Plants and equipment seized in Coalville cannabis raid
Dozens of cannabis plants have been seized from a property in Police said 70 plants and additional equipment were discovered at a property in Forest Road, Coalville on Monday following "information from a partner agency".An investigation to identify who was responsible for the grow is under way following the discovery, the force added all of the plants that were seized will be destroyed.

Seven cars leave same stretch of road in two days in Shoby
Officers have called for safety measures to be introduced on a road in Leicestershire after seven cars came off the same stretch over a two-day Police said all the drivers had left the road and crashed into the hedgerow on the A6006 in Shoby, near Melton Mowbray, in less than 48 hours earlier this force's Melton policing team added it had asked the council to assess the road surface and install warning signs.A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said there were a number of permanent warning signs in place in Shoby and it was assessing these following concerns raised. In a Facebook post, the police team said the section of road was "notorious" and had seen "hundreds of collisions over the years".The post said: "Heavy rainfall after hot weather is the most dangerous time and we take this seriously to prevent loss of life."Steven Carter, a councillor for Melton Borough Council, said seeing vehicles in the ditch alongside the A6006 carriageway was a common sight in Shoby. "I used to go down that road every day to work and I used to see a car in there, or a van - I've even seen a lorry in there - every other day," he said. The independent councillor added: "I don't think there's enough signage there to be honest. "It's a sharp bend. Someone's going to end up getting killed there."A county council spokesperson said: "There are a number of permanent warning signs in place in Shoby – including vehicle activated signs, chevron boards, bend warning signs and slippery road signs - and we're assessing these following the concerns."Heavy rainfall after dry spells can affect all road surfaces and we'd always encourage motorists to adapt their driving to the conditions."

County lines drug dealers handcuffed while sleeping
Two county lines drug dealers were handcuffed by police as they slept in bed next to each other. Miguel Figueiredo-Mendes, 28, and Jean Paul Ekombolo, 28, were arrested during an early morning raid in Leicester. Bodycam footage showed officers storming into the flat at 5.30am on October 5 2022. While officers searched the property, Figueiredo-Mendes and Ekombolo were arrested. Officers also seized crack cocaine with a street value of £10,700, along with £1,000 in cash. A third man, Christian Mudianga, 35, was also arrested at another property in the city. The men were arrested following an investigation of a drugs line between London and Coalville, Leicestershire. All three admitted conspiracy to supply drugs over several hearings. Figueiredo-Mendes, of Chigwell, Essex, was jailed for six years and three months. Ekombolo, of Barking, east London, was jailed for four years while Mudianga, of Leicester, was sentenced to four years and three months. Inspector Steve Burge, the Neighbourhood Policing Commander for North West Leicestershire, said: 'Drug offending ruins lives and brings harm to our communities. We will not tolerate it and will continue to work to remove illegal drugs from our streets and to bring those responsible to court. 'Dedicated and detailed team work across forces allowed us to gather the full information in relation to this drugs line and who was involved. This allowed us to successfully execute early morning warrants which ultimately led to those responsible being charged. 'With the evidence gathered, the defendants were then left with no option but to plead guilty to their crimes.' Detective Inspector James Seager, from the Met's Operation Orochi team, said: 'County line drug offending causes immense harm to young people and communities. 'The prosecution of these three individuals for serious criminal activity was as a result of effective collaboration between Leicestershire Police and the MPS to address the challenge of county line offending between Leicester and London.'

Armed police called to street after burglary report in Leicester
Armed officers were deployed to a residential street in Leicester following reports of a burglary in were called to Egerton Avenue shortly after 11:15 BST on Wednesday. No suspects were found inside the property, but officers discovered a number of cannabis Police said armed officers were sent "in the interest of public and police safety".

Woman, 86, arrested after reports human remains were buried at home in the 1970s
A woman aged 86 has been arrested after police received a tip off about human remains buried at a home in the 1970s. Officers from Leicestershire police are currently searching two properties in the city. The force said the report was made by a 'third party' and alleged human remains may have been buried at an address in Wolverton Road. Officers also executed a warrant at a property in Dumbleton Avenue on Saturday. Police and forensic officers remained at both houses on Tuesday, where cordons were in place. A blue tent could be seen in the garden of one of the properties. Leicestershire police the investigation was 'currently in its very early stages and officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the report'. In a statement released on Tuesday police said the woman was arrested on Saturday 'in connection with the investigation'. She has since been released on police bail while the investigation continues. Detective Inspector Neil Holden, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit's major crime team, who leading the investigation said: 'This is a very complex and sensitive investigation which will take time. 'I appreciate the news of this investigation will be concerning to the local community and I must emphasise the investigation is in its very early stages as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the report. 'Given the serious nature of the allegations which have been made, a scene preservation has been put in place at both addresses to allow officers to carry out a thorough search and secure any evidence that could help our enquiries. 'Officers from the West Leicester Neighbourhood Policing Area remain in the area to provide further reassurance to the local community. 'Please speak to us if you have any information that you think could help us. I would also ask our communities to avoid the sharing of misinformation and speculation. Please only share information which is known to be true. 'We will provide further updates to you as and when we are able to and when it is appropriate to do so.' People living nearby expressed their shock. One Wolverton Road resident, Deepshikha, 23, told LeicestershireLive today: 'It's really shocking. We came home from work and there were lots of police. It is scary.' Miroslav Oracko, 30, who has lived in the area since 2017, said: 'It's a bit strange knowing there's [allegedly] been remains in the garden. You don't hear about this often so it comes as a big shock.' Another resident, Ellen, told LeicestershireLive: '[The police] started appearing a few days ago. We didn't know what was happening. 'We asked the officer if the people that lived there were okay and he told us they were.'
