Kuwait set to host Lebanon president

KUWAIT CITY, May 10: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, accompanied by an official delegation, is set to arrive in Kuwait on Sunday on an official visit, where he will hold official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Meanwhile, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji said Saturday that the upcoming visit by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun will express deep appreciation and gratitude to the Kuwaiti people and leadership for their nonstop support to Lebanon. Speaking to KUNA, the minister underlined the significance of continued support extended by the State of Kuwait to the government and people of Lebanon under various circumstances, saying, 'Kuwait has always been supportive of Lebanon and a key partner of its development process.' The Lebanese official called for boosting cooperation protocols between the two countries, namely within commercial exchange and tourism, commending in this regard Kuwait's hosting of the large Lebanese community on its soil. Rajji hoped that the visit would meet the high expectations of both people, wishing for positive results furthering Lebanese-Kuwaiti ties. In related news, the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait warmly welcomes President of the Lebanese Republic General Joseph Aoun during his official visit to the State of Kuwait. This visit is regarded as a significant event, symbolizing the robust and enduring fraternal relations between the two nations. Chairman of the council Ali Hassan Khalil stated that the visit, in response to the gracious invitation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, exemplifies the mutual esteem held by the leaderships of both countries and presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors. Khalil elaborated that the council, functioning as a vital economic and social entity for the Lebanese expatriate community, places considerable emphasis on fortifying bilateral relations. 'It actively supports the initiation of collaborative ventures and projects aimed at advancing the shared interests of Lebanon and Kuwait, leveraging the professional skills and expertise of Lebanese nationals residing in Kuwait,' he explained. He asserted that the visit of Aoun is a chance to reaffirm the commitment of Lebanon to strengthen its relations with Arab countries, especially Kuwait; grounded in the spirit of amity, mutual respect and reciprocal interests. Furthermore, the council expressed its deep appreciation for Kuwait's continuous support of Lebanon and its sincere gratitude to the Kuwaiti leadership and people for their hospitality towards the Lebanese community that endeavors to serve as a constructive and contributing element in the Kuwaiti society.

NNA - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday met at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El Tineh, with Bader Al-Kharafi, Chairman of the Al-Kharafi Group. Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation, Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations and ways to strengthen them across various sectors. Speaker Berri later met with the head of the Defense, Interior and Municipalities Parliamentary Committee, MP Jihad Al-Samad, with whom he discussed the latest political and field developments, the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections, and legislative affairs. On emerging, MP Al-Samad said they held a tour d'horizon on various local, regional and international issues. The afternoon, Speaker Berri received Lebanese Democratic Party head, former minister Talal Arslan, in the presence of the party's Poliburol member, former Minister Saleh al-Gharib. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized Lebanon's ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory by February 18, confirming that the country is in active communication with influential states, particularly the United States and France, to secure a proper resolution. During a meeting with the President of the Press Syndicate and its delegation, President Aoun stressed the importance of regaining the trust of nations, urging Arab and Gulf countries to invest in Lebanon's recovery. "We want to regain the confidence of nations and encourage our Arab and Gulf brothers to invest in Lebanon," he stated. On the role of media, President Aoun underlined its significant impact, asserting that it could either be a force for construction or destruction. He called on journalists to contribute positively to Lebanon's recovery, urging constructive criticism when mistakes are made. "Criticize us if we commit mistakes, but let your criticism be constructive and free of personal attacks," he added. He emphasized his desire to leave office with a clear conscience after six years, proud of his contributions. In other engagements, President Aoun received a delegation from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, headed by MP Mohammad Raad and Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Haraldstad, who delivered a message from King Harald V of Norway congratulating him on his presidential election and wishing prosperity for the Lebanese people. Additionally, President Aoun met with the Lebanese Ambassador to Liberia, Henry Coston, who conveyed the greetings of the Lebanese community in Liberia, expressing hope that the current presidential term would mark the beginning of stability and prosperity for Lebanon. The President provided directives for the next steps in Lebanese diplomacy. At the Presidential Palace in Baabda, President Aoun also welcomed Abdullah Fahd Al-Shami, Director of the Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait, accompanied by the institute's public relations manager, Karim Darwish, and Lebanese representative in the institute's Board of Trustees, Lamia Moubayed. The meeting focused on strengthening Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations, with Al-Shami expressing the Institute's readiness to contribute to Lebanon's reconstruction. Furthermore, President Aoun received a congratulatory message on his election from Ali Hassan Khalil, Head of the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, which wished him success in his presidential duties, hoping for Lebanon's advancement under his leadership.
