky Arceneaux issued a statement regarding the situation. 'I've been processing this loss in private with Kyren's family and loved ones and with their permission, I would like to share the following,' Arceneaux said. 'Kyren was a special talent, but an even better person. In December, Alliance was blessed to welcome Kyren into our family. His infectious personality and love of life positively affected everyone. Staff and clients alike. 'He loved football. The fact that it was also going to be a means to provide for his family meant even more. His family was his everything. 'As stated by his attorney, there was a high probability the felony charge of negligent homicide would have been declined by a grand jury this past Monday. Kyren was hearthbroken by the tragic loss of Mr. Hall. He was willing to adhere to any civil matters, regardless of the Grand Jury's decision. That aside, the system failed us, and we are now mourning the loss of two lives. 'To the NFL, shame on you for revoking Kyren's Combine invitation without acknowledgement or consideration of the facts. I urge you to re-evaluate your processes and provide athletes with the necessary due process before alienating them from their peers and dreams they've worked so hard for. Shame on the investigating agency for being more concerned about public perception — and pressure to charge someone — than actually investigating the facts. 'K2 — You should have had the chance to reach your dream of playing in the NFL, in just a week's time. It hurts that the pressure, public perception, social media bullying — all without having the facts — were too much to bear. We hoped to see you flourish as an elite WR in the NFL, but God needed you on your team more. Your memory will never be forgotten, we will not let your death be in vain, and you will not be Mr. Irrelevant.' When it comes to the Personal Conduct Policy, the NFL takes no punitive action (the league insists paid leave is not punishment) until the underlying criminal case has been resolved. In the case of unresolved charges against players who have yet to be drafted, the NFL can do whatever it wants. And barring a player from attending the Combine absolutely qualifies as punishment. Whether the NFL should ban a player from attending the Combine because of an unresolved criminal allegation isa different issue. Young men who are facing criminal accusations, who are innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law, perhaps deserve a little more consideration from the NFL. The problem is that, because players who have yet to be drafted aren't in the NFL Players Association, they have no protections under the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement. No one will know whether Lacy would still be alive if he'd attended the Combine. The point is that, at a time when a player is facing a significant degree of stress from criminal accusations and everything associated with them, every additional negative development adds to the complicated assortment of stressors that could push him over the edge. That makes it more than reasonable for the NFL to consider whether the same deference that applies to its current players who face criminal charges should be afforded to its prospective players, too.

Livvy Dunne & LSU Gymnastics Look to Advance to National Championship

Livvy Dunne and the LSU Tigers Gymnastics team are set to face their toughest test of the season as they look to advance to the National Championship. On Thursday afternoon, the Tigers will face off against the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans, No. 5 Utah Utes and No. 4 UCLA Bruins. The top-two teams from the meet will advance to the National Championship while the other two will be sent home just one step short of their ultimate goal. Livvy Dunne - Instagram This will easily be the hardest meet of the season for the Tigers. They've duked it out with No. 1 Oklahoma in the PMAC (and won) and won one of the toughest SEC Championships to date, but there's nothing like facing three top-10 teams with a trip to the National Championship on the line. Luckily, they've been there before. Quite a few times, actually. Advertisement The LSU Tigers are looking to make their third consecutive National Championship. In 2023, they were plagued with injuries, but somehow managed to sneak in. They were only able to manage fourth place, but it was a great result considering the circumstances. However, a year later, they stayed pretty healthy and were able to make it back to Fort Worth, where they dominated, winning the program's first championship by nearly four tenths. Experience goes a long way, but there will still be plenty of nerves when the Tigers take the floor on Thursday. Of their three opponents, the Utah Utes are going to be their biggest challenge. They're the No. 4 team in the country and have an NQS average of 197.780, which is .335 lower than the Tigers' average. UCLA is right on Utah's tail with an NQS average of 197.680. Both of these squads advanced from their section of the bracket with a 197.825 and 197.625 respectively in the Regional Final. Michigan State is a team the Tigers are pretty familiar with now. They faced off with each other in the Penn State Regional Final, with LSU coming out on top, but not by much. The Spartans put together one of their best meets of the season, earning a 198.000 to finish just .050 behind the Tigers. If they can replicate that performance, things will get very interesting in Fort Worth. This should be a very entertaining meet that could very well come down to the last routine. We don't know which event the Tigers will start on yet, but ending on floor or vault would be ideal. Really just anything but beam.
