On unconscious woman's rape in ambulance, ally Chirag tears into Nitish govt: ‘I feel sad that I am supporting a govt where…'
Chirag Paswan, whose party, the LJP (RV), is an NDA constituent, Saturday tore into the Bihar government over a series of crimes that have made headlines of late. 'I feel sad that I am supporting a government here where crime is completely out of control. It is important to control this, otherwise, the way lives of Bihar and Biharis are being played with, Bihar will head towards a very bad outcome,' he said, in a scathing indictment of Nitish Kumar's JD(U), also an NDA ally. Paswan's comments came on a day the state was rocked by another heinous crime – the alleged rape of an unconscious woman inside an ambulance by the driver and a technician. The woman had fainted while attempting a Home Guard test. Ahead of his visit to Gaya, Paswan said: 'Look, one after another, Bihar has seen a series of criminal incidents, and the administration seems to be completely bowing down before the criminals. It is true that what happened is as condemnable and as shameful as it gets; action has also been taken, arrests have been made. But the first question is, why do such incidents keep happening in the first place? The way murders, kidnappings, robberies, dacoities, rapes are happening one after another in Bihar, it has become a series of such incidents, and now it seems as if the administration is completely failing to control them.' 'And if things keep going like this, it will create a very dreadful situation in our state in the coming days. Actually, such a situation has already arisen. Ask the families who have lost their loved ones about their condition. Ask the girls who have suffered such incidents about their condition,' he said. 'Nowadays, it is even being said that, because of elections, anti-social elements are carrying out such activities. If elections are also a reason – and in some way, I too accept that perhaps elections are also one reason and maybe, to malign the government, some people are conspiring and executing these incidents – but even then, the responsibility lies with the administration to control them. How is any criminal able to commit such acts in your state when the administration is present? Either the administration is colluding with them, or the administration is trying to cover up these acts, or else the administration has become completely incompetent and is no longer capable of keeping Bihar and Biharis safe,' he said.

Putting speculation to rest, Chirag says party not taking 2020 solo route in Bihar polls
File photo of Chirag Paswan (Pic credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: Putting all speculation to rest, LJP (Ram Vilas) chief and Union minister Chirag Paswan has said that there will be no repetition of 2020 when his party went solo in the last assembly election in Bihar. He said his party considers all NDA candidates as their own and hence LJP (RV) is ready to put in its entire effort in securing victory for them in all 245 seats in the state. In response to a question on the sidelines of the curtain raiser event of World Food India 2025, Chirag said, 'I am reiterating that when I say LJP (RV) will contest all 243 seats, I honestly feel that till you don't treat all alliance candidates as your own nominees, you can't achieve the target for which you are working. The NDA alliance is working to win more than 225 seats out of 243. I feel that the candidates of JD(U), BJP and others in the alliance are my candidates. If anyone is feeling happy or enthused that I will repeat the role that I played in 2020 (last assembly election), then there is no reason within the alliance that I get back to that role. The NDA is contesting as a united force.' Responding to another question on whether Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor was hijacking his 'Bihar first, Bihari first' plank, the minister said none can hijack or copy the idea of another leader. However, he appreciated Kishor for 'making honest efforts' in the interest of Bihar. 'Prashant ji is playing an honest role in Bihar politics, which I appreciate. I welcome all who appeal to people to go beyond caste and communal is nothing wrong when people have more options,' he said. It can be recalled that Chirag had gone solo in 2020 assembly polls and had put up a brave fight in all seats where JD(U) had its candidates. Political pundits attribute poor performance of JD(U) to Chirag's move to put his candidates.

Posters projecting Chirag as next CM dot city intersections
Patna: Posters of LJP(RV) chief and Union minister Chirag Paswan carrying slogans like 'Bihar ka CM Chirag chahiye', 'Bihar kar raha tajposhi ka intzaar', 'Bihar First, Bihari first' and 'Chirag ke swagat ko Bihar hai Taiyar', were put up at many intersections of the city on Sunday. The LJP(RV), which passed a resolution in its state executive committee meeting on Friday to maintain an "independent identity" in the coming assembly election, has been branding its leader Chirag as the next Bihar CM . The posters put up in the city also mentioned that "we don't want riots, violence or chaos, we want Bihar's CM Chirag". Chirag himself has categorically said he was willing to move from Centre to Bihar politics and contest assembly polls. He, on Friday, wrote to the PM requesting him to include Bhagalpur in the PM Mitra Yojana and develop the region as a textile hub with a mega textile park. The LJP(RV) has no MP from Bhagalpur and his letter to PM raised eyebrows in the political circles about the future plans of Chirag. The moves are also being interpreted as a pressure tactics for more seats in the NDA to contest the coming assembly polls, as Chirag is considered a hard bargainer on the strength of his support base among Paswan and dalit communities in the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it actually worth upgrading your windows in 2025? LJP (RV) to launch ‘Bahujan Bhim Samagam' from Nalanda
Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Union minister Chirag Paswan , will launch a statewide ' Bahujan Bhim Samagam ' from Biharsharif stadium in Nalanda, CM Nitish Kumar's home district, on May 18. Announcing the programme at a press conference in Patna on Monday, Arun Bharti, LJP (RV) MP from Jamui and Chirag's brother-in-law, said the event would be replicated in other districts across Bihar. The LJP (RV), which draws significant support from dalits, especially the Paswan community, appears to be making a concerted pitch for the dalit vote bank. Bharti, however, refrained from explaining the choice of Nalanda as the launch venue, saying only that "many factors" were behind the decision. Bharti thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing the caste census in the country. Flaying Congress, he said, "Those who have made the Constitution their pocket book to flaunt in Parliament never bothered to honour Dr B R Ambedkar with Bharat Ratna." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Start Here - 2025 Top Trend Local network access control Esseps Learn More "Those who are trying to take credit for the caste census are not worthy of it as they never did it during their govt for decades," he added. Chirag recently expressed his desire to return to state politics and contest the assembly elections. While the JD(U), an NDA ally, has issued cautious remarks on his ambitions, it maintains that the alliance will contest the 2025 elections under CM Nitish Kumar's leadership. Chirag, the son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, once nicknamed the 'mausam vaigyanik' (political weatherman), continues to keep observers guessing. Dalit voters are a significant electoral demographic in Bihar, making up roughly 19% of the population. On Ambedkar Jayanti, April 14, both the JD(U) and BJP held events in Patna aimed at consolidating support among dalit voters.
