NCAA Lyceum of the Philippines University survived league-leading De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 23-25, 17-15, to wrap its campaign in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan. The two teams were tied at 12 in the fifth set before an unsuccessful block touch challenge and an attack error from LPU handed the Blazers the match point. Raymark Betco's service, however, went out, then Jun Edang scored back-to-back to hand LPU a 15-14 lead. Kevin Ondevilla then tied the set anew for the Blazers, but it was Edang who eventually sealed the victory for the Pirates. Graduating Kian Moral, meanwhile, had 20 digs and 20 receptions. Edang had 29 points from 27 attacks and two blocks, while Isaiah Chrys Santos had 18 points as the Intramuros-based crew finished the season on a high note and improved their record to 3-15. Dexter Granadia and James Harold Marasigan led the Taft-based squad with 17 and 16 points, respectively, as they still finished on top with 14 wins and four losses. Rocky Motol and Mike Balbacal saw limited action in preparation for their Final Four match, while Jacob Agassi Herrera was temporarily sidelined due to a knee issue. Christian Aguilar, meanwhile, was converted to libero for today's game due to shoulder issues. NCAA Arellano University survived a gritty Lyceum of the Philippines University squad, 23-25, 25-10, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8, to end its elimination round campaign on a high note on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament at the Filoil Centre in San Juan. After claiming the fourth set to even the match, the Chiefs had an early 5-1 lead before they pulled away, 11-6. Carl Berdal then widened the lead for the Chiefs before an ace from AC Guinto put them at 13. Jun Edang then tried to trim LPU's deficit, which was followed by an attack error from Berdal for LPU to score two straight. However, Berdal scored back-to-back to seal the victory for the Chiefs. The duo of Berdal and Guinto led Arellano in offense with 22 points and 20 points, with the former having eight digs, while the latter had 20 receptions. Jiwen Sinuto added 15 points, while Jake Pangilinan chipped in 13 points as Adrian Villados made all of Arellano's 25 excellent sets on top of his four-point output. For head coach Bryan Vitug, the win was important especially with the Final Four round coming. "Good thing at least papasok ng Final Four, alam nila paano kumapit kahit during bad games. The Lady Pirates, who are already out of Final Four contention as it won't be able to reach the required minimum number of wins, overcame a shaky start then pulled away for good in the fourth frame to improve to 8-8. LPU still has two remaining games in the elimination round against Arellano University on Tuesday and De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde on Friday. However, even if they win both, they still won't advance, as all the current top four teams already have at least 11 wins. The Lady Stags, on the other hand, absorbed their fifth straight loss to go 7-9. Johna Dolorito continued to carry LPU on her back, serving an ace to bring her side to a 13-5 cushion in the fourth set. But San Sebastian mounted some fightback with a 4-0 run capped by a Divine Garcia outside attack that cut the deficit to five, 9-14. LPU then turned to seldom-used middle blocker Angelica Cruz, whose back-to-back points on block and quick kill helped the wards of head coach Cromwell Garcia build a massive 19-10 cushion. Lefty opposite hitter Ashley Muchillas then soared for two consecutive hammers from the right side, sending them to a 21-11 advantage before a pair of attack errors from San Sebastian saw LPU take the match point at 24-13. San Sebastian outlasts LPU to snap four-game skid

NCAA San Sebastian College-Recoletos overcame a tough challenge from Lyceum of the Philippines University, 30-28, 21-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-8, on Saturday in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament at the San Andres Gym in Manila. The win came after San Sebastian lost four consecutive games against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, and Mapua University. After falling in Sets 2 and 3, the Golden Stags managed to recover and claimed the fourth set before momentum shifted on their end as they took an early 7-2 lead in the deciding frame. Jun Edang's attack gave a glimmer of hope to the Pirates' run but Kyle Villamor answered to widen the lead. The Golden Stags then continued to cruise to a 10-4 lead before Christian Alba went clutch in the final stretch to claim the victory. Alba led the Golden Stags with 26 points from 20 attacks, four blocks, and two aces, while Villamor added 18 points on top of 30 receptions and seven digs. Aaron Binondo added 11 while Enzo Leal showed up for defense with 15 receptions and 10 digs as San Sebastian improved to 5-12. Chris Dumasig had 26 out of LPU's 27 excellent sets as five players scored in double digits for the Pirates. Jhon Icon Aquino had 26 points, Jun Edang had 22, while Isaiah Santos had 20 points. Mark Lanorio and David Talento had 12 and 10 points, respectively, as LPU moved to 2-14.
