Preliminary Results of municipal elections in Bekaa & Beirut Released
Beirut - (Saba): Preliminary results from the third phase of the local elections, which covered the Bekaa and Beirut, showed a victory for the Lebanese Forces Party in Zahle, the Socialist Party in Rashaya, and Hezbollah and the Amal Movement in Baalbek and Hermel. News reports on Monday indicated that after most polling stations were counted, the results in the Beirut municipality showed a victory for the Lebanese Forces and Fouad Makhzoumi (12 Christian and 12 Muslim members). Beirut recorded a low voter turnout of around 20%. In Zahle, the capital of the Bekaa, the results showed a victory for the Lebanese Forces Party. In Baalbek-Hermel, the Hezbollah-Amal Movement alliance won in all the towns in which they ran. In Rashaya, according to preliminary figures, the Progressive Socialist Party won. The Bekaa witnessed higher voter turnout than Beirut, with voter turnout in areas such as Zahle reaching 46.25%, West Bekaa 42.95%, and Baalbek 48.81%. It's worth noting that the third round of local elections took place amidst a number of administrative complaints that were addressed, without any serious security incidents, and with close monitoring by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior and Municipalities. Geagea urges implementation of security agreement to disarm non-state militias
NNA - Lebanese Forces Party leader, Samir Geagea, on Wednesday criticized recent statements by Hezbollah officials rejecting the dismantling of the group's military and security wings. He recalled that it was the former government of Najib Mikati that unanimously approved the Security Arrangements Agreement on November 22, 2024. The agreement, Geagea said, clearly mandates the dismantling of all military infrastructure not affiliated with the Lebanese Army or official security forces, and restricts all weaponry—'even light arms'—to those entities across Lebanon. Geagea stressed that Lebanon's credibility must not be further undermined by backing away from the ceasefire agreement, and called on the current government to hold Hezbollah accountable to its prior commitments. The LF leader's remarks came during a ceremony for new Lebanese Forces members held at the party's headquarters in Maarab.

Geagea congratulates Saddi on completing all procedures related to appointment of Electricity Regulatory Authority
Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea wrote on X: 'My warmest congratulations to Energy Minister Joe Saddi, who, in less than two months, completed all the procedures for appointing the Electricity Regulatory Authority after a delay of 23 years, and after deliberate obstruction and refusal to appoint this authority by all those who have held this ministry since the issuance of Electricity Regulatory Law 462/2002, which has kept the electricity sector a farm for them, their favoritism and their interests, at the expense of the Lebanese citizen who has suffered throughout this period of darkness and gloom.'
