Appeal for gold jewellery owners after £1m ‘burglary spree'

Police have recovered more than £1 million worth of gold jewellery stolen in London over a two-year period. A First World War officer's Rolex watch, a golden locket and an engraved ring are among the items in the retrieved haul, the Metropolitan Police said. Detectives issued an appeal for the owners of the jewellery – which also included an engraved pocket watch, wedding ring and a number of necklaces – to come forward and reclaim them. The force said the items had 'largely' been taken from London's south Asian community in the Hounslow area throughout 2023 and 2024. Four men face charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and will face trial in May. Detective Sergeant Lee Davison, who is leading the investigation, said: 'While it is believed to be worth over a million pounds in total, it is the sentimental value that remains priceless. This is why myself and the team are working tirelessly to identify the owners.' Anyone who recognises items in the recovered haul is asked to contact the force on 101. The discovery of the items marks the latest high-end jewellery theft in London, following the armed robbery of an Instagram influencer's Primrose Hill mansion in December. More than £10 million worth of jewellery was stolen from art collector Shafira Huang. The police are still searching for a white man, believed to be in his late 20s or 30s, in relation to the incident. As well as bespoke jewellery, the man took a number of Hermes Crocodile Kelly handbags worth around £150,000 and £15,000 in cash. Among the jewellery stolen was a 10.7-carat Graff diamond ring and two De Beers butterfly diamond rings. The suspect also took a Hermes 3.03-carat ring, a diamond and sapphire-encrusted ring, and a Niloticus Lumiere necklace. Ms Huang has offered a £500,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
