Lady Bears land guard from Texas

Hello everyone, I'm Dan Lucy on the Ozarks First digital desk. Tis the season for college basketball coaches to restock their roster. In our Bear Nation update. It's Beth Cunningham's turn with the Missouri State Lady Bears. Today Cunningham announced that 5-foot-5 guard Victoria Dixon has signed with the Lady Bears. Dixon will be a senior with one year of eligibility. She played last season at Houston Christian where she averaged six points and one rebound a game coming off the bench. Dixon shot 37 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line. Dixon played her sophomore season at Alabama A&M and started her collegiate career at Tyler Junior College. Cunningham says the Grand Prairie, Texas native brings experience and is a ball handling, play making guard in the back court. Cunningham also liked the aggressive defensive mind set of Victoria Dixon. For more sports watch Ozarks First news at nine and ten. And I'll see you then. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Drinkwitz, Harper on ‘Zou to You tour

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Lets talk Mizzou Tiger athletics. The annual 'Zou to you tour swung through Springfield Thursday afternoon. Football coach Eli Drinkwitz, assistant basketball coach Dicky Nutt and new women's basketball coach Kellie Harper met with Mizzou fans at lunch time. It was Harper's first trip to Springfield since she got the Mizzou job back in mid-March. She was the Lady Bears coach for six seasons and led Missouri State to two NCAA tournaments. Eli Drinkwitz' football team was 10-3 last season and won the Music City Bowl. Both coaches say it's important to get out in the Show-Me State and meet the fans. 'We're appreciative of the fans. They drive on Saturdays from a long way away to come watch us play. For us to be able to make that trip easy for them to come to celebrate their passion is exciting,' said Drinkwitz. 'It's always good to touch base with your fan base. They need to hear you. They need to see you. We do not take for granted. When they're in the stands it matters and it makes a difference. It does and we don't take that for granted. This is our way of getting out and saying hello to our fans,' said Harper. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
