New Padres ‘OMG' sign emerges after Jose Iglesias said it ‘belongs to the Mets'
Perhaps the Padres are about to enter their 'OMG' era one season after it became an integral piece of the Mets' magical run. Before the Padres' loss to the Mariners on Saturday, television host and reporter Annie Heilbrunn shared a video on X of Jose Iglesias picking up an 'OMG' cutout in Padres colors and handing it to someone else on the field wearing team gear. While that specific sign's backstory remains unclear, Heilbrunn added in a reply that she believes 'this was a gift from a fan.' Screengrab via X/@annieheilbrunn It still served as a strange sight, though, since for the final four months of the 2024 season, those three letters appeared throughout Citi Field and the Mets dugout as the Mets reversed a sinking campaign and ended up two wins shy of a World Series berth. Iglesias, known as 'Candelita' in the music space, performed his hit song 'OMG' — which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Digital Song Sales and even got a remix featuring Pitbull — following a June 28 home game, and when a Mets player would hit a home run, they'd pose with a cutout in the dugout. The three letters became synonymous with their run. Iglesias' presence in the lineup did, too. Advertisement 3 Jose Iglesias celebrates after the Mets clinched the NLDS against the Phillies. Carlos Toro for the NY Post But there wasn't a reunion for 2025. The Mets didn't pursue Iglesias in the offseason, instead trying to create opportunities for younger players instead of signing the 35-year-old Iglesias to another deal. Advertisement Iglesias said he was 'totally shocked' by that development that allowed him to sign with the Padres, though he said that the 'OMG' hype and memories belong to his former team in Queens. 3 Jose Iglesias scores a run during the Padres' game against the Rockies on May 10. Getty Images ''OMG' belongs to the Mets,' Iglesias said when San Diego was in New York earlier this month to face the Yankees. 'It's a song for everybody to listen to obviously, but 'OMG' is the Mets. That's how I see it, that's how I look at it. 'Every time that song plays it reminds me of the year, the ups and downs and the development of the organization.' Iglesias, who has his just .228 across 30 games this season, won't make his Citi Field return until September.

Selena Scores A Top 10 Hit As Fans Honor The Anniversary Of Her Passing
Selena scores a familiar top 10 hit on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart and holds at No. 1 on ... More Latin Pop Albums, as fans revisit her music 30 years after her death. American singer Selena (born Selena Quintanilla-Perez, 1971 - 1995) rides in a carriage during a performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at the Houston Astrodome, Houston, Texas, February 26, 1995. The performance was her last before her murder the following month. (Photo by) Even three decades after her death, Selena Quintanilla remains one of the most celebrated Latin musicians in American history. The beloved singer continues to regularly find space on the Billboard charts, with some frames being bigger than others, and this week is especially meaningful for her music. As one of her most popular albums keeps climbing, several of her biggest hits return to one ranking at the same time – and she even manages to claim a top 10 smash. Selena Charts Two Hit Singles Two of Selena's biggest hits return to the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, the list that tracks the bestselling Latin songs in the U.S. based on digital purchases on platforms like iTunes and Amazon. The ranking, which highlights Spanish-language tracks, welcomes back a pair of her most beloved singles. "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" reappears at No. 10, bringing the late star back to the top 10 on a Billboard songs tally – not something just any artist can manage. Just a few spaces further down, "Como La Flor" returns at No. 13. The Latin Digital Song Sales chart now features just 15 positions, and this time around, only three tracks reenter the tally – and Selena claims two of them. Her two returning tunes easily outperform "Azul" by J Balvin, which settles at No. 15. That song only makes its second-ever appearance on the list, while Selena's cuts have been frequent visitors for years. Selena is also present on multiple albums-focused rosters in the U.S. Her project Ones continues to perform well on Billboard's Latin charts, as is almost always the case. The greatest hits compilation remains steady at No. 1 on the Top Latin Pop Albums ranking – a position that seems especially fitting for a set titled Ones. At the same time, the same collection rises on another, more competitive list. Ones jumps six spaces on the Top Latin Albums chart, the tally that tracks the most-consumed Latin projects in the U.S. Fans seem to be returning to Selena's music in greater numbers than usual at the moment for an easily identifiable, but very sad, reason. March 31 marked the thirtieth anniversary of her passing. The iconic singer was shot and killed in 1995, and this somber milestone was not missed by many of her most ardent supporters. Her murder was recently back in the news not just because of the anniversary, but also as her killer was recently denied parole.

Selena Gomez's New Album Has Managed To Produce A No. 1 Hit
Selena Gomez has delivered plenty of hits throughout her pop career, but her latest album hasn't produced any major smashes. While that's still the case, at least one tune from the singer's new project, I Said I Love You First – a collaborative full-length with her fiancé Benny Blanco – has become a chart-topper. Gomez is back in charge of one of Billboard's songs rankings this week. 'Ojos Tristes' launches at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. The genre-blending collaboration with Blanco and the band The Marías – though the band isn't credited on the tune when it comes to this specific Billboard chart, and only this one – gives I Said I Love You First a breakout hit…if only on one tally, and only for a moment. While Gomez doesn't often make music in Spanish, this tune does not mark her first trip to the summit on this particular tally. 'Ojos Tristes' is her fifth leader on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard's ranking of the top-selling Spanish-language songs in the U.S. She first rose to the top back in 2018 with the global smash 'Taki Taki,' fronted by DJ Snake and also featuring Ozuna and Cardi B. That track dominated for 19 weeks. Then, in 2021, she returned with three more hits: 'De Una Vez,' 'Baila Conmigo' with Rauw Alejandro, and 'Selfish Love,' another cut with DJ Snake. All three climbed to No. 1, though they didn't hold on nearly as long as her first. Including her latest release, Gomez has now scored 10 wins on the Latin Digital Song Sales tally. Half of those tracks — five in total — have climbed all the way to the peak. Beyond that, just one other track, '999,' her team-up with Camilo, managed to break into the top 10, but it didn't quite make it to the highest tier. 'Ojos Tristes' isn't the only tune from I Said I Love You First impacting the rankings in America. It's one of at least half a dozen songs featured on the full-length that appear somewhere on the Billboard charts. Several of the cuts, including 'Ojos Tristes,' manage to break onto the Hot 100, with others find space on the global tallies and even the dance rankings. The album is a multi-genre affair, and while it may not be filled with obvious hits, it's clear that plenty of listeners engaged with the project in its debut frame.
