Livvy Dunne and Pirates Paul Skenes hit MLB All-Star Game red carpet

The power pitcher from LSU Paul Skenes and his Tiger girlfriend Livvy Dunne hit the red carpet on July 15 prior to the annual All-Star Game in Atlanta. Skenes earned his spot on the National League roster with one of the more bizarre series of stats in any year. He is 4-8 but has a 2.01 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 121 innings. Despite the right-hander's brilliant pitching he has not earned a win since late May. Dunne's stats on social media are as impressive. The former LSU gymnast has 5.4 million followers on Instagram and 8 million followers on TikTok. Now, that's a power couple. Why Clemson QB Cade Klubnik said he hasn't watched LSU game film for five months

Clemson football begins its season in two months, and quarterback Cade Klubnik said he will begin preparations for the highly anticipated opener against LSU next week. "I don't like to watch (LSU game film) for five months because when you get to game day, you just start overthinking everything," Klubnik said on June 27. Advertisement Klubnik is attending the Manning Passing Academy, one of the top offensive football camps in the country, at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana, this weekend. Klubnik said the primetime showdown on Aug. 30 (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC) at Memorial Stadium will be a "great game" but feels it is not more important than any other game on Clemson's schedule. The Tigers were in a similar position last season when they began their season against No. 1 Georgia in Atlanta and lost the much-anticipated matchup. Still, Klubnik is appreciative that he will begin the season at Clemson this year. "I'm excited to start the season off at home," Klubnik said. "I've never done that, so I'm pretty pumped about that (to) start off in the valley." Advertisement This will be Clemson's first home game to start a season since 2019. It faced Wake Forest in 2020 and Duke in 2023 on the road and played Georgia twice (2021, 2024) and Georgia Tech (2022) at neutral sites. Clemson has not won a season-opening game since 2022. Klubnik is 0-2 in Week 1 games too, completing 62.5% of his passes for 351 yards for one touchdown and two interceptions. According to ESPN's Bill Connelly, it returned more production than any other team in Division I (80%). Clemson also retained star contributors like defensive tackle Peter Woods, defensive end T.J. Parker, cornerback Avieon Terrell, linebacker Sammy Brown and wide receivers Bryant Wesco Jr. and T.J. Moore. "I think that we just have more veterans coming back, I feel like for the first time since I've been here at Clemson," Klubnik said. "Just got a lot of guys coming back and just means more leaders and more ways to really develop." Derrian Carter covers Clemson athletics for The Greenville News and the USA TODAY Network. Why LSU football has Clemson's Tiger paw logo in weight room ahead of Week 1 showdown

LSU football coach Brian Kelly has not been afraid to talk about the Tigers with his team this summer. The Clemson Tigers, that is. LSU and Clemson will play one of the most anticipated games in Week 1 on Aug. 30, a game that will set the tone for both programs in 2025. Kelly told assembled media at SEC media days on July 14 that Clemson's logo has been plastered on workout bags at LSU's facility this summer for motivation as players prepare for the season, with a focus toward curbing LSU's recent Week 1 struggles. Advertisement "We've got a Clemson paw print on the bags that we hit every day," Kelly said. "It's on every monitor in the building to go 1-0. I think it was important to have a tangible, specific goal for us to start the season." Part of LSU's focus on the Week 1 showdown is about the Tigers' lack of success on opening weekend in the Brian Kelly era. LSU is 0-3 in Week 1 in Kelly's three seasons, all of which came to power conference opponents away from home. That includes losses to Florida State in 2022 (24-23) and 2023 (45-24), and to USC last season (27-20). Those three games were neutral-site matchups, while the Aug. 30 battle of the Tigers will be played in Clemson. The 12-team playoff widens LSU's margin of error (and Clemson's, too), and a loss on Aug. 30 will not send the program tumbling out of the rankings or out of the CFP picture. Advertisement But it's clear Kelly (who went 1-3 against Clemson and Dabo Swinney at Notre Dame) is tired of losing in Week 1 marquee games. "We've made this a specific goal," Kelly said. "... Our kids want that. They can taste it." This article originally appeared on Greenville News: Why LSU football has Clemson's Tiger paw logo in weight room ahead of Week 1 game

Shaq threatens Robert Griffin III over Angel Reese post: I'll ‘punch you in your f–king face'

Shaquille O'Neal is beyond furious with Robert Griffin III over his comments on Angel Reese. 'RG3? Tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I'm going to punch you in your f—ing face,' O'Neal said Tuesday on Bailey Jackson's 'Off the Record' podcast. 'It's enough. I don't usually do stuff like this, but just stop it bro.' Griffin III, the sports media personality and former NFL quarterback, has been embroiled in controversy over his July 10 post on X, in which he strongly denounced a racist photo edit of Reese, but gave the racist image a greater platform by reposting it. In the post, Griffin also reiterated his previous statement that Reese 'hates' Caitlin Clark, and wrote that people in Reese's inner circle called him and 'told me I was right.' Reese responded in a post on X that was clearly pointed at Griffin III, writing, 'Lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work.' 3 Angel Reese with the Chicago Sky on June 12. Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images O'Neal, who has had a close bond with Reese dating back to the Chicago Sky forward's days at LSU, made his feelings on the situation abundantly clear. 'You got your job, you got your podcast,' O'Neal, who also played at LSU, said in a message to Griffin III. 'Leave my Angel Reese alone. I'm the one calling her telling her not to respond. F–ing stop it. That's the last time. OK?' 3 Robert Griffin III on the broadcast of a game between the Patriots and Cardinals on Dec. 12, 2024. Getty Images O'Neal, the 7-foot-1, 325-pound Hall of Famer and four-time NBA champion, continued to lay into Griffin III, who played seven seasons in the NFL. 'It's a shame that all the stuff you did in your life, you're going to be remembered for your podcast,' O'Neal added. 'That should tell you you're not that f–ing great. I don't want to be remembered for Shaq's 'Big Podcast.' I do not. Leave those girls alone.' 3 Shaquille O'Neal said he would punch Robert Griffin III 'in your f–ing face' if he tweets about Angel Reese again. @baileyjsports/X O'Neal added that Griffin III has no 'G14 classification' to make comments about Reese. 'I would respect it more if Lisa Leslie said it, like that's [women's basketball players'] category,' O'Neal added. 'Stay out of them peoples' category.'

Where LSU football's recruiting class ranks in SEC after Tyler Atkinson commits to Texas

A massive recruiting domino fell on Tuesday with five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson committing to Texas. With Atkinson's commitment, only four five-stars remain on the board, according to the Rivals' Industry Rankings. But Atkinson's pledge wasn't enough to push Texas past LSU. Per Rivals, Brian Kelly's 2026 class ranks No. 4 in the SEC and No. 7 nationally. Texas ranks No. 5 in the SEC and No. 9 nationally. Atkinson became the third five-star to commit to Texas, which ranks second nationally. Alabama has the most five-stars with four in the fold. LSU may not have the volume of a top-ranked class yet, but the Tigers rank No. 2 nationally with an average recruit rating of 91.79. Only Oregon has a better mark at 92.20. LSU has the pieces to make a run at a recruiting title. Let's take a look at the updated SEC recruiting rankings after a busy few weeks on the trail. Rivals SEC football recruiting rankings
