Dundee United have signed goalkeeper Yevhenii Kucherenko from Ukrainian Premier League side LNZ Cherkasy. The 25-year-old has signed a two-year deal, with an option of a third, to become the club's fourth summer buy. Goalkeeper Jack Walton returned to parent club Luton following the conclusion of last season, bringing to an end a two-year spell at Tannadice, and Kucherenko is likely to compete for the number one jersey with Dave Richards. Manager Jim Goodwin told the club's website: 'We're excited to welcome a goalkeeper of Yevhenii's quality to Tannadice. 'He commands his area decisively, possesses strong technical fundamentals and displays unwavering composure under pressure.' Ukraine Under-21 international Kucherenko has previously played for Georgian side Dila Gori, FC Aksu of Kazakhstan, Portuguese side Leiria and Kolos Kovalivka in Greece. Goodwin added: 'In addition to his strong performances between the sticks, we have been equally impressed by his character and attitude. 'Yevhenii has succeeded in testing himself across numerous different European leagues despite his youth, underlining his desire to develop as both a player and a person.'
