Robin Propper Rangers transfer exit 'agreed' with Dutch defender set for quickfire Eredivisie return
Reports in the Netherlands claim that Propper's stint in Glasgow is over after one season Robin Propper is reportedly on the brink of leaving Rangers to return to FC Twente - with the Light Blues set to make a loss on the money forked out to bring the defender to Ibrox less than 12 months ago. Dutchman Propper was signed last July for around £2.5million after being identified by boss Philippe Clement and director of football Nils Koppen as someone who could add some experience to the back line. However, Propper's time in Glasgow has been far from a resounding success. A combination of injuries and lack of form often saw Leon Balogun and John Souttar selected as the first choice pairing at centre back by Clement and his successor Barry Ferguson, who took on the reins at Ibrox for the remainder of the season after the Belgian was sacked in February. And according to growing swirls on social media in the Netherlands, Propper won't be around to play for new Rangers head coach Russell Martin. The reports claim that FC Twente have struck a €1.2 million (£1million) deal to re-sign the 31-year-old, who will pen a contract with the Eredivisie club until the summer of 2028. Twente are in the market for another defender after being priced out of a move for Celtic misfit Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swede spent the whole of last season in the Netherlands, making 20 league appearances to help Twente secure a sixth place finish in the Eredivisie. Lagerbielke joined the Hoops from Elfsborg in the summer of 2023 but has made just 10 outings in total for Brendan Rodgers' team. However departing transfer chief Arnold Bruggink confirmed last week that the chances of the Dutch club signing Lagerbielke permanently are very slim. He said: "Lagerbielke will most likely go back too. "That's what it looks like at the moment." Gustaf Lagerbielke to head back to Celtic after admission
The Hoops sent the Swedish back on loan to the Eredivisie side for the season with his first-team chances limited, playing just seven times in the Premiership the campaign before. Lagerbielke played 32 times as he helped Twente finish sixth in the Dutch top flight. Former technical director Arnold Bruggink admits it's unlikely he will be kept on, though. That's what it looks like at the moment. "Two central defenders, one of whom has to be a real leader, as far as I'm concerned. "The profile you're looking at is that of Robin Propper. "You need a leader from the back, which will give you a lot more stability. "You need players who can also make others play better football. That's what you need in that position."

Celtic transfer target Youssef El Kachati makes exit vow with 'fantastic step' tease as Lagerbielke stay ruled out
The Telstar frontman has been touted as a potential option for the Hoops this summer Reported Celtic target Youssef El Kachati is supremely confident of a big move this summer amid interest from several clubs in the Dutch forward. The 25-year-old - who has also been linked with Hannover and Schalke - has scored 13 goals in 29 appearances this season for the Dutch second tier side and netted in Thursday's 2-2 draw with Willem II in their relegation play-off final to win promotion to the Eredivisie. Brendan Rodgers is the market for a new frontman this summer and has been linked with a host of names including Brondby's Mathias Kvitsgaarden and Slovan Bratislava striker David Strelec. And while he is focused on helping Telstar reach promotion to the Eredivisie for the first time in their 61-year history, El Kachati is '100 per cent certain' he will be on the move when the window officially opens next month. Speaking after the draw with Willem II, he said: "I think it is 100 percent certain that I will make a fantastic step this summer. "But first I want to leave something behind at Telstar that will make them never forget me. "I think it is very important that I end my time here well. If I can shoot Telstar to the Eredivisie, then I will do that." Elsewhere, Gustaf Lagerbielke is set to head back to Celtic this summer, with FC Twente's departing transfer chief admitting a permanent deal for the centre back is unlikely. The Sweden international made 32 appearances in all competitions to help his team to a sixth place finish in the Eredivisie. Former technical director Arnold Bruggink confirms the likelihood of Lagerbielke remaining in the Netherlands beyond the end of his loan is not high, despite the side's need for defensive reinforcements. He said: "Lagerbielke will most likely go back too. That's what it looks like at the moment. "Two central defenders, one of whom has to be a real leader, as far as I'm concerned. "The profile you're looking at is that of Robin Pröpper. "You need a leader from the back, which will give you a lot more stability. "You need players who can also make others play better football. £3m Celtic loan star reveals he DOESN'T want to return to Parkhead in summer despite having three years left on contract
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CELTIC outcast defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has confirmed he wants to stay at Twente Enschede after his successful loan spell. Swedish stopper Lagerbielke has been a revelation for Twente this season, but the Dutch side have previously said they would struggle to match Celtic's asking price of a reported £2 million to land him permanently. 3 Gustaf Lagerbielke in action for Twente Credit: Getty 3 He scored a winner in the Champions League for Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 Brendan Rodgers deemed him surplus to requirements quickly Credit: Kenny Ramsay Twente have four games left in the Eredivisie this season before Lagerbielke is due to return to Parkhead, where he still has three years left on his long-term deal. But he's admitted he would prefer to stay in the Netherlands next season too. He said: "If we make it into Europe, Twente will have more money to spend. The same applies if Twente sells players in the summer. "So it's up to the technical directors of Celtic and Twente to reach an agreement about me. "I want to play and I feel good in the Netherlands. I can certainly imagine my future being here." The 25-year-old has made 28 appearances for Twente since his loan move in August. He appeared regularly in the side's Europa League campaign which saw them face Manchester United and Besiktas amongst others in the group stage. But they couldn't get past the competition's surprise package Bodo/Glimt in the knockout play-offs. The defender joined Celtic in the summer of 2023 for a reported three to four million pound fee from homeland side IF Elfsborg. He appeared in five consecutive league games after joining including in a 1-0 away win over rivals Rangers, but quickly fell out of Brendan Rodgers' plans and only went on to play another five before his loan move. Celebrity Wrexham owner spotted in retro Celtic strip as he asks 'are they Catholics or Protestants' One memory he can take from his short time though is scoring a late winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League. The man who was once a target of giants Ajax has previously hinted he'd like to make his Twente stay a permanent one as a way of better developing himself and fighting his way in to the Swedish national team. January's transfer window this season saw reports that his temporary team were looking to secure his signature for the long term for a little shy of the current asking price. It seems as though the Hoops are prepared to cut their losses to some extent on the stopper deemed surplus to requirements.
