2025 College Football Odds: Chris 'The Bear' Fallica's expert picks, best bets

"Bear Bets" are real wagers that Chris "The Bear" Fallica is actually making. One of my favorite markets heading into the college football season? Win totals. There are a couple of teams I'm already betting on, and I've got some strong thoughts on how their seasons are going to shape up. Let's dive into it. South Carolina Over/Under 7.5 wins Heading into last season, the Gamecocks weren't thought to be very good. Their win total was 5.5, and they surprised everyone by winning nine games, as quarterback LaNorris Sellers broke out to stardom. Now, South Carolina has to deal with high expectations, whereas there were none last year. The Gamecocks have a very young wide receiver group, and lost the interior of their defensive line and their entire linebacker corps. We're talking big-name guys from the defense, like Kyle Kennard and Nick Emmanwori. Every road game is one that South Carolina can lose, as it visits Missouri, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Gamecocks also have Virginia Tech in Atlanta and host Oklahoma, Alabama and Clemson. Assuming they win their buy games, the Gamecocks have to go 4-4 in those eight games to beat me. I'll take my chances that they don't achieve eight wins this season. PICK: South Carolina (-134) Under 7.5 wins Minnesota Over/Under 7.5 wins I know the Gophers lost defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman to Miami, but I believe P.J. Fleck can be trusted to field a competitive team given the program foundation he's built. If quarterback Drake Lindsey plays to the level Minnesota thinks he can, this offense will be good. It's been a little different recently for the Gophers. It's more about passing to set up the run, as opposed to a run-first philosophy. Koi Perich might not be a household name nationally, but he could be an impact two-way star for the Gophers. This is a team that lost some games in brutal fashion last year — North Carolina, Michigan and Penn State immediately come to mind. This is not a team that's going to win at Ohio State or Oregon, but every other game on the slate is extremely doable in the top-heavy Big Ten. PICK: Minnesota (+145) Over 7.5 wins Chris "The Bear" Fallica has covered sports for nearly three decades. While college football has been his focus, he also enjoys the NFL, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, MLB, NHL and Horse Racing, with an "occasional" wager on such events. Chris recently won the inaugural Circa Football Invitational and finished in the Top 10 of the Golden Nugget Football Contest. He's a multiple-time qualifier for the NHC Handicapping Championship. LaNorris Sellers: Preseason scouting report on the electric South Carolina QB

The athleticism and natural tools jump off the screen with Sellers, but he's far from polished as a passer. Listed at 6'3', 240 pounds, Sellers is a brickhouse that's tough to bring down in the pocket. He has twitchy feet, excellent balance to bounce off contact, and borderline excellent strength to shrug off defenders. However, his pocket awareness and ball security need improvement. He'll also need to be better at staying calm when the pocket squeezes around him. Sellers is below average as a passer. He consistently favored shorter throws on film and was hesitant to let it rip downfield or over the middle. There were fewer play actions or longer-developing route concepts in South Carolina's repertoire last year, but he wasn't quick to pull the trigger when those plays came up. Check out my full LaNorris Sellers preseason report and grade on my Substack. That said, there were excellent flashes when he stood tall in the pocket and delivered throws from a solid base. His arm strength is just average, but the bigger concern is his accuracy. Sellers was inconsistent at all levels, and his sloppy mechanics hurt his ball placement. He's frustrating to watch because he struggles to throw into tighter windows, and typically bails before routes naturally come open. Sellers was very much a 'see it, throw it' guy last year, reading half the field before taking off. His limited play time showed most in this area. Luckily, his legs are a legitimate NFL-ready weapon. He's an exceptional athlete with toughness to break through contact and good hip wiggle to make defenders miss in space. Sellers has homerun speed and is borderline unstoppable once he gets rolling (Hello Clemson). Sellers is a young, exciting QB with a ton of upside given his size, toughness, and running ability. However, he needs a lot of development as a passer.

Steelers full 7-round mock draft update: Training camp edition

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers will kick off their 2025 training camp, so we are giving you a full seven-round mock draft update that includes a few surprises. It feels like the offseason moves the Steelers have made have them going all-in for the upcoming season and then going into full rebuild mode starting with the 2026 NFL draft. Let's take a look at all eight picks. First round - QB LaNorris Sellers - South Carolina It feels like Sellers is going to be the guy linked to the Steelers all season long. Sellers is an athletic marvel, and if he can polish up his passing, he has a chance to be special. Advertisement Second round - WR Ja'Kobi Lane - USC Lane has freakish NFL length and catch radius and is set to be the focal point of the USC passing offense in 2025. His physicality fits perfectly with what the Steelers ask of their outside receivers. Third round - CB Judge Collier - South Carolina Collier has prototypical NFL size and athleticism. He's aggressive and confident in coverage and a willing run defender. Third round - WR Josh Cameron - Baylor We come back to wide receiver because Coleman is too good of a playmaker to pass up at this point. Fourth round - S Kamari Ramsey - USC Ramsey is a very smart player who can break down a play quickly and rarely takes a mistep in the secondary. Advertisement Fifth round - RB Jonah Coleman - Washington Squatty, low-slung thumper who brings a hardhat mentality to the position and finishes every run. Sixth round - IOL Cayden Green - Missouri Powerful anchor in the middle of the offensive line and a very good developmental player with starter potential. Seventh round - OT Ethan Onianwa - Ohio State Rice transfer who outplayed all his opponents last season and has a chance to put his name on the map at Ohio State this season. Arch Manning's Preseason SEC Ranking Goes Viral

Arch Manning's Preseason SEC Ranking Goes Viral originally appeared on The Spun. Expectations are sky-high for Texas quarterback Arch Manning as he becomes the team's full-time starter. So how is he viewed within the conference heading into the season? The annual Preseason Media All-SEC teams were revealed today and Manning made the cut. It might not be in the way fans expected though. South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers was voted the First-Team quarterback, while LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier was the Second-Team quarterback. Manning was voted the third-team quarterback. Fans didn't seem all that beaten up over Arch not making the First-Team though. While there was some disagreement over whether Sellers is better than Nussmeier, few people seem to be giving the voters grief over Manning not getting the top billing. "Sellers over Arch.? I'm all for it just shocked a media outlet would take this stance," one user replied. "I think he's better- but I'm really surprised to see LaNorris over Nuss," wrote another. "Sellers over Nussmeier is interesting," a third wrote. "LaNorris over Nuss?? This is gonna be bookmarked for December!" It's pretty easy to understand why the expectations are more relaxed for Manning. Despite his incredible rating as a prospect and his legendary pedigree, he still lacks experience and the results he's shown in what little time he has been on the field have been somewhat mixed. In 10 games last season, most of which was spot duty, he completed 61 of 90 passes for 939 yards and nine touchdowns with just two interceptions. He was an efficient runner too, managing 108 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. But Sellers and Nussmeier have more experience and more success in their respective roles. Sellers completed 65.6-percent of his passes for over 2,500 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding over 600 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Nussmeier was one of the SEC's top QBs last year, throwing for over 4,000 yards while leading the conference in completions and attempts. That said, Manning might be in a better position to win this year. Texas is built to win a national championship and the expectation is they'll be contending for both the SEC title and snagging a spot in the College Football Playoff. If Manning lives up to the billing, he might be able to do the one thing that his uncles and grandfather never could: Win a national Manning's Preseason SEC Ranking Goes Viral first appeared on The Spun on Jul 18, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 18, 2025, where it first appeared.

When is Netflix's SEC football show scheduled to premiere? Will LSU be featured?

LSU football will likely be featured in a show spotlighting the SEC's most storied football programs. Netflix announced "SEC Football: Any Given Saturday" will premiere August 5, an eight-episode series that goes inside the conference's iconic programs. Fans will gain access to athletes, coaches, coordinators, and staff as they prepare for and play during the 2024 season. He, along with South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers, Florida's DJ Lagway, Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia, and Auburn's Cam Coleman, are also on the cover. The series will showcase the SEC's deepest rivalries and game day experiences for everyone inside the programs.
